Studios arent making 3D movies just to make more money. If anything, they need to charge more to offset the price of making it in 3D and therefore also the glasses. The main reason for 3D movies is because they show depth much better than a 2D movie. Obviously there are gimics that studios use (mainly for the kids *shakes fist*) but a lot of studios are starting to use 3D for the better purpose of bringing more depth to their shots and pulling the audience into the movie

Star Wars, Tron and a few others were cutting edge because of their implementation of technology and twist on story line now they are old.

While I do agree that directors should be coming out with something new and original I have to say that I really support most of the remakes of old movies. Back when those movies were made perhaps the creator couldn't really go all out on what they wanted it to look like and be like because the technology was not there. Now that it is some want to go back to try and correct or improve to put them at peace..
They should redo The Neverending Story. I might like it more. :/ It has some potential.

It's hard to explain but It was just that Tron created a wierd atmosphere when you watched it. It was nothing to do with the "CGI" or FX (which were obviously good for the era) it was more to do with the way computers would turn out to be EVIL!!!! MUUWAHHHHHHHH!!!
