  • She was so common... almost ugly... of course she could not believe she won!

  • @luizgustavolima I know the video is poor quality but you need to get your vision checked.

  • How the heck did Ohio win, especially after the final question. Her scores were way to inflated, but the final question should have knocked ohio out of contention.

  • Bizarre that Miss USA when turns Miss Universe she looses the title, bizarre and unique in the world hehe

  • @caravaggio31 Well it's not that bizarre, she loses the title of Miss USA because the Miss Universe title is one better, however the main reason she loses it, is because both jobs are full time jobs. There are responsibilities, tasks, photo shoots, contracts, sponsors, etc that apply to both positions, and it's impossible to fullfill all the obligations of both jobs at the same time.

  • @caravaggio31 It has always been the case for the Miss America winners, so I do not find it bizarre.

  • muy linda la vieja

  • The audience started boo-ing after Louisiana was eliminated. She's beautiful indeed.

  • Yay Bob Barker!!!

  • I can't find any video about Miss USA 1971and 1974

  • Miss USA 1981 is the first Miss USA I actually care about although it had held in my hometown (Biloxi, Mississippi) since 1979... I was just 11 years old at that time....

  • the woman 's hair speaking at the end is hideous

  • Girls were beautiful back then!! I was born in 1981!!

  • Miss Louisiana represented the U.S. at Miss World 1981, the only time Miss USA second runner-up represented the U.S. in Miss World, when Miss USA was the official license holder for Miss World (1981-1991), from 1982-1991 it was the first runner-up who went.

  • miss louisiana is my friends mom !

  • oh that is so cool!!! was ur mom ever a contestant?

  • "And to the first runner-up, you never can tell." I like that :)

  • Yeah, lol! When "those pictures" surface, the first runner up will be sitting pretty ~ literally.

  • Thank you for posting this pageant I love the old pageants from the 80's, what a wonderful tribute to women no matter how cheesey our latest generation of pageant contestants thinks. You have no idea what class act pageants are until you've experienced something like this. Thanks Zarly

  • Miss Virginia is now a General District Court judge in Virginia Beach.

  • you never can tell means you never know what will happen. which is what happened when Shawn won Miss Universe and Jineane took over the title of Miss USA

  • I wanted Indiana to win!

  • the states are right next to each other. LOL

  • What a great clip. I contend that Indiana should have won. lol ;-) I love that they had a throne for the outgoing titleholder.

  • what do u mean i guessed it? u don't even know who i think it is!!!!

  • It's pretty easy to tell who the MC is.... You'd have to live in a cave to not know. :-)

  • wait a sec, is that who i think it is hosting?

  • Yes, you guessed it. And he is retiring this year.

  • "you never can tell?" what does that mean?

  • Jineane was the first runner-up until Shawn Weatherly, Miss USA won Miss Universe, so Jineane had to take her place. Jineane is so pretty and she has such a nice voice!

  • That comment was for the eventual 1st runner-up (1981). The outgoing Miss USA 1980 came in 2nd place at the USA contest in 1980 but was given the USA crown (by default) when the woman who WAS crowned Miss USA 1980 went on to win the Miss Universe crown (representing the USA).

  • @JohnChgo

indeed...shawn weatherly, miss south carolina, won miss usa 1980 and then miss universe.

  • @JohnChgo what a confused comentary...just say that the then Miss Usa 1980 won Miss Universe, giving space to her 1st ru to succed as Miss USA 1980.

  • The group over at Trumo Organization should spend a day watching some of these wonderful tapes from the 80's. The girls were displayed is a classy manner. The girls were classy and the pageants were a tribute to femine pulchritude. Did you hear that Donald?

  • AMEN!

  • Thanks for posting..love the old pageants.

  • zarly, thank you for another wonderful vintage video. Keep them coming!

  • i love miss usa like see more of 1981 too
