  • wait , you forgot something , PEDOBEAR

  • @ScanNinViDeo You mean the sexual harassment panda? From south park

  • @KadeemLiburd

yeap , in a last mascot of canada olympic

  • @XB70Playboy Hey asshole, PETA is lying to you. There has been a moratorium on the killing of baby seals since 1985. That's right, not one baby seal has been killed in Canada for it's fur since 1985, tell that PETA. While you're at it, take a look at all the Peta video's they use as "evidence" why do they look as though they were all shot in the late 70's and 80's? I'll give a guess. It's because they were all shot in the 70's and 80's. Get a clue.

  • Here's an excellent place to stay at for short trips to Vancouver

  • Canada is just beautiful :)

  • 1:51, Oh how I miss that roof.

  • He shouldn't have gotten hurt first of all it is like this every time people even the athletes in the event said wall was to low but nobody ever listens it always takes somebody getting killed. I think the people who had the power to raise the wall and didn't should be charged with neglegent manslaughter. I mean hey the builders just built it the way they said to they aren't the actual designers of it.

  • i cant wait to go thare this week

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa its overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • CTV's the broadcaster of Vancouver 2010, but CBC used this to promote their bid, right?

  • your right it's canada we have the same culture and colourful money and the same education and living as eachother we should just embrase eachother fellow countrymen and women

  • man im glad its finally over I didnt like people seeing how bad vangroovy\s become (crime wise) lately...yeesh gettin scary

  • @Caffienated027 Considered one of the best cities to live in in the world... yeah, it's real ghetto.

  • go Vancouver!!!!

  • Nodar Kumaritashvili died tragically on the dangerous luge at Whistler. He must not be forgotten. VANOC and IOC need to make sure he is not...although the biggest sporting franchise on earth, the IOC, will try to. Please find a way to honor Nodar.

  • @iameuro Well, the track in Whistler is one of the fastest tracks in the world. They're makign sure no one gets hurt ever again. Come on, they honoured him. They give him a whole 1 minute of silence with all hats off, and boths flags down halfway. That make you happy? They even made a video about him and showed it in the memorial!

  • its sad its over:(

  • oh who gives a damn.

calgary is part of canada. just be proud of the medals we won and shut up. i can see between canada and the u.s... but canada and canada? are we really that nationalistic... that we are gonna fight with each other over which part of canada is better? grow up.

  • @cady8906 I agree with cady8906.....we are ALL part of Canada and should stick together as nation.

  • For the hockey they can keep the women's hockey, and bring in juniors for the men's.

  • I know it may be too much to ask for, and costly, but wouldn't be great if they keep all the facilities properly maintained in the winters of each year and use them as training facilities for the Canadian athletes?

They should nationally televise the equivalent of the Olympics for Canadians each winter as Canada's national championships, promoting an active lifetstyle and make the athletes more popular bringing in positive news instead of the bombardment of negatives we get in daily news.

  • Yeah, they do. That's what they do with the Calgary facilities from '88. Not my fault you don't pay attention.

  • Canada is one beautiful country!!!!!!!

  • Do the sportists know how to social dance...???

  • THey dont need to have no more olympics at canada..THey tracks are not even safe bruh a man died cause they didn't build the track right...

  • Yah the design of the track was done by a German, not a Canadian, and it was built by the same people who built the track in 2002 for the Salt Lake City games. Not to mention, approved by the IOC and the internation Luge Federation.

  • oh was it now lol thanks 4 tellin i just think it should have been safer

  • @nokindaway

track was built by same people that built them for past olympics ....

  • GO CANADA!

  • who gives a fuck now, WE WON!

  • Lets not forget that the Liberals brought the games to Canada. I bet Harper hasn't even bothered to mention that.

  • will they have a party after olympic games?????

  • @lslavychecker

If Canada wins today we're gonna have the biggest party until the Vancouver Canucks win the Stanley cup!!!

    GO CANADA GO!!! ▌♥ ▌

  • @getup2727 Canada 12 golds usa 8 golds so who's are the little bitches sorry you cant keep up

  • lol, right loser!

