  • it's awesome i must say but it's so fast so i keep have to replay it.. :"(

  • They stole his name for a car company!

  • R.I.P sensei

  • There are several techniques in Wado that use empi which are quite nasty. Just like any good tai fighter will tell you, using your elbow to strike someone in the face will end the fight. Teisho is also pretty effective too and Wado's employment of Shindo Yoshin Ryu in combination with these waza make it a practical form of karate.

  • FATALITY

  • Yes can confirm the partner is Kobayashi Sensei. The video was filmed at Nichi Dai Karate Club mid 90s. In other films in the same series you will also see the late Hideo Tanabe Sensei as Suzuki Sensei's partner who was Nichi Dai Club coach.

  • *sigh* Definitely need a better camera than this. Not GREAT techniques....Just OK.

  • HD Camera ;D

  • I wonder if there is anyone here who knows who Sensei's partner is ? It looks like Kobyiashi Sensei but as it is a little grainy I can't be sure. Kobyiashi is now back in Japan but was our Club Instructor whilst he was here.

  • brodipaiper - I can't find any details regarding Sensei's demise in the news, is there a website regarding his funeral arrangements please ?

  • @talwanboy The Funeral has been arranged for Friday 22nd July at 10 am at the South London Crematorium Rowan Road London SW16...

  • today Tatsuo Suzuki passed away...R.I.P

  • R.I.P sensei Tatsuo Suzuki

  • With great sadness and with affection and a deep sense of gratitude

O-sensei / Professor Dr. Tatsuo SUZUKI, Hanshi Geboren: 27 april 1928 te Yokohama, Japan - † 12 july 2011 London, England.

  • Interesting style. I did Goju for a while but from the look of it, Wado also encompasses JuJitsu and Aikido type principles. Also, looks much more close combat with some ground fighting. I could be wrong but what I've read up on it seems to indicate this. Looks like a balanced form of karate,

  • @majin2912 Wado Ryu is the mixed of Okinawa Karate and Shindo Yoshin Ryu Jujitsu...

  • This is very beautiful - an internal style of Karate-Do.

  • great vidio! this goy is ace

  • Remarkable techniques! Tatsuo Suzuki makes them all look so easy to perform and yet I still struggle with both Sokuto and Nagashizuki...

Thank you so much for the upload!

    Stephanie

  • @05nixonsryu I’m glad you like it...

  • this is extraordinary! thank you so much for posting..

  • Incredible! Where did you find this footage? My old grandmaster, Sensei Milner Hanshi trained under Suzuki =]

  • Super vidio mate! Great. it realy is a shame pic is a bit poor. But you can still see the tecniques

  • @rubberjohny1 Yes the footage is very old...

  • only the best Martial Art in the world i would know cause its my style, my life.

  • @KaratesDisciple What an arrogant claim to make from a completely biased viewpoint... You should know that it is the martial artist that determines the efficacy of any art - It's not the song, it's the person that sings it. Oss!

  • EXCELLENT-NOTICE HOW WAD KEEPS HIGER STANCE-VERY FAST COUNTERS-SIMLE BUT DIRECT

  • These are realy nice techniques!

  • Guys i do mma and i was wondering if Wado Ryu would help with stand up striking

  • @GuitarLegendov96 yes wado ryu is built for standing fighting and to keep of the ground

  • my favourite is spinning low kick against mawashi, but you must have good reflexes

  • nice but yoseikan is better XD

  • kool

  • @ zukioi

U must rememer that many martial arts are considered self defence as well as an art form, we all know a kata won't help u in a fight, it is just a demonstration of technique and skill

  • Very similar too Kyokushinkai.

  • @ newburyg

I don´t feel that it´s very similar to Kyukushinkai.

Wado feels more flowing. I have always felt that the difference is that Kyukushinkai has more focus on power and less on agility.

Maybe I´m wrong, but that´s the way they taught us in my country.

  • @newburyg sorry to disagree but Wado is nothing like Kyokushinkai.

  • @newburyg nothing like kyokushin

  • Tatsuo is great, I love the Wado Karate techniques.

  • I was 14 years old when i saw Tatsuo Susuki at a meeting in Birmingham.early 70s He did a kata and kicked through a 4inch block of wood. At that time it was amazing.

  • I just love 0:58 - It reminds me of Jet li ^^

  • I feel so lucky to have trained with this guy, complete ledgend!

  • Not exactly 'free sparring'.

  • Yeah, it's cleary a demontration. A good one at least.

  • This guy used me in a demonstration once on a karate training day in UK, and he laughed at my ability to fall over on purpose LOL! He punches like lightening, incredible xx

  • 3:02 is so cool :)

  • Susuki is amazing, i train with one of his oldest students, sensei David Allsop. he is an inspiration to me :) he makes this look so easy

  • Interesantes tecnicas!

