The thing is, we are loved. We are adopted. We are re-membered to Christ through everything HE did, and we cannot do ANYTHING to add to what He's accomplished on the Cross. He did everything out of love, and even when they hated Him and accused Him before Pilate, His condemnation set Barrabas free. He loves us beyond our ability to comprehend, and He does it all without conditions. He just loves us, and the only thing that separates one from Him is that you think you are separated.
Given time more people will discover that many of our medieval interpretations didn't reflect what the original biblical text meant. Rob just found that earlier and remains courageous. And not alone.
What happens when you die? Have you told lies, stolen, used God's name in vain(10 Commandments)? If yes, then you're a liar, thief, and a blasphemer in the sight of God. When you die & be judged by God, you'll be guilty of sin, & go to Hell! But God sent His Son Jesus to shed His blood & die on a cross for your sins, He was buried & rose again from the dead on the third day. If you'll believe the Gospel(Jesus died for your sins, was buried & resurrected)you'll not perish & have eternal life
The Bible isn't even Biblically sound.. Most of you have done very little study of the Bible and the books removed by the men in charge. You win God is a god that created beings imperfect and then punishes them for how he made them. He created many people and only selected a few to be his own... hmmmm.. sounds wonderful...lol.. Love is ALL...
@BirthingDivinity God did not make us sinful, man chose sin. It's funny how so many are dismissive about Gods word the bible, usually so they can live how they please because they love their sin.
@BirthingDivinity First you have not read the bilble yourself, because if you had you would have seen that God didn't create sin, man and woman sined in the garden of eden thats how sin entered into this world, but God came and died for are sins if you would except what He did for you on the Cross that Jesus Christ died for you and rose from the dead and put your trust in Him and confess yours sins and He will save you! and then read Romans chapter 6 ,
@s25598 I have red the Bible on levels you wouldn't believe, to the point of going to original meanings of the words. Not only that but Jesus was not HIS NAME. Not only that but the Bible has had many books thrown out that break down more of the acutuality of Christ than the Bible you read today. Also I am sure you know very little of African/Kehemetic cosmology where many of the scriptures and myths of teh Bible originate. God is not a male principle, nor is He fire & brimstone.
Most insecure people need a reason to feel they are better than others and assume that what they know is truth. Western civilization lies. The bIble is not infallible most of it comes from the Book of The Dead. Constantine created what he wanted to with the Bible to control people not because he loved God or because God loved him.
@BirthingDivinity first of all the true text was in Greek for the New Testament which was written way before constantine and he was a pagon not a true Christian, The Greek texts were the origional and they where not falable, and if you do not believe the truth you will put your ownself in the lake of fire because you do not believe the truth!
@s25598 So the Hebrew version and chapters were fallible? ok... Whatever. I don't believe in the Lake of Fire or the watered down Bible you base your life on. The parts of teh Bible I will quote for you is this... Who can say who will asecnd and descend. Learn your infallible Bible because your knowledge and belief in it... holds you accountable to its teachings and your condemnation of me... is condemnation of yourself... lol.. That is All from your New Testament. Find it...
@BirthingDivinity the Greek spells Jesus (Iesous) Christ(Christos). I did not judge you God's words will judge. I'm telling the truth, God said if you do not believe the truth, you will go to the lake of fire and it is eternal. He said so. Jesus is God in the flesh and he made away to escape, beleive Jesus paid the full price on the cross and rose on the third day, and put your trust in Him and repent of your sins and you will be saved. But you must beleive.
NO MAN can say who will go to Hell.. nor should he want to... lol.. WHere is your Love? You speak of God's words but you do not know him. You are the kind that Jesus would not even talk with. He would look at you as the white-washed wall you are... lol. may His Love and Mercy truly shine on and in You so that you will become a true disciple.
@clsearcy16 Christianty will never die! False teachers and theres false christian or carnal christians are not of God they are lost , The True Church of Christ will never die but these false one's will if they don't repent!!!
Rob Bell is about the most Biblically ignorant "pastor" I've ever seen.... The "Gospel is the fact that Jesus died for our sins, thus freeing us from the power of the law of sin and death!
Look you guys are arguing if god is angry? Know that god is everywhere at once? He can talk To all of us at once? Matter of fact he's sent his angles to my bedroom to watch me when I fall asleep. And he's in my room if I need to talk to him. That shows that god us all powerful. So picture this, your a parent, you have some free workers to create a room for you 6 year old.
however one of those workers think he's smarter than you, the parent. That worker adds in a mountain of drugs, candy, alcoh
Sounds like that Snake?, in the Garden of Eden, "God says you will surely die? God really says you will die?" and Today: "Is there really a Hell? Hell, forever?" The Truth is with the Magnitude 9 earthquake in Japan, Past Quakes in China, New zealand, Sumatura, Phukit, Chili, killing millions, turmoil in the mid east, death around the globe, Satan knows time is short, is desperate, so here it is, his version of "Love" in sync with M. Jacksons "Heal the World" , while denying God's Word.
I definitely agree with the idea that this isn't a biblically sound presentation if God. To say that God isn't angry is to say that he's ok with our sin and hes not. Over and over again the Bible talks about that. As one person said earlier. If God was ok with the sin.. We wouldn't need Christ. This is a tough issue to deal with but just as anything.. It takes biblical discernment.
if god wasnt angry than there wouldnt be any hell thered be no forgivness THERED BE NO NEED FOR JESUS! how can that make sense? how when you see this can you even for a moment believe god is not angry. sure when you ask for forgivness God forgives you but he is still constantly angry at sin. if he wasnt we'd all go to heaven which would be great but thats not how it works. we need to ask for forgivness so we will not be thrown in hell for our sins! God is angry with sin.
god uses people to spread his word but the debate then becomes does that mean that anyone can bring reconsiliation to anyone or does that mean that only selected people by god and bring reconsiliation through god. also at the end when he says god is not angyr.. that is the biggest lie of all. god is furious at sin and will punish sin with an eternity in hell.
When someone gets angry it is because what someone else said offends you and hurts you. If God exists and is all powerful, no one can offend him, no one can change his mood. It is impossible to hurt him the same way that it is impossible for a grain of sand to hurt you.
However, you are angry, which means what Rob Bell has just said hurts you. The sole idea of pure love without desire for vengeance offends you somehow. Go figure!
@gugamilare i love god and what he says offends me cause its leading people astray. what you just said is implying that we can not anger god yet in the bible it happens all the time. look up John 2:15. god gets angry that the temple was being used wrongfuly and gets angry at our sin and will punish it unless we ask for forgivness, but because god is kind he is quick to forgive but you can not confuze that with not being angry at all.