  • USA USA USA USA USA ! ! !

  • haha usa got owned GG

  • You guys are being ridiculous!

  • Vancouver now being known as the rainy city that cancels events,

killed a luge athlete and blamed him for it,

    inspired the term 'glitch games',

    and,

is where young jewish actors go to commit suicide.

Oh yeah.. you can thank Alberta for sending you a real zamboni... .. and about half the medal winners too.

  • now that the 2-woman bobsled gold has been won by canada, canada is now only 1 gold medal behind being first place according to the IOC conventional ranking "system". ofc, thats only if germany and the us dont win more golds :P

  • USA kicks ass

    "russia too"

  • If you want an explanation about Canada.......You tube: Tom Brokaw Explains Canada To Americans...

  • You want to see every game on live from the comfort of your home ?

    watch them here:

    watch?v=EmzYTxAV5nI

  • if canada and usa were the only people in the olympics then canada would kill them in every sport you guys got lucky in hockey

  • You want to see every game on live from the comfort of your home ?

    watch them here:

    watch?v=EmzYTxAV5nI

  • Amadans,If canadians are so proud why in gods name do they have a foreign queen as head of state they really want to sort that out and put that imperialst bitch in her place haha i dunno maybe its the Irish rebel blood in me but it really pisses me off all this commonweath bullshit your either an independent republic or not and get rid of this commomwealth english imperialist bullshit once and for all, sorry bout the spelling

  • Too bad the queen has fuck all to do with our country. Only connection she has to Canada is that her face is on our 25 cent coin. That is it she has no power over us.

  • I know man but they still have links to canada like australia and new zealand why don't yous become a full independant republic no foreign monarchy i know i'm irish haha nd the whole history thing but does it not piss not you off?

  • i think Olympic games are for selfish behaviour people,

it has nothing to do with sport, but with egoism,

do you care when somebody dies?

ass for me there is blood at every medal, CONGRATULATIONS!

dont say i am jelouse, its a cheap way to blame me so you keep your self covered for the truth

  • We're going to make it Happen Again, Canada! Check out Andy Kim Happen Again Olympic Tribute video on Youtube!

  • Why is This Video Posted in 2007 ....

  • Go team USA and CANADA!

  • Yeah that's what I said. The population difference is huge between US and other countries. Netherlands mostly. However we already have 3 medals with speedskating so not bad in comparision with the big countries.

  • vancouver seems like the best place on earth only by comparison to other canadian cities coz most of canada is a frozen wasteland. Anyone who's been to japan would rather settle down there despite the language/cultural barrier, since japan has lower crime rate and better jobs.

  • @keitketsudaze I've been to Japan and loved it. I'd go back in a heartbeat as a place to visit, no way in hell I'd settle there. There's no room to spread out and fly. I do like the hustle bustle but as I get older there is no way I could live with the pace of Japan for the rest of my life that's for sure. Give me the wide open spaces of Canada any day. Way more Japanese immigrate here then Canadians to Japan and that's a fact.

  • @smackyo Way more Japanese immigrate to Canada, because Canada's an immigrant nation with a multiculturalism policy. You can't live in Japan unless you have a work/study visa or marry into a Japanese family. So, naturally, more people immigrate to Canada.

  • @ceceyam Do you really think that's the "only" reason? I've spoke to many Japanese and Korean women about this especially and the pressure to marry by the time you're 30 is stifling, they come to Canada and for the first time in their lives they feel free of any unfair social requirements that are put on them back home. I'm not going to say one country is better then the other cause I love Japan and Asia for that matter. But I think there is more to it then just an immigration policy.

  • @smackyo I'm not saying that Canada's not a good country to immigrate to, but that we accept more immigrants than any other nation in the world. Japan's government is trying to decrease the number of immigrants, so naturally there would be less Canadians immigrating to Japan.

I didn't want to get anecdotal, but I live in Japan. I haven't spoken to a single person here that wants to immigrate overseas. Life here is very comfortable and the people love their country, despite the issues.

