Even Bill Simmons (whom I like a lot) complained the other day that Ibaka is somehow playing for Spain. Kinda dumbfounding since the whole US are built from immigrants.
Cant wait for the Olympics. Considering FIBA rules, I believe Spain has a better frontcourt than the US, cause the Gasol brothers are just phenomenal and Ibaka off the bench is an X factor. It will be hard to beat US athleticism, but if anybody, Spain has the best chance. I pray for another beauty like in 08 finals.
Ibaka arrived to Spain when he was around 14-15, one of his first coaches in Spain practically raised him because he lived with him ,so I think it´s reasonable that he wanted to play for Spain
@TK2008BEST You can say the same thing with Bo McCalebb in FYR Macedonia or Luol Deng in UK? Spain needs a powerful defensive player and Ibaka was formed in spanish leagues...
@TK2008BEST They are definintly not on steroids, They are tested on those type of drugs in the nba. However they could possibly be taking other substances such as HGH. And that would apply to any NBA player, not just the americans
@doubledutch6rudder we all know that they refuse examination, this is their term to participate in the world championship. The only forbiden in US is drugs... right pal?
@TK2008BEST "The only thing I think they mean is that originally NBA players were not subject to out-of-competition testing. I believe, since I got here in 1990, that all of our teams have been tested in competition. I believe since around 1998 we have also been subject to out-of-competition testing. We have been 100 percent fully compliant with USADA and WADA. In fact, last night [after the Greece game] we had a member of our team tested." Craig Miller USA basketball spokesman
@TK2008BEST lol shit that didnt even make sense.fuck im high as shit and you pissed me off. he is a citizen of that country and is allowed to play on his national team. 3 other countries recently granted citizenship to an american player for them, on on was bo maccalebb in macedonins.
@TK2008BEST Him want play for Spain, because him live in Spain some years, and arrive to professional in Spain. He told.. "I will play for Congo or Spain, not more".

@doubledutch6rudder The US players are full of steroids, as you probably know. They refuse to pass from anti-doping contol.

@TK2008BEST and again, that would apply to all NBA players. and i dont understand the last part, "the only forbiden in US is drugs"?

@doubledutch6rudder Yes, it does apply to all nba players. But the national us team has only americans.
In nba championship they only check you for drugs.

@doubledutch6rudder There are no any "macedonians", bobo... they are fyromians. Macedonia and Alexander the great are greek names.
Spain is a very good team and doesnt need any africans or americans.
Seems that this team became very strong since last year...

@TK2008BEST Ibaka played in Spain before the NBA. He speaks spanish and he wanted to play with Spain.
xaviqaz 3 months ago 3
@xaviqaz Yes, so what? This happens also to the rest of naturalize players. And they all want to play(money are good)...
TK2008BEST 3 months ago
@TK2008BEST Money? He doesn´t earn big money from playing with Spain. He earns it in NBA
xaviqaz 3 months ago 10
@xaviqaz The usual reason for someone to change country is the money. NBA is more difficult than spanish champion.
