  • r u sure dat u r not a software? becuz it sounds lik ur use samples and drums samples from reason 5

  • o wow i hve tht same kinda dust cleaner

  • man dis sum shit i'd buy (tlking about the beat) btw wht do you think is better akai mpc 500 or akai xr 20

  • could i run my akai mpc 1000 through usb using a software say reason 5, fl studio etc?

  • is that sp1200 in the background ?

  • I just got mine in the mail. Where do you go for some really good samples esp. guitar and vocals? I went to the Akai site and they have a lot of drums and techno but I didn't see very many things for guitar and vocals. Any help?

  • Im thinking about getting the 500, i know its a sampler and sequencer, but does it have built in drum kits?

  • Making beats with this thing is not easy. It took me like two weeks to find out how to work it, then you need to find good drums whether you download them off internet or sample your own through records ect then you need to find vocals, sounds and all that jazz. plus you need to tweak each sample to sound good (volume, length, tune, effects) then you need to find out how to make it fit and be able to arrange the parts of the beat to fit. being organized is vital cuz the smll screen aint no joke

  • @pozzog well did you really think it came with all of that? lol and most people already have beats and samples from stuff like fl studio i really didnt have and problems.

  • @nyteboys word it takes some work ethic but its fun and rewarding once you get it down

  • Dope. Assalamu Alaikum

  • sikkk

  • Anybody know how to bring about the effect at 5.11??

  • very nice vid.

  • So basically those large flat buttons are simply the Drum Sounds,if so im damn late huh?

  • how did u get that bass? thanks

  • dope dude, very nice

  • damn, u better set evry thing before u start to record

  • ive seen wat the mpc can do but i have to admit it wasnt as easy off the bat to play with.. if anyone can tell me how to set up sound kits it'd be love.. i cant figure out how to assign sounds/samples to diff pads sorry for soundin stupid but id still appreciate sum help

  • @Dg8way do u have the manual ??

  • What effect do you use at 5: 11 ?

  • @DutcHcHinK Id like to know that too....

  • i want make a song with your sample il you aare agree my name is arondeale on wat arondeale@msn.com thanks

  • r those memory cards next to u loaded with samples because of the bad memory on the mpc?

  • Too chill, nice production (:

  • das programmieren macht man vor dem video

  • u still got the mpc?? im intrested

  • Beat turned out great!

  • been contemplating on getting one for a while.. besides recording sounds from my vinyl, where can I get ore drum samples and other instrument samples?

    thanks for posting

  • anywhere bro, they make drum kits and sample kits you can buy, or the best way in my opinion to do it is just dig for good sounds then chop them up on your computer..then send em right to the mp via usb

  • that's exactly what I ended up doing. chopping up some cuts..thanks

  • this thing gets goin with those vocal samples.

real nice. How do you like the 500? I love mine with the exception of a few bugs occasionally...

  • Get the newest OS from Akai's site and you should have few problems to none. I can't remember the last time I encountered a bug on my 500 after updating.

  • ah no way! i feel stupid for not knowing there was a new OS.

  • did u fell asleep or wot???

  • nice beat

  • ARRGHH!! I don't know what to get. this now or wait a while for the mpc-1000

  • just wait wait wait wait wait wait.lol. more pads bigger screen

  • is that it

  • nope more features as well

  • would you say an mpd is the same thing

  • no u need a software to run an mpd its just a midi controller.

  • i know but you could also use samples and all that

is the mpc easier to use though?

thankjs for answers by the way

  • No problem. yea the mpc is easier to use and it also has more of a natural swing than software. Are you trynna start producing music?

  • yea but im just trying to see which would be the best choice still

  • i would start off small just to see if u like it than make your way up. i started out with FL studio and still using it

  • nice man

  • Ok peeps I don't know anything about make beats with a mpc and turntable. Can u plug the turntable into the instrument input or do u midi everything?

  • Not generally unless the turntable outputs at line level. In most cases you'll need to have a phono preamp or a DJ mixer in between the turntable and the MPC.

  • nice man !

  • sick

  • Damm this is dope, I am in the process of buying one and this just told me I am doing right :)

  • hehe ok now come i with the questions=)

but first of all this shit is dope meeen props

did you programmed the sounds or are they on the mpc at the beginning?? do you looping with the sound-on-sound system(in layers)??

sorry for my terrible english but i hope ya can read it and understand=)

    peaCe

  • did u upgrade the ram ?

  • Yeah, at the time I bought the 500 Akai was offering a mail in rebate for a 128mb module.

  • sophisticated style and refined. skills.

  • dope as fuck

  • oh by the way can you record samples through the mpc or do you got to upload them through the computer

  • You can do either.