@izadefender The fact that the bible tells that god was angry at people means people thought god was angry, not god was angry. The feelings that you think god has about situations that you see in your real life is actually your anger projected on him, not his.
As for John 2:15, Jesus was angry, but not punishing anyone, he was trying to teach them a lesson.
An advice: don't ever use god's thoughts to justify your opinion, because you don't know what he thinks. Say it for yourself.
@gugamilare jesus and god are the same you can say jesus was angry but god wasnt their apart of the trinity they cant be described as two different people. thats first off. second off im not saying i know gods thoughts im saying thats whats in the bible so are you telling me you only believe in some parts of the bible? and lastly if your going to say gods not angry then why is there hell? why do we need gods forgivness? why did jesus come to earth? if gods not angry we dont need him for heaven
@izadefender As a matter of fact, I'm an atheist, so I don't believe in the bible as "the source of truth". I'm not one to say that there is certainly no god, but, if there is a god, he does not look like anything Christians usually portray him. If god were to be angry, he would be angry at how he is portrayed as a vengeful, intolerant being and at the absurdities people say he thinks to justify their own actions.
As for Hell, it is impossible, it contradicts the concept of benevolence of god.
@izadefender One more thing: not even you believe in everything the bible says, otherwise you would endorse stoning people to death, enslavement, cutting people's hand, cursing in the name of Yahweh for him to send bears to kill little children that are offending you for being bald...
@gugamilare first disiples were getting stoned not stoning, second ocutting of the right hand if it sins thing is speaking figurtivly third jesus freed slaves fourth making fun of a disiple is a sin and it is said that god will have his vengance on sin so ifyou dont repent for it you'll be in hell for eternity. id rather be attacked by bears. if you going to try and block out the parts of the bible you dont like you will not have real faith or a real relationship with Christ
@gugamilare the last party about koran i dont see how that has anything to do with what were discussing. and no number 2 is what rob bell does. look up his video were his neihbor is shoveling his drive way or watever. he specifcally says " peter didnt sink in the water cause he lacked faith in god, he sank because he lacked faith in himself" now on the serface that sounds great and profound but think about it hes saying he doesnt need god. and hes miss interprting gods love as gods not angry
@izadefender In his whole lecture, it is clear that what he means by "gods aren't angry" is that ancient people offered sacrifices for the gods to calm them down and that Jesus' sacrifice means that those sacrifices offered to the gods weren't needed in the first place. In other words, it means "don't panic".
Rob Bell chooses
4) to study the bible historically and draw conclusions with critical thinking
which is closer to (3) than to (2). That makes him a tolerant and respectful human being.
@izadefender I just found this video: watch?v=RqwAVimMO4w
Watch this video and think twice whether you do believe in it entirely as it is written, or if you choose the good parts and pretend that the bad parts simply do not exist.
@gugamilare i dont base my faith on videos about what other people believe and how they present it. i could present the bible as saying were all supposed to kill eachother does that make it true? and about your other post saying rob is just saying we dont need to do sacrifises and stuff. ok if he's really just refering to we dont have to make sacrifises than yes i DO agree with that but i dont think thats what hes saying. i think hes saying we dont even need to apoligize cause god isnt mad
@izadefender Do you think it is a good thing to believe on something and disregard every opinion contrary to it? Well, it's not. You should listen more to people that disagree with you. After all, what can you learn from people that already think like you? Who is not afraid of the truth is also not afraid of lies.
As for the bible, how you present it does not change what is written in there, yes, it doesn't matter how much you say that it doesn't contain violence, it still does.
@gugamilare you miss understood. i dont base my faith on just anyones videos. i found in my opinion rob bell to be unreliable, but lets say my pastor says somthing. that i'll believe. but my pastor also said somthing very important. he said "trust others, but double check" meaning believe and think about what others believe but check the bible to see what you believe.
that God is not angry? God is angry with the sinner every (yes, the word of God says every) day. Only Jesus can take that judgement away from you and bring you peace with God.
To tell the Christ-rejector that God loves him is to cauterize his conscience as well as to afford him a sense of security in his sins. The fact is, the love of God is a truth for the saints only, and to present it to the enemies of God is to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dogs.~AW Pink
2 Cor 5:14-21 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for ALL, then were ALL dead: And that he died for ALL, that they (all mankind) which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth KNOW WE NO MAN AFTER THE FLESH: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet NOW henceforth know HIM NO MORE (AFTER THE FLESH). [1 Tim 4:9-11 the Saviour of all mankind] GODS LOVE WINS!
2 Cor 5:14-21 Behold, all things (men) are become new. And all things (men) are of God, who hath reconciled us (all men) to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us (all humans) the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God (the Father) was in Christ, reconciling the world (all men) unto himself (God, the Father) NOT imputing their trespasses unto them (all mankind). NO, God is not angry with anyone! He's your friend! He does not remember our sins, of the past or the future. LOVE WINS!
2 Cor 5:14-21 Behold, all things (men) are become new. And all things (men) are of God, who hath reconciled us (all men) to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us (all mankind) the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God (the Father) was in Christ, reconciling the world (all men) unto himself (God, the Father) NOT imputing their trespasses unto them (all mankind). NO, God is not angry with anyone! He's your friend! He does not remember our sins, of the past or the future. LOVE WINS!
@HugsnJesus 2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
(the scripture says IF ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST notice the IF IF IF not all people but IF you are in Christ, not that ALL PEOPLE ARE BECOME NEW AS YOU SUGGEST.
God has given the Christians the ministry of reconciliation, that means we the Christians are to go out and try and bring people into relationship with God.
@HugsnJesus How can God give all mankind the ministry of reconciliation??? so do mean to say that God has given to everybody the job to bring everybody to God, but if everybody was given that job then there would be nobody to reconcile because everybody would know God, IT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE! you get that job when you become a Christian.
Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Not all men are become new, you need Christ to become new. The scripture clearly show that not all people will or do know Christ. and if they don't choose Christ then Gods wroth is on them.
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Jesus said, "repent and believe the gospel."(Mark 1:15) Why? Because Psalms 5:5b says, "You (God) hate all who do iniquity." God does not and cannot simply just forgive you. He sent His Son to die for a people, and on the Cross God crushed His only Son giving Him the due punishment for all those who would believe. But for those who dont believe, God is very angry, and He will show that righteous indignation on you in Hell forever, because Hell is the presence of God's Holy hatred.
