personally i find this incredibly musically attractive, yet not acceptable in a modern age of perfectionism. But i just love the anciency under-lining this work, like a mystical legend of the piano in a recording of 100 years ago, just in the style of how chopin wanted it.

@wagneristhebest I guess you are speaking of perfection in the technical sense. If so I would tend to agree with you. These days, it seems that everything about our lives is measured by the standard of computerized technology and requires a level of precision that seems to leave no room for our humanity. Its a very interesting question to discuss. Are the notes on the page meant to be played precisely as they are written, or are they a set of guidelines within which we can express ourself?

@davidhertzberg I suppose it's a mix of the both. I was reading an interview with none other than Barenboim last night and he claimed that 'you should never force your personality on the music.' However he claims that when pianists make their intepretative decisions with 'thought' and 'unwilfully' than it should be recognized as a certain expression of their soul. On the other hand, I would much prefer to listen to a performance of true dynamism and individuality than something monodromic.