  • how long can you loop

  • As long as the sample time presumably, which with 128mb would be around 12 minutes mono and 24 minutes stereo. With the default 16mb it ships with I can't remember, maybe a minute and a half?

  • no i meant the sample leghnth how long can it sample

  • The same.

  • thanks cuh

  • one last question did you record that sample or did you upload it

  • No, I didn't record it on the MPC.

  • alright thanks man

  • wrote a line to it...

  • eii dawg nice beat i had to bust a freestyle to dat shiiit..hook up..

  • sooo fresh, nice hork ma dude

  • hey, i'm thinkin about getting one of these for the exact same reason. the way i do it now is to record my samples into cubase, normalize them, then mix them back down and import them into ni kontakt. is this more efficient? i want something with a really decent workflow so i can get my ideas right out there. i've heard you chop samples by numbers. is that tedious as hell on the tiny lil two line screen?

  • Chopping by numbers is fine once you get the hang of it and it can even allow for more precise editing.

  • except the only problem is the open hat comes a little late, it throws off my head-bobbing

  • very nice.....keep it up!

  • im diggin it playa real smoov groove

  • dope!

  • lol.. wheres the hiphop?

  • not really my kind of beat but good work man you workin the mpc...i ain't never seen the 500 had some chances to work on a 2000 though and i'm saving up to get one of my own, props for making beats the original way!

  • you are really good. you have what hip hop is missing right now - roots. thanks for uploading this. i'm new to the mpc500, just got it a few days ago. i uploaded the first beat i made, its alright for a first i think. not spamming, just want some feedback. but PROPS to you respect from NJ

  • Thanks qahtani.

  • Cool beats but can anyone upload a demo for these machines that isn't R+B or Hip Hop? Nearly every demo on YouTube is of the same style and Akai must have designed these for not just the black music market (By the way I'm black, before anyone says I'm racist). Someone please post a link that shows a DIFFERENT style of music being produced.

  • If you check out my house remix of RZA's "You Can't Stop Me Now" that I have a video for in my profile, I did that all on the 500. I mean, it's a sampler. Load it up with all the classic drum machines and sounds you want and it's whatever genre you want it to be.

  • rock music, that's ill, i gotta get one, how much? could you use it live/just mixing prerecorded stuff?

  • hey that a good little hot beat you made. i am thinking about getting one i just dont know which one to get either a 500 or a 1000. which one is the best to get man. i just need to know is it worth it or what

  • The 500 does not have:

    1) Not as many pads as the 1000 (not a big deal to me)

    2) Waveform editing (not a big deal if you chop your beats on a computer)

    3) Multiple outs

If none of those are deal breakers for you, then the 500 should suit you fine.

  • i like the drum choice, sounds fresh man keep it up

  • What song did you sample?

Also, how did you get the highpass/lowpass filter on the MPC? I know it's on there, I just can't find it, or I can't get it to work.

  • Program, move the data wheel until it says filter, switch between HP, LP, and BP depending on what you want -- and also assuming you have the latest firmware for the 500 that allows the HP and BP.

  • Sweet, thanks man, also, great works.

    Keep it up.

  • I'm thinking of getting one i never made beats before but i want get into sampling whats is LP HP BP and what is Firmware

  • LP = Low Pass

    HP = High Pass

    BP = Band Pass

Firmware, as defined by Wikipedia is:

    " . . . a computer program that is embedded in a hardware device."

It's what makes the MPC run, in this case.

  • my 500 should be here any day now!! its nice to see somebody rockin this out! im all about sampling and its real encouraging to see this. keep up the good work man..PEACE!!! oh by the way...with the MIC option on the 500, can you record your own voice into the mpc??

  • Yeah, it should work fine as long as you're not trying to connect a mic that requires phantom power.

  • Hot beats with spoken word poetry is like hand in glove.

  • this beat is sick ... keep it up

  • cool

  • Nice flow! :D

I'm pulling off serious rhymes to this track.

Def. Pro. Style from qahtani!! Keep it going!

  • This comes with software, right?

  • Software for what? There's none.

  • <3 <3 <3

  • can u tell me the site for samples to?

  • those cuts flow damn nicely together, nice job

  • ooo skull candy!

  • oh ok thanks man!

  • HEY MAN! were is a good website to download good samples for this?

  • record your samples or just chop em out of a song on your computer cause if you download loops chances a grip of people have already used them

  • Great stuff, keep doing what you're doing. It's guys like this that keep hip-hop alive and pure. More power to the individuals.

  • very good ! keep it up

  • did you layer those drums at 3:20? Or did you just get a factory drum and eq it on the 500?

  • I sampled them off of a record a few weeks prior. I didn't EQ them at that point, except what I might have done originally when they went into the MPC from the mixer.

  • hot...sounds like a beat common would spit on...

  • nice :)
