I've been using the official ICS (Android 4.03) update on my Nexus S phone for a month now with no problems. I've also rooted it and I'm very pleased with it, there's no going back to Gingerbread for me. Battery life is about the same as usual, phone and wifi reception are excellent. Very occasionally the screen redraw in text based apps isn't great and one third party widget (Sense Clock) was causing an erratic display (I removed it and had no more problems). Excellent phone.

@changemaison after i flashed ics 4.0.3 to my nexus s, the screen was flickering badly when i locked and unlocked it, and it took like 5 minutes to turn on after being completely off for a night. after i went back to stock 2.3.6, all those problems were gone. and now it turns on in like 10 seconds :)

@pcd6music Almost every computer uses flash, not quicktime. If you get galaxy s2, you can use flash smoothly and play 60fps 1080p videos (30fps for youtube). Most people that says : Iphone Sucks! or Android phones Sucks! obviously hasn't tried them! They're both top-notch cellphones and even myself can't decide between the two! They're both fun and powerfulll! I'd like to get both but hey, i'm not made of money! :P

I love my Nexus S. But I am shocked that even after 3 years, my iPhone 3GS has a faster browser than this. It doesn't have flash, but it's feels much nicer. And I have tried most of Android browsers.
I got one and I'm selling it. The video and the sound are just horrible. Intolerable for such a priced phone. No HD 720p and awful sound of the music. And no FM radio. I was silly not to check well before. For the rest it is wonderful. The plastic looks bad and cheap though. It's not beautiful at all. Even ugly. But wonderful if you don't use the camera and don't need top quality music and radio.

@jasonwhitton I held the nexus S in my hands and I played with it for some time and I must say that it felt really solid. Compared to the galaxy S i9000 which had really gay build quality, nexus S felt very good in my hands.
Apple does make good quality phones and nice screens, but their iOS is very limited compared to android. Please don't judge by the apps support, android is really better with it's browser and personalization, live wallpapers and widgets. iOS is about to get like OSx on PCs.

@p4t4rs The Nexus S hardware supports HD video recording, the codec however is not included due Google not having the necessary contract. Wait a few weeks and there'll be a hack for it :)

A perfect phone for me and I think almost anybody would be exactly this one BUT with external memory too even though it got 16gb internar, HD recording, better sound while recording and smooth zooming and switching between landscape and portrait mode like the iPhone even though I don't like that phone and the speaker should also be at the bottom like the iPhone for better quality while it's on a table and for better looks. lol x)
I have always used Android phones since they came out in 2008 and I love the Nexus branded phones. I don't think the the iPhone is better than Android anymore but if the iPhone 5 can get some real notifications then I might reconsider. I do own a new iPod touch and I plan to buy a MacBook Pro in 2011. I only think that 2 Android phones are better then the iPhone and they are the Nexus One and Nexus S only.

Great review, although I gotta point out that the display is actually flat and any benefits perceived from having a "contour" display are purely psychological. The frame is curved, but the actual screen is not.
They just used "contour display" as a hype phrase against the iPhone's retina display (which has practical upsides of being the highest PPI display on the market). Other than that, I loved the review and I wish the Nexus S worked in the 3G bands up here in Canada. :(

@derderderr0o I choose SAMOLED, even thoughk I thin it has some problems. You can actually see the gaps between the pixels due to the pentile matrix used for the Super AMOLED screen, but the colours and contrast are simply staggering so I prefer it over the retina display.

I have always used Android phones since they came out in 2008 and I love the Nexus branded phones. I don't think the the iPhone is better than Android anymore but if the iPhone 5 can get some real notifications then I might reconsider. I do own a new iPod touch and I plan to buy a MacBook Pro in 2011. I only think that 2 Android phones are better then the iPhone and they are the Nexus One and Nexus S only.

@najiboyz92 Android is actually a lot faster then iOS, mind you I got 3 iOS devices (No iPad) and I have to say Android is a much more advanced experience. On the Nexus S it does not lag at all and it beats the iPhone in speed, while offering more features and customization.

For the rest, I have jailbroken one of my iOS devices and yeah, still more customizable. Please don't speak of things you don't know that much about dude! Android is open source meaning anyone who wants to can see and edit the code, meaning that Android devices can have applications tweaking the hardware functioning and such in a way that even with a Jailbroken iOS is hard to impossible.

Great review, although I gotta point out that the display is actually flat and any benefits perceived from having a "contour" display are purely psychological. The frame is curved, but the actual screen is not.
They just used "contour display" as a hype phrase against the iPhone's retina display (which has practical upsides of being the highest PPI display on the market). Other than that, I loved the review and I wish the Nexus S worked in the 3G bands up here in Canada. :(

@derderderr0o I choose SAMOLED, even thoughk I thin it has some problems. You can actually see the gaps between the pixels due to the pentile matrix used for the Super AMOLED screen, but the colours and contrast are simply staggering so I prefer it over the retina display.
