The beginning of the song is very similar to the traditionnal "Willy O'Winsbury", particulary Pentangle's version (which was recorded afterward though). Anyone know if there's a story behind that?
@walkquietlyby i always thought it was the same sound as the song in the wicker man soundtrack. probably the same one. a traditional folk piece i reckon
I do so agree - eeMondili!!! A rarely heard, but really great acoustic album that is totally Unique - we will not hear the like of it again!! I am doing my best to promote it on the 'Net'!
i have a version of this..its 1 of billion...i have the only copy ov it..havent found it any were else on the net...message me..i have it uploaded on here..its by jimboooong...check it out
Great song. I think I can call Roy Harper a philosipher aswell. Without trying to sound rude here, is Harper a homosexual cause I saw this picture of him and Robert Plant in drag?
@Django5198 Take a close listen to Forbidden Fruit, Commune, and Another Day by the great man, and I think you will have your answer.
Incidentally, the last time I wore women's clothes was to a Stranglers concert in Cardiff in 1979!! I must say I enjoyed it, despite having to endure hearing 'nice legs, shame about the face' all evening!!
So yours were the legs whose memory has thrilled me for 30 years. I am an otherwise decent and proper Cardiffian, but Is it too late for us to dress up together ... ?
@Drblooter99 I have never heard of a 'decent and proper Cardiffian' before. Surely this is a contradiction in terms!! Apart from the time when I wore a mini-skirt and pink fluffy T-shirt to the Stranglers concert alluded to, my legs were also frequently on display around South Wales during my games for Llantwit Major Rugby Club - oh yes, I am all man really!!!!
So pleased to re-acquaint myself with an album I thought I'd never hear again. It's an angry young man song, but the genius is making it so haunting as well. Still gives me the shivers, even now.
I've been re-listening to Roy H again over the last a couple of years and only really now recognise his genius, not a term I use frequently. I've added his Lifemask and Stormcock albums to my Must Have list. Let's hope he comes out of retirement for a few more live shows. Thanks for posting this great track.

Yes, you're a man really -- and I'm not really gay, never liked the Stranglers, and I might not even be from Cardiff!
Hey dude, get virtual -- this is the Net!!