  • @ceceyam Talk to the young Women that are leaving Japan in droves because of the unrelenting pressure to be married before 30. I've seen plenty of them here on the streets of Vancouver. Japan is trying to limit immigration due to and let's be honest here racist policies, what's weird is that it's almost an innocent racism which even sounds funny to say. I read one story about the them making robot nurses to care for the old so they wouldn't have to let more Filipino's into the country.

  • @smackyo The largest immigrant populations are from China, India, and the Philippines, due mostly to troubling socioeconomic and politlcal situations. If you look up the appropriate stats, you'd realise that the majority of Japanese Canadians are not immigrants, but 2nd, 3rd, or 4th generation Canadians. The Japanese people you've met are a minority amongst the immigrant community. That, and your sources are anecdotal and based on personal biases.

  • Japan fights immigration because of a collective desire to be homogeneous which, you're right, is racist and xenophobic (and I think I understand what you mean by "innocent racism"). I could chat for hours about this topic, so I won't get into it.

Ultimately, what I meant originally is that I don't think Canada is a better country than Japan (or vice versa). But given the sociopolitical situation, there just happens to be more Japanese immigrants in Canada, than Canadian immigrants in Japan.

  • Who the hell wants to live in Edmonton anyways. If I would want to live anywhere in Alberta, it would be Calgary. Now that city actually is starting to get some personality.

Anyways, I don't think they hold a candle to Vancouver. I mean yes it's cheaper, which really is the only thing Alberta's got going for them outside of the gas industry. But like people have said before, you pay more for a better quality of life.

I'd take Vancouver over Edmonton in a heartbeat if cost wasn't an issue.

  • Well again - Edmonton 'The Festival City' does have a great economy (compared to anyone else these days) and does put huge priority on education,

    but,

despite some flaws and issues with certain groups skyrocketing an otherwise very low crime-rate,

The point remains it would STILL do a better job hosting the Winter Olympics,

    and,

wow.. we are starting to see why.

Its so bad now with 'Glitch Games' that I am NOT happy to say 'Told you so' at all.

Actually I feel bad for Canada now.

  • vancouver is a fail...they tried so hard to impress internationally and make a name for themselves....but FLOPPED

Vancouver wishes they were TORONTO!!! atleast Toronto wouldve done all due diligence and not create a track that KILLED someone...then blame the driver

  • Toronto wants to be New York Jr. and Vancouver wants to be San Francisco Jr,

    but,

The problem is that the critics are saying 'Canada disappointed' or 'who let Canada host this'.

They see it as Canada letting them down.

More seriously - you can see I called out Vancouver for its 'glib,mean-spirited passive-aggressive attitude' BEFORE the Olympics.

I wish it didn't prove itself so horribly.

    - Blames the Luger for hurling into a metal pole.

THAT is the 'attitude' I was talking about.

    Shame.

  • basic supply and demand....no one demands to live in Edmonton, but the whole world, want to live in Vancouver...hence, you get what you pay for.

  • Why don't they make a rule to sent an equal ammount of athletes there. It's only fair. Not?

  • The olympics haven't been so exciting yet in Vancouver, the accident, the continous ice problems, the delays...But anyway I was thinking. It frustrates me that some countries have way more athletes participating then others. No wonder with every olympics the top countries with most medals won are usually China, USA, Russia, Canada and England. Because they have about 30-100 more athletes! Our Netherlands has way less so less winning chance.

  • The accident, the Gretzky incident, the attack downtown Vancouver all looked bad,

    but,

yes, the problems with soft wet snow and rain delaying events is actually more serious. It really screws other athletes and many viewers in other countries who were expecting to see these events,

    but,

the dumbest was ice skating halted because the 'green electric zambonis' didn't work.

HUGE energy and fuel burned up flying in a real Zamboni from Alberta.

btw.. cheers to the Albertans winning medals so far!

  • Sounds like someone is bitter because they can't afford to live in Vancouver.....haha.

  • So your 'haha' is to 'rub it in' that Vancouver is over-priced and very expensive to live in?

    Ouch!

Wow.. you sure rubbed that in my face!

In fact, I do make more money and have a smaller mortgage for 3 times the house as I would in Vancouver.

