I hated the ending because salt in the eyes doesn't knock you out, Bret could have kicked out and rolled to the outside to get it out his eyes. Yoko should of least dropped a leg on him before pinning him.
2:20 Bobby Heenan is too hilarious. "No their saying USA."says macho. "See how bright they are, the guy's from Canada the other guy's from Japan." replies Heenan.
This was the match that made me finally realize that Bret was my hero and not Hulk Hogan. It is to the shame that Bret never got the match against his predecessor, which was something he deserved more than anyone. Had Bret Hart had the torched passed down through a match with Hogan, that would've been something Shawn Michaels could never have even dreamed of touching. The problem was that Bret was always fighting a heel, and his only face vs face matches were when he was already a legend.
I've always disliked this hokey finish. In 1993, Bret Hart was the WWE's top worker and was a superior athlete to Hogan. At Summerslam that year, they could have had a match for the ages though. What could have been.....
Unbeknownst, the fans were actually cheering for Yokozuna when they chanted USA, USA, as he was from the US (of Samoan hertiage). Yokozuna was born in California and Bret is from Canada.
I will say this wwf at this time was just really bad just look how yoko won the rumble i mean really thats so bad. U are right hogan and savage are just so bad to watch i mean really thats why when they went to wcw no one watched the main events everything without them was better
Ring name(s) Great Kokina Kokina Maximus Wild Samoan Kokina Yokozuna Billed height 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m) Billed weight 589 lb (267 kg) Born October 2, 1966(1966-10-02) San Francisco, California Died October 23, 2000 (aged 34) Liverpool, England Billed from Japan Polynesian Islands Trained by Afa Anoa'i Debut 1984 Retired 2000
this has 2 be one of the worst main events in wrestlemania history even if hogan never came in n ruined it afterwards it would still be one of the worst matchups in wrestlemania history i mean just look at the match itself bret and yoko i mean there could have been far better matches like bret hart vs mr perfect or u could have had bret drop the title 2 yoko at royal rumble then have yoko drop it 2 savage then have savage pass the torch on 2 bret at mania
I think it's really unfair to call this the worst Wrestlemania of all time. There was some good matches, and the event itself was strong. Although, I didn't like Hogan winning the title. Hitman is one of my favourites but I would have preferred him just losing to Yokozuna and Yoko holding the title.
no thats not the case. thats just hogan bashing websites that have spred that rumor. the truth is that hogan was not resigning with wwf and hogan was under contract to win the belt one more time (he was supposed to win at WM8) if vince did not give hogan the belt he would have had to pay him a whole lot of money
@radicalman33 i have heard that story lots of times aswell but more recently i think it was last summer sites starting reporting that hogan was schedualed to win the belt at summerslam 92 and than to lose it at the royal rumble in 93 to yokozuna but hogan didnt want to job to yokozuna at the either
@radicalman33 oh and also when hogan took leave and they couldent use that plan they decided on a new plan and that plan was for him to return at the royal rumble of 93 and win the wwe title and than lose it to bret hart at wrestlemania but hogan didnt wanna job to bret hart
that was never a plan. hogan was caught up in the steriod trials and was not around at the time. yokozuna was built up to be the mega heal and bret hart was set to be the hero to take him down. they had to throw hogan in the mix to satisfy the contract. there was never a plan for hogan vs hart. it had nothing to do with hogan not doing a job. if there was ever an issue about diong a job why would hogan chose to lose to the mega heel of the time?
@radicalman33 yes it was its been reported that was the plan by various websites and yes hogan was caught up in all that thats why he took leave yes they where building yokozuna up as a huge heel but they where still going to make hogan beat him at the royalrumble and lose to bret hart they wanted hogan to win at the rumble to satisfy the contract and lose it quickly becuase his image had been shaterd with the steriod allegations vince wanted hart to beat hogan at wrestlemania
no thats just and urban legend at this point. hogan was contracted to win the title one more time, or vince had to pay him a ton of cash. hogan was not resigning with wwf and offered a TV deal (thunder in paradise) and big spot with WCW. thats why hogan won the title here
Hogan coming out afterwards and beating Yokozuna for the title- bullshit. I was going on two later that year and if I was old enough and ordered the PPV, I would've wanted my money back. Sounds like some shit John Cena would do these days.
@AlecBoy006 yes indeed! i hate the way Cena ALWAYS win championships today. when he's lying down, knocked out, and SUDDENLY do the STF or FU and wins.. so f*cking lame.. if Cena become WWE Champion once more he's held the title as many times as HHH, who's been in WWE even longer. + Cena has held the title more days combined than HHH and other guys who have been in WWE for a longer time.. so overated!
Worst Wrestlemania ever, and probably the worst Wrestlemania main event finish ever. Yokozuna for a big man had decent agility and talent, but guy couldn't sell a move to save his life.. I have never understood why he won the title so quickly...
@RyanIsOffended Wasn't one of the better Mania's that's for sure. I remember they were setting up for Hogan Hart at Summerslam that yr, (was advertised in the mag's etc) but Hogan didn't want to job to Hart because he was 'too small.'
That would have saved wrestling at the time, Hogan vs: Hart. Pity Hogan had to rip off fans then just like he did in 99 w/ Nash.
This match will be lost and set up for Hitman. After one year in Wrestlemania 10 1994,Bret became the 2 time WWE Champion,Hogan lost your title in The King of the ring, after Yoko will be the two time champion.
Wrestling was so much better back then, each character had something unique about them. They're all the same these days, which makes it dull and boring to watch.
Back then, if a PPV started at 4pm EST, then all the rest of the times would fall in line. If you're in Central Time, it's 3pm, Mountain, 2pm, and Pacific, 1pm.
@GoFuckYourselfBiatch lol you're absolutely right, and I got all my proof of that in Brett's documentary called Wrestling With Shadows.. its a sad thing as much as Brett did for that company and kept them above water after all the main attractions left for WCW, he still got screwed over
Hogan's a fucking jackass. He can't stand being out of the spotlight so he ruins it for Yokozuna. There have been so many times Hogan's ego ruined it for someone else it's not even funny. By the way RIP Yokozuna, we miss ya big guy
@kidd1023 Hogan is an egomaniacal jackass and terrible wrestler whose star had long faded by this point. He then went to WCW, and after buy rates didn't budge, they had no option but to turn him heel, aligning him with the incredibly over Outsiders. He then proceeded to play a huge role in the death of WCW. He then returned to WWE, and ran away when he couldn't get his way. After all, a 50 year old should be getting out over the new stars they were trying to build.
i'm sorry, to not know those voices? the three most distinct voices in wrestling? you must be very young, because heenan is and ross are the two top all times in their positions of heel/face broadcaster. and macho man? everyone has a macho man voice. his is THE most distinct in the history of wrestling. sorry, you are a true mark