The word "GOSPEL" basically means "GOOD NEWS"---Good News that we DON'T have to go to hell. We must simply accept God's salvation plan thru our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be "born again" to enter heaven. The name "JESUS" means "SAVIOR" and He came to SAVE us from going to hell and that we would have a relationship with Him.
Yes, Love wins and it ONLY comes from Jesus Christ---Jesus created LOVE--He IS Love! "For GOD so LOVED the world..." Jesus Christ (John 3:16)
We have to realize mr bell is stretching the boundaries of what "preaching" is.
This is in reality performance art with a message. Only personal interviews or conversations with, mr bell regarding his specific views on his relationship with Christ can shed light on his place in the kingdom
Much leeway is and should be given to art for our King
The Gospel continues to work through his body (the church in the world). Do you not know that your body is a temple of the holy spirit? This work of redemption continues to go out through his body. and this is what I get from Rob Bells message. The world will know He lives by the way we love. These sunday school messages being posted, I don't think Rob Bell would disagree with, in fact I don't see the conflict others seem to be crying out here. I think calling him a heretic is a bit much.
So am I to understand that the Gospel begins and ends with Jesus and his loving sacrifice, which by the way I understand people ,you do not need to give me you sunday school notes, but to continue, am I to understand that the Gospel begins and ends with Jesus and his loving sacrifice? I always figured that The Gospel was more than this. That the Gospel begins with Jesus and his loving sacrifice and resurrection and his transforming work in our lives. that in fact the Gospel continues to...
@RonMaday-God IS love. And God is the ONLY judge, because God alone is omniscient, and Jesus is God in human form, who chose to die to die on the cross to show humans God's true essence: LOVE. Human judgement is the original sin, and judgmental "Christians" are just another hate group.
@ozmaja God does love, He loved us enough to slaughter His ONLY Son on our behalf. God HATES sin, that's why Jesus died and all who fail to turn from their sins and trust in His righteousness and sacrifice for sin will die in their sins, and stand before the Judge as the criminal they are.
That's because a lot of American Christians don't ever realize they're being unorthodox about the gospel. Because the gospel is the good news that God has created a way out of evil through the person of Jesus Christ. A way out of the evil inside of us through repentance, and a way out of the evil in the world by doing all sorts of good works that God has prepared for us to do (Eph. 2:10). Faith without works, St. James, the brother of Jesus, says, are dead. (James 2:14-26)
@pockmarkedbuttocks Now that's Christ like... Insult someone. Good job... Nothing about God or his Son embarrass me. So called "Christians" like you and others that just insult instead of discuss things like grown ups are embarrassing. You all should be ashamed.
@pockmarkedbuttocks - First off please do not assume I haven't read Romans 1. I am intimately familiar with what it says. I was not only referencing Rob Bell. Even @jacobhazy did not deserve a shot for explaining his interpretations of what Rob Bell has said. When we argue points the minute you insult, your point becomes an afterthought in everyone else's eyes. You now argued like a grade schooler, whether your point was right or not. Its childish and doesn't need to be done.
@pockmarkedbuttocks Also please don't assume I am easily swayed but any man. God is my guide. All the arguments I've heard against Rob is that he's preaching heresy. Well if @jacobhazey is right then that wouldn't be heresy?!?! But you all have the only valid argument right?!?! I've met Rob Bell and I've listened to him speak. No I don't agree with everything he says, but he's far from heretical. Have you met him? Do you know his heart? I bet the answer is no. God is his judge not you!
@Kujo21 There is justification for judging Rob as he should be judged to see whether his beliefs line up with the Bible. Not just some scriptures or ideas, but the whole thing. False teachers creep into the church and lead people to damnation. My views on Rob will remain unstated, but in regards to any preacher (or believer for that matter), they are to be held in discernment by all who hear. Or would one rather sit on their hands shut their mouths and believe like an unreasoning animal?
@CowboyBob7 You really need to re-read what I wrote. They are calling it heresy on a 10min video. I can pull of a 1 min. vid of Billy Graham that will make you think he has lost is marbles. And while you're at it re-read what @jacobhazy said. He had a good opinion on what Rob Bell meant. And when did I ever say "sit on their hands shut their mouths and believe like an unreasoning animal?". FYI...The Christian Church has been doing this for YEARS.
@pockmarkedbuttocks are you serious right now? Did you just call someone douchey all the while telling them to read romans 1? wow. step back and think before you speak dude.
that we are good... Hate what is evil and love what is good... God loves us and isn't angry if we mess up. if we mess up he forgives and forgets. like the woman mentioned in this video who had seen Jesus, He could not remember the man's sin... He forgives, forgets, and loves.
i think what he's trying to convey is that God is love. and yes it does say that. in romans it says love what is good and hate what is evil. In Genesis 1 27:31 it says God made man and everything that day (including man) and He saw that it was very good. My interpretation of the video was that God loves us for many reasons. He loves us because He made us, He loves us because He, Elohim, Yahweh made us in His image and saw that we are good. There are no bad people, because God made us and saw...
Shame on you Rob Bell for preaching heresy. God is just as angry as he is caring. Psalm 5:5 says that God hates all evildoers, yet John 3:16 say God loves the world. Both are in the Bible, and both are true. God must hate if he also loves. Can one love Jews and not hate the holocaust? Or love kids and not hate when they are sexually abused? Likewise a God that loves MUST also hate. God is angry, and one day Rob Bell will find out just how angry God is when charged with leading thousands astray!
@2Corinthians5l20x21 I think you are confusing two words that mean different things. God hates evil doers...In particular the SIN. Rob Bell is talking about Anger. You took 10mins out of what an hour and half of footage to call HERESY. Instead of taking Psalm 5:5 as 1 sentence try reading the whole chapter next time. It'll enlighten you. Before calling heresy try to take the message as a whole (not just 10min). You can disagree with what you heard but its not necessarily heresy.
I went to a Christian school based on the belief that baptism is required for a person to be saved. Why is it so hard for overreligious people to understand that this is not what we should fight over? We should fight to glorify God. Not to be a curse.
incannottolerateit- read luke 4:16-the end, and tell me what Jesus mission was.... It was to bring the "Good News", not to tell everyone how bad they are.... It is God's grace that get's us to see our sin and want to repent.. look at the example of the woman caught in adultery, I can't imagine you handling that situation the way Jesus did, from what I've seen in your videos, I question whether you would have been throwing stones with the other religious people..
