I need your help with the s330. when you truncate samples why does it move the truncated parts to another sample usually over on top and thus losing a previous sample? how do you stop this?
The hoover sample did come from a alpha juno synth as i asked about this in Future music or Computer music mag as the sound is superb and always wanted to know where it came from.Superb vid well done
I dontt know, myself i can't imagine using it without
VGA adapter: 15€
Ultrasatan SDcard drive: 70€
USB mouse adapter: 20€
I did not pay for my atari, i swapped it, i recommend a 1040STE at least, or above > Falcon etc. I have a 1040STF boosted to 4mb but it lacks an audio output.
Actually the biggest problem is to find Avalon, find it with the dongle. I paid 60€ for mine last year.
That plus the old 12 bits samplers are awesome synthesis engine, still!
part 2 :Early 90's' technology but it is great with the right mediumsto save your work in the Atari (sdcard drives>Ultrasatan) . And connect your S330 to a tv card on your computer.
Awesome, could you show us a little bit more about it?
I'm seriously considering purchasing a hardware sampler because I'm fed up with all the bullshit I have to go through with computers. I'm trying to decide between this (the roland S-330) and the Akai s950.
Thanks I'll look into that, at the moment I'm considering the new product from "Teenage Engineering" it looks amazing, can't wait for a release price and RRP to be announced.
@djchriskola: I've got one, I think I just need to splash out and get some software, I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something simple and stable that lets me play around with samples quickly before I loose the idea that I had in my head.

Is that a commodore CRT? lol
raymangold22 7 months ago
@raymangold22 The sampler predates VGA! you'll need a monitor that supports RGB, the old commodore amiga and atari colur monitors are perfect...
djchriskola 7 months ago
@djchriskola So you mean а 9-pin connector? That's called CGA (later EGA), not "RGB".
Also, 8-bit ISA VGA cards do exist, they're just rare and expensive.
raymangold22 7 months ago
@raymangold22 no, he means RGB, three seperate RCA jacks, one for red, one for green, one for blue.
HTCHACKEREXTREEME 7 months ago
@HTCHACKEREXTREEME That's rather odd seeing as the 5150 used one RCA jack for all three channels.

part 1: These old samplers wins to be connected to an Atari running Steinberg Avalon for exemple.
I like this program a lot since it got dedicated drivers to mididump to S950, Emax or S330. Which they dont do normally.
The Wave generation in Avalon is a modular environment ala Reaktor or Clavia G2: you drag modules and connect the cables.
You get substractive, fractal, karplus strong synthesis, Waveshaping
FFT...effects like ringmod ampmod distortion etc...mixers too;

AWESOME! Can you record you playing T99's Anasthasia or James Brown is Dead? I wish I could get its samples somewhere, just for personal enjoyment.
