Even though this episode (like most of the Christmas specials) had all the depth and charm of a bucket of vomit, I liked Donna's character in it much better than the whining idiot she became in Series 4. Still, she was better than the super bitchy & annoying Rose from Series 2, or that block of wood they got to replace her for Series 3. Shame really because it was nice for the Doctor to have a non-white companion on TV for once, and Freema Agyeman is a very beautiful woman; she just can't act.

I loved Catherine! She was the best companion... She was a perfect springboard for Tennant to bounce off of. I just don't understand why so many people disliked her. It's too bad she's been put on a shelf, she put some life into the show! I guess they wanted to clean the slate for the next doctor.... Hopefully the new companions will come up to the high levels of Donna and Rose ...