@wtshirt27 Actually his mission was "I came so that they may know thee, the one true God". Christ came so that we may know God and have fellowship with him, those are his exact words.
People ARE evil. TO suggest otherwise is to ignore the entirety of the Bible.
Why did Peter fall at Jesus' feet, weep, and tell Jesus to depart from him because he was a sinner? Did you ignore that?
Why did Mary Magdalene cry at Jesus' feet for a long time wiping those same feet with her tears?
@wtshirt27 You ignore Mary Magdalene and her tear filled repentance. You ignore Peter and his tear filled repentance. You ignore Paul's three day struggle without sleep, water of food trying to seek repentance.
Rob Bell would lead us to believe we just jovially run to the mercy seat with a smile on our face. How can we smile about the fact we are wretched sinners?
O wretched man that I am who can deliver me from this body of death?! Are those happy words spoken by Paul in Romans?
@Icannottolerateit as a christian, religious people like you sadden me because I think of how many people you are turning away from God by going around basically telling people how bad they are and until they change God won't forgive them... Take a look back in the new testament and look at who Jesus rebuked... It was ALWAYS the RELIGIOUS PHARISEES..... God's grace leads us to Repentance, not the other way around.. Romans 2:4- he is tolerant, patient, etc.. he was with you and still is..
Wait why are they clapping at the end? Is everyone there converted? Unlikely, 120 Christians in Jerusalem turned the entire world upside down, these crowds did not even wake up the neighbors.
Repenting is not fun....it hurts....that is the point. Not living like this means pain, pain from leaving your sin and the hurt that will cause.
Yet Jesus is willing to forgive, if you only repent.
God is not angry? Actually God is angry with us UNTIL we repent. And repentance does not come easy. It involves letting go of the sins we are so attached to.
It is not a mere conscious decision, it is like a comet falling from the sky and
There are more LAUGHS than TEARS when most preachers speak. Repentance does not come through laughs, but is actually a painful experience.
The Church is very close to being wholly purged....the end cannot be too far..but who knows how patient God is.
@Icannottolerateit God is never angry at us as individiuals thats what hes trying to say,yes no one is perfect, and yes every ones sin,But God will always love you. He isnt angry at you but of what yu do...Because you dont have to live like this.I've already breought peace but yu choose not to follow.
@GabrielProductions1 Except Rob Bell is not correct and rarely uses the Bible except sparingly and sporadically. I can always tell if a man speaks and preaches more than he prays.
God is a righteous judge, And a God who has indignation every day. Psalms 7:11
It has nothing to do with what you do, but what you ARE. We ARE the child of Satan before conversion. Jesus says as much when he speaks to the Pharisees;
It is interesting how much Jesus and the Old Testament prophets sound SO much alike. Calling people to community and caring for each other. How close do our churches come to this ideal.
These are pretty basic statements that really can't be refuted. Why must so many try to distort in one direction or the other. i am in love with Gods word. It is who God is. John said Jesus is the word in living, breathing, flesh and blood. The bible is it's best own interpreter. Yes, Rob does stretch the meaning of things and those discrepancies should be addressed but in a way that also communicates Gods love.
All arguments aside. Jesus was the reconciliation for our sin and all who would ever sin. He was the all in all sacrifice period. No more for us to add or take away from. He also said that if you did not except him as your reconciliation to God you would die in your sin. You must be born again. Jesus also said he was the only way to God and that NOBODY could come to the father but through him.
Why is everyone going on about this? I can't see anything controversial. Jesus HAS provided reconciliation for all people, but it can't be ours until we accept it. Also I can't really tell what context this was in because it seems to start in the middle of a point.
Wether he is rite or wrong, that is not for us to decied we were never made to judge, just to live for god, did god not say judge as you whant to be judged, its down to our lord to judge, i pray for any of you who are judging and god bless you
@MrTheKingsknight I always wonder why we are accused of not understanding the culture of scriptures when it is so obvious Christ never intended anyone to never judge but rather to stop judging from our own standards of righteousness. God never intended us to not discern whether one is speaking the truth or not. In fact, if you read the whole chapter-Christ teaches us how to discern truth from the falseby judging the fruits-results of false doctrine and teaches narrow is the way of Christ
Jesus didn't come to save us from an angry God, who needs to have a blood sacrifice to appease His unquenchable anger, this is not what he taught or practiced... Jesus taught and practiced the kingdom of is NOW ~ just believe...<3
@dhridhri You live like Jesus and preach his Gospel more effectively and you live selflessly and love people more deeply and are more and more devoted to God, The Holy Spirit, and Jesus....well that doesn't make much sense. So i guess he reads his Bible a lot then.
Yes, God is angry. The book of Daniel and Revelation in the Holy Bible agree.
Genesis 6:6 "And The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart". God is very much angry with us --because of His love for us. If He's not angry, why do we need mercy from our sin?
He finishes his act with "God isn't angry", but leaves out Jesus, the Cross, Repentance, Grace, turning to Him... ya know, the most important part.
I'm very weary of his 'performance' techniques. Both this and his 'Velvet Elvis' book have a smoke screen layered in it. Velvet Elvis doesn't quote any scripture or even tell you how to repent and turn to God.
I feel on guard listening to him. Any mention of the atonement of Jesus Christ would make me more comfortable. I'll not be listening to Bell, there are plenty of sufficient teachers.
Look for "Bell defends himself and his church". He's doing what he feels is right by God. This has been taken out of context, to cut Bell down for that is not fair. Yes we should check the preachers by the word but I personally have found God in a much deeper way by Bells work.
NO GOSPEL in it? please define what gospel is for you, cause I saw gospel all over that. Loving the unloved, changing lives with love, Loving the least of these.. reconciliation has been made.. so please.. say what you want, but don't tell me that the gospel wasn't in there. It just wan't said the way you wanted said. I'm so tired of judgement. If you think he's so wrong, why don't you stop and pray for him. brothers, sisters..there's a bigger fight to be fought than against each other.
@baggyeyeproductions " please define what gospel is for you...The Gospel is: God's only begotten Son, Jesus, made manifest in the flesh, crucified on a cross, redeeming all who will repent of their sin, believe, obey, & follow Him. 3 days later, He conquered the power of death, hell and the grave by rising from the tomb in which he was buried. 40 days later, He ascended to the right hand of God, where He ever lives to intercede for those who surrender all to Him, and await His imminent return.