Haha.. yeah.. hahaaaw.. Im really 'grrrr' about that!

Oo Im so mad inside now that you pointed that out!

    Idiot.

  • I could buy 4 houses in Edmonton with room to spare.....fact is you can't afford to live in a city as nice as Vancouver....yet I could live easily in Edmonton any time I want....I choose to live here, and you are stuck there.

  • Fact is I can afford to live in a city as crappy as Vancouver and chose not to.

Fact is - I had enough money TO LEAVE Vancouver. Many do not.

So I count myself as fortunate.

But just to clarify the superficial, cliquey and passive-aggressive attitude of Vancouverites - lets go over yours:

    - You think someone with less money should be teased and is 'lesser' than you?

    - You think their location and social status is what makes them happy or to be shunned or to be less or more to you?

    Shame on you.

  • you reek of envy....

  • and you reek of dishonesty.

You don't believe I am so secretly upset because I boo hoo.. want to have money so I can be cool like Yaletown winners grr...

    Don't bother.

Don't bluff someone who lived there for way too long and WELL KNOWS how many people want to get the hell out of that city, that circus, that clusterfuck,

    and,

Knows WAY TOO MANY refugees from Vancouver so happy to have made it to Calgary, Edmonton.

Like they escaped a madhouse and can finally breath freely.

    Get real.

  • Refugees and that is why Vancouver has 2.4 million - more than Edmonton and Calgary combined

  • Madhouse??? actually Albertans have amongst the highest incidences of mental illnesses in Canada and have the 2nd highest rate of Suicide - Guess everything is not that Rosy in wild rose country

  • You so lie, you can't afford Vancouver, that is why you are bitter, you couldn't make it here...just admit it and you can move forward with your life, instead of wasting your energy slamming something you don't have. And what are you reading, I did not slam or tease anyone with less money or social status...... only the insecure envious little man you are. ENVY....check it out it's one of the 7 deadly sins.....a biggot like you should know that!

  • Again, don't bother trying to bluff me with this petty and vindictive 'social shame' Vancouver attitude. I know better.

It also brings up this other issue of supply and demand:

    - Vancouver is a failure in that sense although immigrating Hong Kong people did 'demand' homes,

    but,

In fact, you pay more to live there because of massive taxes and 6.5 billion dollar over-runs to create gridlock and 2 weeks of inefficiency with the Glitch Games.

Not because you WANTED that lol

  • You still smell, you need to crawl out from your rock and have a shower....and where do you get your "facts" from? Fact is, Vancouver is alway in the top 5 liveable cities in the world, that is why it costs more to live here(you get what you pay for)....Where does your city rank? And gridlock? I f you are referring to traffic, I can assure you, you are mistaken.......Just because you wan't something to be so in your head doesn't make it fact.

  • Why don't you go and drive from lets say.. Granville somewhere and get out to White Rock and back home?

See how long that takes you this week.

    2 hours?

This 'livable cities' crap is one of the most annoying things about Vancouver's 'create reality through print' insecurity attempts:

    - Hip liberal magazine people who only had to stay and rate the actual downtown Vancouver proper have occasionally listed it in their 'PC' magazines.

In reality, Greater Vancouver is a crappy place to live.

  • Clarifying: 2 hours EACH WAY.

    4 hours of pollution spewing.

Just imagine the astonishing exhaust produced trying to get from Vancouver to Whistler up and down 'Dead Mans Highway'.

    Epic pollution.

(not that any actual residents are just going to attempt driving back and forth to Whistler right now heh)

  • Whistler highway is not even close to being the most dangerous highway in Canada - think before you post

  • livable cities, but these are reports conducted by qualified researchers - what is your education background? Furthermore it is not just one survey that ranks Vancouver in the top 3, but several have noted this from both sides of the political spectrum - Tell me again where does Edmonton rate.......oh thats right...never made the list. Even by Edmontons municipal governments admission - Edmonton has a lower standard of living

  • Vancoverites pay less income taxes, property taxes, less insurance, less utitilites among other things. Furthermore Vancouverites make more.

