Master Wang's playing has a very strong SINGING quality that no other zheng players that I've heard of can give me the same impression. MUSIC is ALIVE when she is playing it. These days there are a lot of actings in zheng playing, and when you add the elements of makes ups, hairdos and popular dress codes, the vulgarity index is as high as the sky. Zheng playing becomes a selling of flesh and cheap energy - and what profession does that remind you of??

I am amuse about all these comments. I am Master Wang's student and she is teaching me this piece right now. It isn't easy because it is her father's version and she changed parts of the piece also. Nevertheless, I enjoy learning this piece from my teacher.

Lucky you. I started my Guzheng lessons a year ago. I enjoy my lesson and practice, but I am not very good at it yet. May I ask which city Master Wang live and how did you get to be her sutdent?

Master Wang Changyuan actually lives in New York City and she teaches there. I came to the US many years ago. First time I visited China in 2001 and I saw a demonstration of the guzheng. I was fascinated with this instrument. A few years later I was lucky enough and someone introduced me to the teacher. However, it is very difficult for me to learn because I am an older person and I am very busy all the time. She understands.

Thank you for answer my question. It is too bad that I live too far away, I am in Portland, OR. And she probably has high standard for her students. I am also a busy older person, the reason I started taking Guzheng lessons is to release some stress. I am so glad I did. If you are learning this piece you are already pretty good. How long have been taking lessons?

Yes you are too far away. I like more modern songs so I had my teacher teach me 上海滩，小城故事，夜来香。And I like Cantonese music so I learned 平湖秋月，旱天雷，妆台秋思。I also learned 菊花台，铁血丹心，and 苍海一声笑 on my own。What types of music do you like? Maybe we can exchange so music sheets.

She teaches in Chinatown and Flushing on different days. Contact her at 646-265-5652. Tell her you are referred by Harry. BTW she is giving a concert in Carnegie Hall on 4/1 this year. I will be playing 平湖秋月 and 上海滩 with her. May want to see how her students perform before you take lessons. I am taking lessons on Friday 3PM in Chinatown. You can come and observe my lessons if you wish.

《高山流水》，为中国十大古曲之一。传说先秦的琴师伯牙一次在荒­山野地弹琴，樵夫锺子期竟能领会这是 描绘「巍巍乎志在高山」和「洋洋乎志在流水」。伯牙惊道∶「善哉­，子 之心而与吾心同。」子期死後，伯牙痛失知音，摔琴绝弦，终身不操­，故有高山流水之曲。

古代琴曲。战国时已有关于高山流水的琴曲故事流传，故亦传《高山­流水》系伯牙所作。乐谱最早见于明代《神奇秘谱（朱权成书于14­25年）》，此谱之《高山》、《流水》解题有："《高山》、《流­水》二曲，本只一曲。初志在乎高山，言仁者乐山之意。后志在乎流­水，言智者乐水之意。至唐分为两曲，不分段数。至来分高山为四段­，流水为八段。"两千多年来，《高山》、《流水》这两首著名的古­琴曲与伯牙鼓琴遇知音的故事一起，在人民中间广泛流传。

《高山流水》取材于"伯牙鼓琴遇知音"，有多种谱本。有琴曲和筝­曲两种，两者同名异曲，风格完全不同。

随着明清以来琴的演奏艺术的发展，《高山》、《流水》有了很大变­化。《传奇秘谱》本不分段，而后世琴谱多分段。明清以来多种琴谱­中以清代唐彝铭所编《天闻阁琴谱》（1876年）中所收川派琴家­张孔山改编的《流水》尤有特色，增加了以"滚、拂、绰、注"手法­作流水声的第六段，又称"七十二滚拂流水"，以其形象鲜明，情景­交融而广为流传。据琴家考证，在《天闻阁琴谱》问世以前，所有琴­谱中的《流水》都没有张孔山演奏的第六段，全曲只八段，与《神奇­秘谱》解题所说相符，但张孔山的传谱已增为九段，后琴家多据此谱­演奏。

另有筝曲《高山流水》，音乐与琴曲迥异，同样取材于"伯牙鼓琴遇­知音"。现有多种流派谱本。而流传最广，影响最大的则是浙江武林­派的传谱，旋律典雅，韵味隽永，颇具"高山之巍巍，流水之洋洋"­貌。

山东派的《高山流水》是《琴韵》、《风摆翠竹》、《夜静銮铃》、­《书韵》四个小曲的联奏，也称《四段曲》、《四段锦》。

河南派的《高山流水》则是取自于民间《老六板》板头曲，节奏清新­明快，民间艺人常在初次见面时演奏，以示尊敬结交之意。这三者及­古琴曲《高山流水》之间毫无共同之处，都是同名异曲。

首先, 我們都知王昌元確是大師級. 她的古箏演奏技巧之高, 很多人都豎姆指!

但, 不代表不可按聽者之喜好而有所品評...

再者, 她是演奏其父之譜又如何? 正所謂, 同台食飯, 各自修行! 你可能也不知你父親大人現在想什麼, RIGHT ? 他們有各自之經歷, 亦有各自的風格, 當然是每可能100%的COPY (所以, 她有自己之整編), 其實, 就算是其父自己, 也可能受心情之影響而演出微妙變化...

我不是質疑你的鑑賞水平, 但不能聴取半點別人之不同感覺的, 水平高極有限...

我個人很喜歡此曲, 也喜歡王昌元之演奏. 但同樣感覺到是偏向粗獷古樸, 少了點悠然自得. 是否可惜, 乃見仁見智...本人不認為可惜, 只是風格不同罷了...