@baggyeyeproductions The gospel is: God is holy, man is sinful. The Father sent His Son to die on the cross as our substitute; He died in our place since our death would not pay for our sins. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. He also satisfied the righteous anger of God toward our sins since the Father poured out all His wrath on His Son on the cross. Jesus rose again and is seated at the right hand of the Father. If you believe & confess this on faith then you will be saved.
@baggyeyeproductions The Gospel is that Jesus suffered the full wrath of God in our place. The ONLY person to ever live perfectly and obtain God's favor by His life switched places with us and suffered God's wrath in our place (Romans 5:8-9) so by turning from our sins and trusting in the righteousness of Jesus and His death on our behalf because of our filthy sins we are counted as righteous before God. This man is a heretic, not a "brother".
@RonMaday-The way you present your idea of the Gospel, it ends with Christ suffering and dying so that God could count us righteous. But there's more to the Gospel than just that. The Gospel is the story of Christ's life as well as His death. Scripture tells us that Christ dwells in us, and so the Gospel also includes the stories of Christians letting Jesus live through them throughout history. Those examples in the video, those are examples of the body of Christ being Christ to a broken world.
@baggyeyeproductions How about repentance and faith in the Son of God who laid down His life for His sheep and took it back up again? How about the punishment of the disobedient and faithful, of false prophets and teachers who spread poisonous heresies? How about the coming of the Son of Man to judge to quick and the dead, to expose every hidden thing, whether good or evil, and repaying all according to what they've done?
@0snowqueen0 actually it seems he's memorized the book of job, as he quotes about 10 minutes of it in the "whirlwind" nooma video, and i'm sure he's read the bible at least 10 times more than you as he has gone through one of the toughest seminary schools in the country, which certainly requires sound doctrine of their students.
My supposition is that people just can't get over the fact that a pastor would actually be a good rhetorician and not stand in front of a large block of wood. His doctrine is generally sound, (can't just say that any one person's doctrine is completely sound) his ideas and thoughts on scripture aren't usually even his own, they are many times based on deep theological debates he simply draws together and elaborates on. However, theological debates are something most people are unfamiliar with.
You are correct, most people are unfamiliar with theological debates. Rob Bell did not diplay sound doctrine. Even so, if it was "generally sound" why listen? Is not even 1% poison still poison? The evil one clothes his words in beauty to decieve us. Not Once in this entire video was a single verse of scripture mentioned. Read 2 timothy 4:1-4, 2 timothy 2, Acts 20:28-30, 1 Corinthians 2. All the while we are to correct in "love and gentleness". Love is not the answer. Jesus is.
@TheTotalVoice So are we supposed to believe that everything that comes from your mouth is 100% sound doctrine? This is why I already elaborated for you in my post you responded to "can't just say that any one person's doctrine is completely sound." Discernment is taking the meat from the bones. Not everything everyone says is perfect, but we are to test everything. I was simply stating that "generally speaking", RB is a good preacher, no preacher is perfect.
I understand. This of course is the trouble with text on a computer screen. We are to test everything! The dilemma to me is that Rob systematically sells his ideas as questions and stories which are swallowed by the consumer. At the same time assumptive truths are included. At 9:30 he takes a leap into obscurity stating "This God is not angry" Notice the word "This". That word is permissive and allows other gods. To me a good preacher clarifies. ~In love ;-)
@TheTotalVoice love is not the answer, but jesus is? that makes no sense. his command was "LOVE your god". and you are trying to argue that love plays no part in that? second command. "LOVE your neighbor". and love is still not the answer? how about corinthians 13 "faith hope and love, the greatest of these is love." the word of god pronounces love's value over faith.. and your trying to say jesus and love are not the same thing?
@Vinny192 Excellent point. Love is a critical aspect of following Jesus Christ. Showing others Love is how we as believers demonstrate to the world and to our father, who our surety, our savior, and who we answer to is. That of course is Jesus Christ. I do agree with most everything that can be said about Jesus being an example of love. Is he "Love"? I find no scripture stating this. John 18:37, 14:6 both speak to himself being truth.
Jesus is.
You really should remove that utterly stupid video clip "You" because there is NO GOSPEL in it whatsoever, and to have the audacity to call it "God's glorious plan"???
Hi gtrjunky! long time, buddy! hey, I'm a calvinist now! seriously, I'm not joking. anyway, best of luck! btw, what do you think of mark driscoll? I'm a big fan.
the whole video last an hour and a half!!!! he does use scripture in the video. but like denalisfire says, in this segment, he's telling stories about living the scriptures!! and like freedomsringblog says, this is just the conclusion.
because not using scripture automatically proves it's heresy right?
Do you use scripture every time you speak to someone? Maybe he's trying to be personal with his audience?
The fact annoys me that someone can't just tell a story, or can't do something different as far as rhetorical style goes, without getting flak for it, because they're labeled a pastor so they have to act like a pastor. That is to say, they have to act like the pastor that we've got in a box in our minds.

It's funny how so many are dismissive about Gods word the bible, usually so they can live how they please because they love their sin.
joeforHistruth 5 months ago
@BirthingDivinity First you have not read the bilble yourself, because if you had you would have seen that God didn't create sin, man and woman sined in the garden of eden thats how sin entered into this world, but God came and died for are sins if you would except what He did for you on the Cross that Jesus Christ died for you and rose from the dead and put your trust in Him and confess yours sins and He will save you! and then read Romans chapter 6 ,
s25598 5 months ago
@s25598 I have red the Bible on levels you wouldn't believe, to the point of going to original meanings of the words. Not only that but Jesus was not HIS NAME. Not only that but the Bible has had many books thrown out that break down more of the acutuality of Christ than the Bible you read today. Also I am sure you know very little of African/Kehemetic cosmology where many of the scriptures and myths of teh Bible originate. God is not a male principle, nor is He fire & brimstone.
BirthingDivinity 4 months ago
Most insecure people need a reason to feel they are better than others and assume that what they know is truth. Western civilization lies. The bIble is not infallible most of it comes from the Book of The Dead. Constantine created what he wanted to with the Bible to control people not because he loved God or because God loved him.
BirthingDivinity 4 months ago
@BirthingDivinity first of all the true text was in Greek for the New Testament which was written way before constantine and he was a pagon not a true Christian, The Greek texts were the origional and they where not falable, and if you do not believe the truth you will put your ownself in the lake of fire because you do not believe the truth!
s25598 4 months ago
@s25598 So the Hebrew version and chapters were fallible? ok... Whatever. I don't believe in the Lake of Fire or the watered down Bible you base your life on. The parts of teh Bible I will quote for you is this... Who can say who will asecnd and descend. Learn your infallible Bible because your knowledge and belief in it... holds you accountable to its teachings and your condemnation of me... is condemnation of yourself... lol.. That is All from your New Testament. Find it...