  • You seem to label yourself as progressive and yet previously you defended those who attack minorities for the reason of them being a minority. Furthermore you attack non whites and gay people. Must be the Alberta way "hun why don't we go to burger king and grab 3or 4 triple burgers and go beat up on some coloured people"

  • Price is a reflection of interest and available supply. Hence it is a reflection of people wanting to live here

  • Well, countries don't just send every athlete to have a lot, they all need to qualify first. It just happens that those countries have more selection from the population that can qualify to be in the olympics.

  • Yes, maybe I'm just bitter of losing to those little sneaky koreans with speed skating lol We Dutch used to reign supreme with speed skating but now we only have Sven Kramer :D

  • and offfffffff course...AMERICA is in 1st place!!!!

but what else would you expect from the greatest nation in the history of the universe??????

  • Duhhh with most athletes competing :P

  • #1 is #1....and America is it.

    Not crappy Canada.

  • some nationalist you are with the crappy political decisions and no decent health care

  • is that why your faggot-ass PM comes to the USA for treatment???? ehh?

  • you're a true moron

  • canada is truly gay

  • @REdCr0ss98 I believe "crappy Canada" won the most gold medals of any nation at any Olympics ever 14! Yes count them, 14 gold medals, we heard our anthem play more then any other country. Have fun with all your 2nd and 3rd place medals, Canada's favorite colour is Gold.

  • haha damn right! i just checked our medal count we hav 18 total and 6 golds and we hav the most bronze and silver medals too... we are in first for all 3 medals and total.... the closest to us is 7 medals behind lmao.. oh and ide like to add that our womens hockey team will win gold most likely and our mens hockey team is ahead of canada by a point and ahead of the other supposed winner russia.. we are runnin shit this year as expected

  • Yes it sounds good until you consider that the USA population has 10 times the number of people but just a bit more than 2 X the medals of Canada.

So really.. you are failing miserably when the proper scale is brought out here.

  • actually retard we arent failing. did you forget that there r more countries in the olympics than just USA and canada??? i bet money that if canada and the USA were the only 2 countries in the olympics the USA would hav 10x the amount of medals... but since there are alot more countries competing you also have to add in all of them and deduct probabilities and all that junk. we have more medals and golds than anyone.. like i said if canada/USA were the only 2 countries wede hav 10x your medals

  • No.

That doesn't make sense. I know you tried to think of some way to 'one-up' this but that doesn't even work at all.

You should think about this and when you suddenly feel really stupid and embarrassed about yourself... ...that is the moment you realize the mistake.

*and hey.. I suck at math but instantly lulled at this.

Which makes me think you might be mentally retarded.

  • alright well despite the number of countries in the olympics we hav triple canadas medals now, just face it your country is shit compared to the USA

  • You want to end up with 10 X the medals before saying we are 'even' in success here.

    10 X the medals.

I will say this - Salt Lake City was a better choice to host the Winter Olympics than was Vancouver based on what I've seen so far.

  • @playmforit 315million people in the usa and 30million in canada. you guys got served statistically! gtfo fail america

  • Not discussing team size but simply population size of the countries. Wouldn't it be more likely for the U.S. to have more people because they have a bigger population right?

  • Your bringing in a hypothetical argument and trying to present it as fact. Do you even realize how stupid that sounds?

  • @Playmeforit

"i bet money that if canada and the USA were the only 2 countries in the olympics the USA would hav 10x the amount of medals... but since there are alot more countries competing you also have to add in all of them and deduct probabilities and all that junk"

LOL, your stupid theory doesnt work.

time to redo your elementary school maths son. hahahah you're so fucking retarded its barely believable.

  • @Playmeforit Little too early for that celebration. Canada's Women's hockey team won the gold, Canada's Men's hockey team won the gold and Canada finished with the third highest medal total and the most, yes the most gold medals ever won by a single country in any Olympics ever! 14 gold, count them 14! You can keep all your 2nd and 3rd place medals, we're #1 in more events and heard our anthem play more then any other country.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch = )

  • breaking news!!!!!!!!

canada banned from hosting olympic games!

