hello i use to study tracy's kenpo for a number of years myself, may i ask why the addition to the techniques, for example in your kenpo shield clip what are the possible reactions he will give from being punched that leads to a hip toss
@clark13lfc I'm thinking he didn't apply any real pressure and it was not a real tap. It was a demo, not a match. Also the technique was not chinese cobra. Its amazing how fast waza permutate generationally.
There is an upcoming series done by a guy named ATACXGYM on Youtube that I got word he and his gym were putting up soon.I think that you'll be better impressed with his techniques.this si no knock on Tracy Kenpo, just a genuine sharing of martial knowledge and a good-natured heads up for these ATACX GYM guys
The counterattack was well done, but my problem is that too many kenpo self defense techniques are taught unrealistically with same side punch and step through as the main model. That's asinine. use the most common ways of executing attacks by skilled AND unskilled fighters as the baseline for self defense techniques,THEN build REALISTIC COUNTERS to them. Our beloved kenpo will be much more effective for more people as a result.
It's BS. These people are not conditioned and look terribly out of shape. The techniques are too rehearsed and are JUST DONE WRONG. I can think of at least 10 way of getting out of that sloppy ankle lock and punches are just sloppy with no intention.
on the 2nd one after you are on the ground in the heel lock position roll to your side so that you are kinda laying on his free leg so he can't kick you in the face and it also enables you to arch youe back alot farther for a much more effective heel lock
nice except on the first one after the guy is on the ground step one leg over him so that he is in a half boston crab and he can't kick you in the face
If you think that by blocking across your body like that, you are going to get that same hand back in position to block a cross, you are living in a fantasy world. I know kenpo guys never let reality get in the way of a "good" technique, but some people, who don't know any better, are going to see this and actually think it teaches them sound, self defense fundamentals.
If done with intent, youll block it. That initial inwards block as you step in with your right has the forearm bone of the right arm slicing the radial/muscle at the 10:30 line. You also have hip rotational speed adding power to the block. When you transition between that 2nd block is a nice centerline strike with the left hand (eagle beak, sun fist if you like) in addition you have a possible eye rake when going for that second block.
What speeds the techniques block a second time is the raw rotational power when you face 12:00 with your hips and shoulders; the block is using core strength to create a fast center-line extended block. Those center transitions are key for getting the second block in place. I find crossing the mountain works just as nicely for an attacker using a double strike combo, long as the blocks are tight, cross the center and with intent.
love it

I don't believe that these were ever taught my Grand Master Mitose. Therefore, I conclude that this WAZA is made up by one of the Tracy Brothers.

@WaiteDavidMSPhysics This technique was originally called
Hood of the Cobra
and is being given extentions with the locks that weren't originally a part of it.
I think the name change and extentions may be due to copywrite issues between the break up of kenpo systems like tracopar

True. Realize that there are Kenpo schools and associations doing just that.

I wasn't sure if I came across properly when I first posted - but I was defending Chinese Cobra working - because it does, all the techniques do.
That's one of my favorite legs locks (your first one) - putting the firearm into the calf while walking into them - that kills :)
Nice job =)

use your right leg to hook behind uke's left leg for the takedown.. In part two dont leave your left leg out for the taking...