BirthingDivinity 4 months ago
@BirthingDivinity the Greek spells Jesus (Iesous) Christ(Christos). I did not judge you God's words will judge. I'm telling the truth, God said if you do not believe the truth, you will go to the lake of fire and it is eternal. He said so. Jesus is God in the flesh and he made away to escape, beleive Jesus paid the full price on the cross and rose on the third day, and put your trust in Him and repent of your sins and you will be saved. But you must beleive.

God is angry with sin.

god uses people to spread his word but the debate then becomes does that mean that anyone can bring reconsiliation to anyone or does that mean that only selected people by god and bring reconsiliation through god. also at the end when he says god is not angyr.. that is the biggest lie of all. god is furious at sin and will punish sin with an eternity in hell.
izadefender 9 months ago
@izadefender No, sir, YOU are angry.
Go figure!
gugamilare 9 months ago
@gugamilare i love god and what he says offends me cause its leading people astray. what you just said is implying that we can not anger god yet in the bible it happens all the time. look up John 2:15. god gets angry that the temple was being used wrongfuly and gets angry at our sin and will punish it unless we ask for forgivness, but because god is kind he is quick to forgive but you can not confuze that with not being angry at all.
izadefender 9 months ago
@izadefender The fact that the bible tells that god was angry at people means people thought god was angry, not god was angry. The feelings that you think god has about situations that you see in your real life is actually your anger projected on him, not his.
As for John 2:15, Jesus was angry, but not punishing anyone, he was trying to teach them a lesson.
An advice: don't ever use god's thoughts to justify your opinion, because you don't know what he thinks. Say it for yourself.
gugamilare 9 months ago
@gugamilare jesus and god are the same you can say jesus was angry but god wasnt their apart of the trinity they cant be described as two different people. thats first off. second off im not saying i know gods thoughts im saying thats whats in the bible so are you telling me you only believe in some parts of the bible? and lastly if your going to say gods not angry then why is there hell? why do we need gods forgivness? why did jesus come to earth? if gods not angry we dont need him for heaven
izadefender 9 months ago
@izadefender As a matter of fact, I'm an atheist, so I don't believe in the bible as "the source of truth". I'm not one to say that there is certainly no god, but, if there is a god, he does not look like anything Christians usually portray him. If god were to be angry, he would be angry at how he is portrayed as a vengeful, intolerant being and at the absurdities people say he thinks to justify their own actions.
As for Hell, it is impossible, it contradicts the concept of benevolence of god.
gugamilare 9 months ago
@izadefender One more thing: not even you believe in everything the bible says, otherwise you would endorse stoning people to death, enslavement, cutting people's hand, cursing in the name of Yahweh for him to send bears to kill little children that are offending you for being bald...
gugamilare 9 months ago
@gugamilare first disiples were getting stoned not stoning, second ocutting of the right hand if it sins thing is speaking figurtivly third jesus freed slaves fourth making fun of a disiple is a sin and it is said that god will have his vengance on sin so ifyou dont repent for it you'll be in hell for eternity. id rather be attacked by bears. if you going to try and block out the parts of the bible you dont like you will not have real faith or a real relationship with Christ
izadefender 8 months ago
@izadefender I don't block parts of the bible, you do. There are three choices:
1) to read the bible as infallible truth, and therefore stone adulterers and endorse enslavement,
2) to "interpret" parts of the bible to another meaning,
3) to read everything as it is and realize there are bad parts.
You choose (2), and that means blocking to be able to believe. I choose (3).
The Koran has a lot of violence and some Muslims choose (2) as you do. Why are you right and they are wrong?
gugamilare 8 months ago
@gugamilare the last party about koran i dont see how that has anything to do with what were discussing. and no number 2 is what rob bell does. look up his video were his neihbor is shoveling his drive way or watever. he specifcally says " peter didnt sink in the water cause he lacked faith in god, he sank because he lacked faith in himself" now on the serface that sounds great and profound but think about it hes saying he doesnt need god. and hes miss interprting gods love as gods not angry
izadefender 8 months ago
@izadefender In his whole lecture, it is clear that what he means by "gods aren't angry" is that ancient people offered sacrifices for the gods to calm them down and that Jesus' sacrifice means that those sacrifices offered to the gods weren't needed in the first place. In other words, it means "don't panic".
Rob Bell chooses
4) to study the bible historically and draw conclusions with critical thinking
which is closer to (3) than to (2). That makes him a tolerant and respectful human being.
gugamilare 8 months ago
@izadefender I just found this video: watch?v=RqwAVimMO4w
Watch this video and think twice whether you do believe in it entirely as it is written, or if you choose the good parts and pretend that the bad parts simply do not exist.
gugamilare 8 months ago
@gugamilare i dont base my faith on videos about what other people believe and how they present it. i could present the bible as saying were all supposed to kill eachother does that make it true? and about your other post saying rob is just saying we dont need to do sacrifises and stuff. ok if he's really just refering to we dont have to make sacrifises than yes i DO agree with that but i dont think thats what hes saying. i think hes saying we dont even need to apoligize cause god isnt mad
izadefender 8 months ago
@izadefender Do you think it is a good thing to believe on something and disregard every opinion contrary to it? Well, it's not. You should listen more to people that disagree with you. After all, what can you learn from people that already think like you? Who is not afraid of the truth is also not afraid of lies.
As for the bible, how you present it does not change what is written in there, yes, it doesn't matter how much you say that it doesn't contain violence, it still does.
gugamilare 8 months ago
@gugamilare you miss understood. i dont base my faith on just anyones videos. i found in my opinion rob bell to be unreliable, but lets say my pastor says somthing. that i'll believe. but my pastor also said somthing very important. he said "trust others, but double check" meaning believe and think about what others believe but check the bible to see what you believe.

The Gospel continues to work through his body (the church in the world). Do you not know that your body is a temple of the holy spirit? This work of redemption continues to go out through his body. and this is what I get from Rob Bells message. The world will know He lives by the way we love.