  • greate work jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Lol...

  • Lol

  • LETS GO USA!

  • I saw a east Indian man taking pictures of what looked to be the garbage cans at every stop on the Canada line from the Langara Canada line station to the Olympic station. He was as well being quite secretive about it as he tucked his black jacket over the camera in-between stops. This was in mid Nov. If you have kids I would caution taking the sky train during the Olympics. I recently informed the sky train upon the request of the announcements to tell them of any suspicious activity.

  • Why Vancouver is a poor choice for hosting the Winter Olympics:

    - 200 days of rain in a year means they can't even have an outdoor Olympic Flame.

    - They waste a massive amount of other Canadians tax-payer money on what some homosexual 'imagineers' want their Indoor Flame to look like.

The overly elaborate technically difficult 'Broadway Play' Million dollar Olympic Flame contraption FAILS as the whole world watches the biggest moment of the Olympics.

    Nice super-gay looking cauldron!

  • No oudoor flame - get yer hand of that triple whopper there Mr. Meat and potatoes and look at what your typing. So no outdoor flame really then what is that thing I see from Balcony window from the convention centre in Jack Poole Plaza - I wonder what Wayne Gretzky was doing there with the tourch on the 12th - he lit something one fire. Either he is an arsonist or there is an outdoor flame

  • Poor choice LMAO and yet not a single large international event has trusted Edmonton for anything.

    As for Calgary see below:

    National Tourism Indicators, Q1

Topic spans: 1987 - 1991 - The Calgary Olympics: The Winter of '88 CBC

Walkom, Thomas, "The Olympic Myth of Calgary", The Toronto Star, Feb. 8, 1999.

Calgary actually lost a lot money on the Olympics and not gained. These people found that officials fudged the numbers. Which would explain why I see articles about empty seats lol

  • Furthermore Calgary did not count infrastructure costs like the saddledome or other mega projects into the cost - Vancovuer did. Thats the Alberta way - Lie cheat and deceive. If Vancouver adopted Calgary's definition of costs, we are already ahead as we already recouperated all non infrastructure costs and then some. You guys did not do this

  • As for the opening ceromonies - Here are some headlines from around the World

"Vancouver 2010 Olympics Opening Ceremony Spectacular "

"Vancouver's spectacular opening ceremony" dailymail UK

    "It's too exciting!" BBC

Just a tiny sampling of the many comments from around the world

  • you seem angry. dont you have friends? no? oh.

  • It isn't possible I am 'angry' that people spent 100 Million dollars on a track and in 2010 still cant invent a simple safety measure to stop athletes from being killed?

It must be I 'dont have any friend grrr'.

Is it possible to be angry another bunch of Vancouver 'antiestablishment' goons smashed windows and terrorized people in downtown Vancouver today?

    Despite a massive police presence.

No.. it must be that I am lonely and that makes me so grrrr.

    Get real.

  • Accidents happens. Get over it. I'm sure if you had built the track the bodycount would be worse than auschwitz.

  • 'Get over it' he says 2 days after a kid gets brutally killed for no reason.

It was an accident when it happened on a track built in the 70s. It was an accident in the 80s era track.

When someone still builds an open corner with metal death poles to be hit it is no longer an 'accident'.

Its people like you saying "Oh.. so what if a kid dies.. get over it".

Actually if you give me 100 million dollars to build a track that would NOT have happened.. that is exactly one of my first concerns.

  • We all feel the sadness and shock of this young mans death. The unbearable grief his family, friends and team have to endure is beyond imagination. I pray that this will be a wake up call to make this track safe so that athletes can enjoy it.

  • I do agree all our prayers to that kids family and friends. What a tragedy.

Sorry but this really angered me because this same tragedy keeps happening every decade and yet they found a way to spend 100 million on high-tech brilliant engineering tricks and skills to make it slightly faster,

    but,

our 'advanced society' cannot stop someone from inevitably flipping out at some corner and into a metal 'blender' of gates, poles and signs.

    Just infuriating.

  • I understand something has been done now. I'm sure we have not heard the end of this. Let this be a lesson to us all as to what is important in life.