  • OMG!

  • a great sensei and demo ! if karate techniques overall work as self defence ( which is a bit doubtfull when u look k1 and other free fights) these techniques done with good timing are worth training. osu!

  • I agree with you 100% , when you pull your punches and kicks you will do the same in a real fight or self defense situation.

  • no,no,no!

all karate techniques are practiced full power against targets, makiwara etc, then u can practice maai(distancing),tasabaki(bodymanagment, shifting)in other drills.

and it all comes together perfectly.

  • YOU NO NOTHING!

  • your right, I know nothing well maybe only one thing in a survival situation if it comes down to it you or me you can kiss your ass goodbye. am a survialist first and than a martial artist

  • now,now less of that,u cant jump to any conclusions,u dont even know me so that talk is nonsense.

listen, have u ever trained with tatsuo suzuki ???

this man can defend himself against most.

  • im questioning your mentality.

  • Welcome to the Sigmund Freud Page

  • it says your 38years old.

you sound like a 16 year old whos balls have just droppped!

    im finished!

  • Many karate practioners do come into life and death situations. if you are taught the right attitude and techniques you will control the situation- and defeat your opponent. karate without reality is useless and meaningless, no decent instructor will grade up a student who doesn't demonstrate this knowledge and understanding

  • Krama is Krama and life and death are the same.say what u will but nothing ever turns out like u want.OSU

  • Do you mean Karma?

  • but k1 isnt self defense!

  • uraken in karate may "stun" but it wont deliver the KO like these exercises pretend.....it must be seen as a move to disorientate the aggressor before the "killer"technique is delivered...... compare with "atemi" in aikido?

  • Some what true, with all type of Karate do, you are not trying to Ko people, but Hurt them so thay can not hurt you, Wado, Aikido, Go Jo, its the same for all these and more.

  • Sweet! What beautiful uraken!

  • Training Techniques guys...

  • Awsome! Loved it, thanks for posting.

  • its interesting to see how very different suzuki moves compared to ohtsuka.

suzuki is very fast and dynamic in his movements, ohtsuka was much more relaxed and free flowing.mind you i have only seen videos of ohsuka in his old age so he may well have been very different in his youth.

  • Is there full contact in wado ryu?

  • Wado Ryu Federations do not support any kind off full contat competition. But we are not forbbiden to participate of them...

  • yes there is, i train with one of sensei suzukis' students, David Allsop. there is full contact in wado ryu but you must do as little movement as possible

  • What he said!! lol

  • Oh my god!!I hate traditional Karate like this! You cant use any of that in a real fight!Unless your fighting a guy who is going to take his right foot and step it wayyyyyy out as he throws a slow telegraphed punch.

  • I really couldnt agree more. and all this one punch shit. Its like your just head hunting no tech at all.

  • in lessons we learn to aim for certain targets, you clearly haven't been so i wouldn't expect you to know, but we aim for the bridge of the nose or the temple or throat or jaw depending on the head punch floating rib or solar plexus etc from a front punch and the spleen etc from a punch from behind, to name but a few

  • I understand quiet clearly. You said I dont aim for certain targets. Im a wrestler. So there are diff targets I aim for. like a takedown or submission. All that traditional stuff doesnt work.

I hope you never fight anyone. I think you will be very disapointed in your abilitys. You guys should just stick to breaking bricks.

Leave the real fighting to real martial artist like me.

  • Remember people "don't feed the trolls"

We already answered this guy, if he does disagree with us just let him away.

    Respect.

  • okay one hit isnt going to take the guy out. Thats why i dont study much into karate.

  • Is a Technique demonstration, they are trying to demonstrate them one by one.

  • ha you could not be more incorrect. If you have much power in your hands, elbows, knees or legs. And you hit them solid in the floating ribs or on the jaw or chin. Then yes it only takes one hit to stop a man.I'm sorry but I think you have been watching to many kung fu movies.

  • As far as I'm aware there have only been 3 films made using wado ryu style karate and I seriously doubt you've seen any of them. Why are you assuming that because someone disagrees with you that they're wrong and you're right? A little egotistical don't you think?

  • loved the nagashi zuki part at the end.

  • wounderful

  • Excellence

  • does anybody take wado ryu

  • what do you mean by take, practise?

  • I practice Wado-Ryu.

  • master

  • 5 stars!

  • Sensei Suzuki is wonderful, cheers for the video

  • Wonderful footage - thanks!

  • I am glad you liked it :-)

  • Thank you for showing this videos because I always interested in Karate's traditional sparring methods....I mean it seems karate resembles kickboxing and pugilism with kicking techniques added.

  • yes i had noticed the resembalance if you look at old school pugilism the guard is very simmilar and kickboxing is closely related to both

  • Thanks for posting. A pleasure to watch.