Kujo21 1 year ago 2

@jacobhazey Hate to break it to you, but God destroyed sodom and gamorrah cause He was angry with them.
lowbattery34 11 months ago
that we are good... Hate what is evil and love what is good... God loves us and isn't angry if we mess up. if we mess up he forgives and forgets. like the woman mentioned in this video who had seen Jesus, He could not remember the man's sin... He forgives, forgets, and loves.
jacobhazey 1 year ago
i think what he's trying to convey is that God is love. and yes it does say that. in romans it says love what is good and hate what is evil. In Genesis 1 27:31 it says God made man and everything that day (including man) and He saw that it was very good. My interpretation of the video was that God loves us for many reasons. He loves us because He made us, He loves us because He, Elohim, Yahweh made us in His image and saw that we are good. There are no bad people, because God made us and saw...
jacobhazey 1 year ago
Shame on you Rob Bell for preaching heresy. God is just as angry as he is caring. Psalm 5:5 says that God hates all evildoers, yet John 3:16 say God loves the world. Both are in the Bible, and both are true. God must hate if he also loves. Can one love Jews and not hate the holocaust? Or love kids and not hate when they are sexually abused? Likewise a God that loves MUST also hate. God is angry, and one day Rob Bell will find out just how angry God is when charged with leading thousands astray!
2Corinthians5l20x21 1 year ago
@2Corinthians5l20x21 I think you are confusing two words that mean different things. God hates evil doers...In particular the SIN. Rob Bell is talking about Anger. You took 10mins out of what an hour and half of footage to call HERESY. Instead of taking Psalm 5:5 as 1 sentence try reading the whole chapter next time. It'll enlighten you. Before calling heresy try to take the message as a whole (not just 10min). You can disagree with what you heard but its not necessarily heresy.
Kujo21 1 year ago
@Kujo21 Psalm 5:5 itself stands as a description of God who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
CowboyBob7 1 year ago
@CowboyBob7 You just proved my point. No it does not stand as a description of God. It stands one fraction of who God is.

I went to a Christian school based on the belief that baptism is required for a person to be saved. Why is it so hard for overreligious people to understand that this is not what we should fight over? We should fight to glorify God. Not to be a curse.
rejecthomophobia 1 year ago
incannottolerateit- read luke 4:16-the end, and tell me what Jesus mission was.... It was to bring the "Good News", not to tell everyone how bad they are.... It is God's grace that get's us to see our sin and want to repent.. look at the example of the woman caught in adultery, I can't imagine you handling that situation the way Jesus did, from what I've seen in your videos, I question whether you would have been throwing stones with the other religious people..
wtshirt27 1 year ago
@wtshirt27 Actually his mission was "I came so that they may know thee, the one true God". Christ came so that we may know God and have fellowship with him, those are his exact words.
People ARE evil. TO suggest otherwise is to ignore the entirety of the Bible.
Why did Peter fall at Jesus' feet, weep, and tell Jesus to depart from him because he was a sinner? Did you ignore that?
Why did Mary Magdalene cry at Jesus' feet for a long time wiping those same feet with her tears?
Icannottolerateit 1 year ago
@wtshirt27 You ignore Mary Magdalene and her tear filled repentance. You ignore Peter and his tear filled repentance. You ignore Paul's three day struggle without sleep, water of food trying to seek repentance.
Rob Bell would lead us to believe we just jovially run to the mercy seat with a smile on our face. How can we smile about the fact we are wretched sinners?
O wretched man that I am who can deliver me from this body of death?! Are those happy words spoken by Paul in Romans?
Icannottolerateit 1 year ago
icannottolerateit... I will Pray that you begin to see more of God's grace and understand it more..
wtshirt27 1 year ago
@wtshirt27 Perhaps you could elaborate a little bit using scripture and not your own thoughts.
Was God graceful to Pharaoh when he "harden Pharaoh's heart"?
Was God graceful to Esau when he chose Esau prior to even his birth as the one his hatred would rest on? "Jacob I have loved, Esau I have hated"
God is graceful to those who repent, but his wrath remains on those who do not.
Rob Bell tells us we have the power to "stop living this way", but Romans says otherwise.
Icannottolerateit 1 year ago
@Icannottolerateit as a christian, religious people like you sadden me because I think of how many people you are turning away from God by going around basically telling people how bad they are and until they change God won't forgive them... Take a look back in the new testament and look at who Jesus rebuked... It was ALWAYS the RELIGIOUS PHARISEES..... God's grace leads us to Repentance, not the other way around.. Romans 2:4- he is tolerant, patient, etc.. he was with you and still is..
wtshirt27 1 year ago 2
@wtshirt27 I am not sure that you could possibly know enough about me to lump me in with the Pharisees.
Romans says;
ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
ALL have turned aside and there IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD.
People are not just "bad" they are desperately wicked and God will not forgive until they repent.
That is why the first words Christ says when speaking to sinners is "Repent!".
Repent literally means "change of heart".
Icannottolerateit 1 year ago
Wait why are they clapping at the end? Is everyone there converted? Unlikely, 120 Christians in Jerusalem turned the entire world upside down, these crowds did not even wake up the neighbors.
Repenting is not fun....it hurts....that is the point. Not living like this means pain, pain from leaving your sin and the hurt that will cause.
Yet Jesus is willing to forgive, if you only repent.
BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO MOURN~!
CURSED ARE THOSE WHO LAUGH
Icannottolerateit 1 year ago
God is not angry? Actually God is angry with us UNTIL we repent. And repentance does not come easy. It involves letting go of the sins we are so attached to.
It is not a mere conscious decision, it is like a comet falling from the sky and
There are more LAUGHS than TEARS when most preachers speak. Repentance does not come through laughs, but is actually a painful experience.
The Church is very close to being wholly purged....the end cannot be too far..but who knows how patient God is.
Icannottolerateit 1 year ago
@Icannottolerateit God is never angry at us as individiuals thats what hes trying to say,yes no one is perfect, and yes every ones sin,But God will always love you. He isnt angry at you but of what yu do...Because you dont have to live like this.I've already breought peace but yu choose not to follow.
GabrielProductions1 1 year ago
@GabrielProductions1 Except Rob Bell is not correct and rarely uses the Bible except sparingly and sporadically. I can always tell if a man speaks and preaches more than he prays.
God is a righteous judge, And a God who has indignation every day. Psalms 7:11
It has nothing to do with what you do, but what you ARE. We ARE the child of Satan before conversion. Jesus says as much when he speaks to the Pharisees;
"You are of your father the Devil"
Sin WHOLLY dominates unconverted man.
Icannottolerateit 1 year ago
@GabrielProductions1 Actually we can have pure hearts.
Blessed are the poor in spirit. This can be done, right?