  • Amen to that.

  • my video

  • Why does it matter which City is better or holds a better festival, event & etc? We're Canadian, it doesn't matter, everyone is an equal. There's always going to be a pro&a con. Like for example, Vancouver holds more people that are jobless&Edmonton is a small city with less tourist attractions. In comparison, Vancouver & Edmonton DO celebrate chinese new years. However, that doesn't account for anything. We're only human&this is our country. We should embrace everyone, not just a certain area.

  • Openings was less then average with technical malfunctions.

    Vancouver is gloomy and overpriced.

Many places looks like a China.

Impossible to buy a beer after 11pm, sooo stupid.

And what the fuck happened to your cigarette stores? Why they all covered? Well, must be some idiotic explanation, like for every thing else in this "beautiful" city.

  • I see there's a lot of battle and jealousy between Canadian cities too like we have her ein Netherlands also. A competition thing? Montreal & Calgary are bigger sports cities then both no? But yes if I have to compare Edmonton & Vancouver's hockey teams then ofcourse the OIlers win. But I would like to visit both cities one day -__-

  • On behalf of the American people, this commercial and its corniness is taken as an act of aggression, and embarrasses Canada's neighbors! Inspect an American insertion into Vancouver during the ridiculous event of the skiing/shooting competition.

  • Sorry guys,,

But I think all of you lost the point of the comment!

It was a great show and not matter how many negative people post here.

I will tell you that you will be more support with you own city and not be so negative,, you let your own country ridiculous.

Great Show Vancouver, great music, all over the TOP!

  • the opening ceremonies suck monkey balls. the world is probably laughing at us right now.

  • @doct0rthrill

The opening ceremony was beautiful culture-wise.

Just because it didn't have a crap load of things exploding, Which of course is mandatory for the entertainment of pubescents such as yourself, does not mean it wasn't good.

  • this ceremony is sub par not because of fireworks and stuff. the overall organization is poor, delivery is poor, technical is poor. i think us canadians should go out more. olympic ceremonies have standards. it's an international event for people from all over the world and not just for canadians to enjoy.

  • I am SO PROUD TO BE CANADIAN !

  • R.I.P.

  • What a beautifull nature and city...

  • Wonderful Video... Tonight is the Night - Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games will light up our City, our Country and our Athletes in front of the World ;)

  • You guys can diss Vancouver as much as you like ;) Im an east coaster and I have been blessed by calling Vancouver my home for many years now and I would like it no other way. Murder Capital of Canada...? Compare to any other world City.. It's pretty much nothing.. I believe Canada can compare yearly the amount of murders committed in NYC a month. So.. ;) GO Vancouver ! And for the one bitching.. hey no worries, stay out of Vancouver. Vancouver dosent like you either. ! ;)

  • There is some deceptive representations going on here.

Technically Vancouver City is quite a small little area of mostly very high priced urban core real-estate.

It is really 'Greater Vancouver' that has the stunning crime-rates, murder rates, sex crimes, car thefts etc.

Technically speaking you probably are not likely to get shot in actual downtown Vancouver,

    but,

way more likely to get shot 2 blocks from the King George Skytrain station in Surrey or a drive-by in Burnaby.

  • Again Edmonton leads Vancouver in violent crimes as is clearly noted by Statistics Canada. Furthermore you are the murder Capital of Canada and have a murder rate comparable to most US cities.

BTW when you factor in all suburbs of Vancouver as a collective, the total violent crime rate actually goes down and not up.

  • Deceptive? by me not factoring in the other cities in the lower mainland in crime stats I have actually given Edmonton an advantage as factoring in the suburbs actually lowers the violent crime rates per 100,000 in Vancouver.

  • Furthermore see Police-reported Crime Severity Index values, census metropolitan (Statistics Canada)

Not only does Edmonton has more violent - Crimes committed in Edmonton are more severe. In fact the 2nd most severe in the Country

  • Who the he'll lives I alberta

  • Who the fuck lives in Alberta

  • el proximo, why don't you take a valium and relax!!!!you are sooo hateful, so sad

  • 1 day

  • Us Vancouverites are looking forward to people from all around the world visiting us. Things are getting exciting here and we look forward to you joining us!!