Blessed are those who mourn. This can be done too, right?
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. This as well?
Blessed are the pure in heart.....Yet this is the one that is not possible?
"Be perfect, as I am perfect"
"Anyone who does righteousness is righteous as he is righteous"
"Go and sin NO MORE"
Do you see? We can be perfected in grace.

It is interesting how much Jesus and the Old Testament prophets sound SO much alike. Calling people to community and caring for each other. How close do our churches come to this ideal.
1981Winddancer 1 year ago
These are pretty basic statements that really can't be refuted. Why must so many try to distort in one direction or the other. i am in love with Gods word. It is who God is. John said Jesus is the word in living, breathing, flesh and blood. The bible is it's best own interpreter. Yes, Rob does stretch the meaning of things and those discrepancies should be addressed but in a way that also communicates Gods love.
eturnl1 1 year ago
All arguments aside. Jesus was the reconciliation for our sin and all who would ever sin. He was the all in all sacrifice period. No more for us to add or take away from. He also said that if you did not except him as your reconciliation to God you would die in your sin. You must be born again. Jesus also said he was the only way to God and that NOBODY could come to the father but through him.
eturnl1 1 year ago
Why is everyone going on about this? I can't see anything controversial. Jesus HAS provided reconciliation for all people, but it can't be ours until we accept it. Also I can't really tell what context this was in because it seems to start in the middle of a point.

MrTheKingsknight 1 year ago
@MrTheKingsknight I always wonder why we are accused of not understanding the culture of scriptures when it is so obvious Christ never intended anyone to never judge but rather to stop judging from our own standards of righteousness. God never intended us to not discern whether one is speaking the truth or not. In fact, if you read the whole chapter-Christ teaches us how to discern truth from the falseby judging the fruits-results of false doctrine and teaches narrow is the way of Christ

This is really powerful. Very much a reminder of our responsibilities of being saved by the grace of Jesus Christ. God is Love.
Gamersvikes 1 year ago 2

I'll not be listening to Bell, there are plenty of sufficient teachers.
thelionsshare100 1 year ago

If you think he's so wrong, why don't you stop and pray for him. brothers, sisters..there's a bigger fight to be fought than against each other.
baggyeyeproductions 1 year ago 20
@baggyeyeproductions " please define what gospel is for you...The Gospel is: God's only begotten Son, Jesus, made manifest in the flesh, crucified on a cross, redeeming all who will repent of their sin, believe, obey, & follow Him. 3 days later, He conquered the power of death, hell and the grave by rising from the tomb in which he was buried. 40 days later, He ascended to the right hand of God, where He ever lives to intercede for those who surrender all to Him, and await His imminent return.
PerezUzzah 1 year ago
@baggyeyeproductions The gospel is: God is holy, man is sinful. The Father sent His Son to die on the cross as our substitute; He died in our place since our death would not pay for our sins. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. He also satisfied the righteous anger of God toward our sins since the Father poured out all His wrath on His Son on the cross. Jesus rose again and is seated at the right hand of the Father. If you believe & confess this on faith then you will be saved.
ToshiroHoshi 1 year ago
@ToshiroHoshi Some of that is part of the Gospel, most is Calvinism. Some of the things in what you say are part of the Gospel.
cynderthedragoness99 11 months ago
@baggyeyeproductions The Gospel is that Jesus suffered the full wrath of God in our place. The ONLY person to ever live perfectly and obtain God's favor by His life switched places with us and suffered God's wrath in our place (Romans 5:8-9) so by turning from our sins and trusting in the righteousness of Jesus and His death on our behalf because of our filthy sins we are counted as righteous before God. This man is a heretic, not a "brother".
RonMaday 11 months ago
@RonMaday - So...tell me: where does missions come into your idea of the Gospel?
alanoberg 11 months ago
@RonMaday-The way you present your idea of the Gospel, it ends with Christ suffering and dying so that God could count us righteous. But there's more to the Gospel than just that. The Gospel is the story of Christ's life as well as His death. Scripture tells us that Christ dwells in us, and so the Gospel also includes the stories of Christians letting Jesus live through them throughout history. Those examples in the video, those are examples of the body of Christ being Christ to a broken world.
alanoberg 11 months ago

J2DAQWST 1 year ago
@J2DAQWST I know he has read the bible. He is very good at twisting it to !!!
0snowqueen0 1 year ago
My supposition is that people just can't get over the fact that a pastor would actually be a good rhetorician and not stand in front of a large block of wood. His doctrine is generally sound, (can't just say that any one person's doctrine is completely sound) his ideas and thoughts on scripture aren't usually even his own, they are many times based on deep theological debates he simply draws together and elaborates on. However, theological debates are something most people are unfamiliar with.
J2DAQWST 1 year ago 12
You are correct, most people are unfamiliar with theological debates. Rob Bell did not diplay sound doctrine. Even so, if it was "generally sound" why listen? Is not even 1% poison still poison? The evil one clothes his words in beauty to decieve us. Not Once in this entire video was a single verse of scripture mentioned. Read 2 timothy 4:1-4, 2 timothy 2, Acts 20:28-30, 1 Corinthians 2. All the while we are to correct in "love and gentleness". Love is not the answer. Jesus is.
TheTotalVoice 11 months ago
@TheTotalVoice So are we supposed to believe that everything that comes from your mouth is 100% sound doctrine? This is why I already elaborated for you in my post you responded to "can't just say that any one person's doctrine is completely sound." Discernment is taking the meat from the bones. Not everything everyone says is perfect, but we are to test everything. I was simply stating that "generally speaking", RB is a good preacher, no preacher is perfect.
In "love and gentleness" ;D
John.
J2DAQWST 11 months ago
@J2DAQWST
TheTotalVoice 10 months ago
@TheTotalVoice love is not the answer, but jesus is? that makes no sense. his command was "LOVE your god". and you are trying to argue that love plays no part in that? second command. "LOVE your neighbor". and love is still not the answer? how about corinthians 13 "faith hope and love, the greatest of these is love." the word of god pronounces love's value over faith.. and your trying to say jesus and love are not the same thing?
Vinny192 10 months ago
@Vinny192 Excellent point. Love is a critical aspect of following Jesus Christ. Showing others Love is how we as believers demonstrate to the world and to our father, who our surety, our savior, and who we answer to is. That of course is Jesus Christ. I do agree with most everything that can be said about Jesus being an example of love. Is he "Love"? I find no scripture stating this. John 18:37, 14:6 both speak to himself being truth.