  • Oh woow the Olympics start in two days in CANADA, Edmonton or Vancouver, it doesnt even matter, for 14 days just shut up, carry around a canadian flag et cheer OUR fuckin nation, common, **nobody cares about edmonton, nobody cares what vancouver thinks**, how about nobody cares about 2 kindergarten kids who want the same toy, grow up.

  • people like you elproximo shouldn't get the freedom of speech!!!!all of those problems that Vancouver has, just so you know, exists in every province..and again, BEAUTIFUL BRITISH COLUMBIA!!!!!

  • Great.. yes, make reality happen by banning any disliked comments or opinions.

4 Junkies DO exist in Calgary. Then the cops put them in jail.

400 junkies exist in Vancouver and seem to run around scaring and harassing people, pissing on the streets,

    and,

just do it. daily. in public. never go to jail. Seem to live above the law.

You and I would get $3,000 tickets and all but jailed if we forgot to renew our insurance and tried to cross the Port Mann,

    but,

criminal trash live freely in Vancity?

  • @ElProximo Nobody on the west coast cares about Edmonton or your opinions.

It's like asking Anna Kournikova if she's upset because Courtney Love called her a whore.

If Edmonton didn't have a hockey team, we'd struggle to even find you on a map you're so insignificant.

All your university educated young minds end up moving here anyways, so the remaining collection of uneducated rednecks and bigots is even less of a concern to us.

Olympics in Edmonton? Lol! Keep dreaming!

  • Edmonton would do a better job hosting the Olympics.

Even if you think a sports-mad city of champions that actually has snow is not the best choice... it is STILL a better choice,

    and,

Yes, you get all our liberal-arts students.

You don't 'take them' but we unload those time-wasting do-nothings on you.

We keep the ones who do 'real things' like business, math and sciences.

We win big if you want to compare education.

You win for narrow-minded PC faux-intellectuals and 'playwrights' lol

  • Based on what - when has Edmonton ever hosted anything 1/4 the size and scope of the Olympics? Please cite a source

Oh and I bring back the question in which you continue to keep dodging which is below:

How many times has Edmonton been rated in the top 3 best cities in the World to live? Vancouver has fallen in this list many times. Surely if Edmonton is as great as you say, it must take top spot everytime... please answer?

  • Stop pretending I need to answer something - we already know Vancouver gets put in 'Top Lists' pandering to faux-trendy liberals and by people who just visit there and don't need to actually live there,

    and,

Edmonton hasn't hosted an Olympics and Vancouver is about to.

We already know Vancouver made a huge mess out of it.

Edmonton wouldn't do any worse and has a much better record of reasonably efficient large infrastructure with budget.

That is all you need to know.

    Calgary did well.

  • Edmonton has large Muncipal debts, triple the number of homelessness per capita, make less money, taxed more, far greater number of families living under the LICO index. As for infrastructure Vancouver has you beat with one of the top rated airports in the world over the years, while your is barely make skytrax's list. Calgary did well lmao. Calgaries olympics were Mick Mouse in comparison as the Vancouver olympics are twice as large in scope and in size

  • Vancouver is a great place for tourists to get their cars stolen, home-invasions and property crimes done upon them:

    Read:

"Vancouver's property crime rate is particularly high, ranking among the HIGHEST for major North American cities.

Metro Vancouver has the HIGHEST rate of gun-related VIOLENT CRIME of ANY major metropolitan region IN ALL OF CANADA!.

    Ouch!

    ,

  • @ElProximo ok well really... look.... im not from there...but every city has their problems of crime... this event is not about what vancouver is doing wrong...or right...its about the olympics...a celebration of sportsmanship from around the world... go rant about your propaganda somewheres else where people care. or better yet go take a criminolgy course if crime rates interest you that much.

  • Wow look at debbie downer over here. Go chew your sour grapes somewhere else.

  • The Economist panders to faux-trendy liberals?

    That's news to me.
