  • Ellen always brings sexy ladies, I bet she wanted to eat her pussy!

  • Wow. Am Dutch (Afrikaans is derived from old Dutch) but I always pronounce her name as "The-ron" like everyone else. Never knew the "e" was silent. Sorry, Charlize. My bad :)

  • thumbs up if ur here cuz of snow white

  • thats seriously not how u pronounce "theron"... learn some afrikaans, Ellen

  • @shirusubemonaku Give poor Ellen a break...lol. They have a lot of difficulty saying the R..my brother in law is an American and he just can not "roll" his r. ;-))

  • Hey! Charlize Theron and Candice Swanapoel are both from Southern-Africa! Beautiful ladies! SUPER HOT! I'll have to travel to South Africa to find me a woman like that. (; Candice's accent remains but Charlize's should come out more often.

  • Sy is wragtig pragtig!!!!!

  • howcome she has an american accent if shes from south africa

  • @MrJayseg she was probably brought up there as i am south african and i live in wales and i have the welsh accent :)

  • @bornandbreadinSA No she was brought up in South Africa she only went to America when she was 18..she started as a dancer, then modeling and now acting.

  • @Wyanette1 yes but she obviously picked up the american accent non the less

  • @bornandbreadinSA Yes offcaurse she did ;-)

  • @MrJayseg She learned to speak with an american accent for her movies.

  • Haha, at the end Ellen was like did, "Did I say that right?"

  • Say, "Charlie's thong" with an accent, and you pretty much got the pronounciation of her name down packed. Also "Char leaves throne" could work too, if anyone remembers Prince Char.

  • the most beautiful woman on earth

  • Does anyone know what the first song?

  • a woman that i would turn gay for..obviously charlize <3

  • Wonder if she can still speak english in her SA accent!! Very proud of you skat!! :)

  • She mastered the American accent perfectly and all in her adult life too

  • @waheedsearia U need fucking help you've got issues lol

    CHARLIZ TRON.

  • @xatanos *lol* si, tienes razon! nunca he contemplado eso.

  • seis bliksems mooi

  • who cares what her accent is? she's a great actress so just shut up and watch the video.

  • I had no idea she was from south africa

  • id meet her at a truckstop

  • everything that happened in SA is over now so just forget about the past already

  • @waheedseria Not questioning your experiences during the South African apartheid it is quite ironic that you should take up this petty crusade against Theron. your preoccupation with spouting offensive remarks about someone whom you've never met and those groundless critiques of character you make are distinctive of the kind of simplistic, insolent thinking that perpetuates not just racism alone.

  • @r053 where u from?? coz im pretty sure every country was fukd up at one stage... dont just single out SA. plus it is one of very few countries that moved from a government ruled segregated society type regime to democracy without a war breaking out.which considering what the darker people went through including my parents is a miracle really

  • well i admire her very much, i am from south africa, i am so proud that she has helped put SA on the map, our country is NOTHING like it used to be, i was 6 yrs old when apartheid ended and since then i have seen nothing but love for all races of people living here. we have 11 official languages and embraces them all!

  • Reading the comments below and I have this to say. She doesn't have an South African accent and I understand that it is because of movies and such. But when she speaks Afrikaans, she has an American Accent and that's irritating.

  • @fabulousilver why is it irritating? grow up. she's lived in the us half her life. my first language was Russian, but now after living in the us for most of my life my Russian def has an accent. thats just life and its normal.

  • LMFAO!!!!!!!!! Ellen sounds like a Russian when she sais Theron!!! lol!!

  • SHE PISSES ME OFF if shes south African wheres her god damn accent what a fake person, that's what happens when people move to Hollywood they sell themselves to the devil.............

  • @pepsiimaxx02: She's been living in America the past 15 years. Just stfu.

  • @xCuppyCakeSqueakersx whats your point?! my neighbour has been here for 25 years and she still has her accent?! shes only putin on her American accent to conform to what other ppl want because shes FAKE

  • @pepsiimaxx02: Your neighbor is either faking her accent, or she still speaks a different language at home.

  • @xCuppyCakeSqueakersx you never lose your accent all you can do is be a good FAKER like Charlize who has hired good coachs to help her since shes rick n all she can do that!

  • @pepsiimaxx02 you are psycho. seriously. yes you can lose your accent, its natural and it happens all the time.If you move young, and live in another country where fucking nobody speaks like you, then your accent will diminish. Frankly, Charlize never hired a tutor to help her lose her accent. Ever since she moved to the US, she got her first movie at 19 and moved to US at 18. She already had a clean AMerican accent. Charlize is just smart and knew she had to adapt.

  • She needed to adapt to an American accent for her roles abroad. Americans also don't understand other "English" accents too well, so you have to be flexible and willing to change the way you say certain words to be understood. She's classy and a raging success internationally, but hasn't lost her "roots"... Accent or no accent, we say, good for her :)

  • i dont get it.

  • Man she REALLY shed that SA accent eh?

  • Wow Ellen's set has changed so much!!

  • Is that actually same human being as the girl in Monster?

  • She gave an amazing performance in North Country.

  • Its funny how annoyed people are getting over the fact she has lost her SA accent

So gaan kyk liewer bietjie Invictus en gaan leef in jou droomplekkie.

  • ellen is wetting her pants with excitement.

  • agreed to @waheedseria

  • south african is just like dutch ;)

  • @AichaTytgat it's not really the same, (maybe you speak dutch, i don't know, but i do... so) I never have spoken too someone from south africa, but at school they said me that we can understand eachother, but yeah, i think they have some weird words in south africa...

  • @AichaTytgat wow fail... x'D kben ni eens goe in engels :D

  • @ddskpprncs HAHH xoxp

  • @AichaTytgat South Africa has ELEVEN official languages... therefore, "South African" is not a language. Please come over and speak "South African" to a Xhosa person and then you can go speak some to a Sotho and THEN you can go speak some to a Zulu or Afrikaans person. AFRIKAANS is like dutch but its not exactly the same.

  • @waheedseria GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELF. YOU know nothing about her, she has been living here since she was 17, and had to lose her accent initially to get work. plus, she didnt know english when she came to the US, she learned english completely in America, thus learning it with an american dialect. you are an idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @Bananabear20 Are you shitting me? Im from SA and Afrikaans. Do you think we live under rocks or something?! Of course she spoke English before she went to America. All Afrikaans people can speak both. So frankly you are the idiot. Americans are so flippen arrogant! Do you even know where SA is? geeeeez! And you are mistaken. You never "lose" your accent, you just choose not to use it to fit into commercial America. So Im proudly South African and Afrikaans. Google it!

  • @Ewekansig Americans are not arrogant. Get a fucking grip. Stupid anti-Americanism is getting tired; i don't judge you for being South African even though its pretty easy to do that. I am just repeating what Charlize said, i trust her over you , your experience is not everyone's in South Africa. Yeah you can "lose" your accent, i am from a different country, but i lived in US for 10 years and don't have my accent anymore. Charlize still speaks Afrrkaans, which is great.

  • @Ewekansig Its hard to speak and continue in a language when you don't speak it regularly; I know people from Denmark, Sweden, German who don't have an accent at all. Its really common to not have accents anymore. Charlize grew up in the late 80's; she spoke mostly Afrikaans and a little english; when she got to the states she was young and had to speak "American" english mostly for work. Maybe you should get out more, because you do sound like you live under rocks.

  • @Bananabear20 Jou moroniese eentalige poephol. Haar Afrikaans is crap. Verdwyn. (Google dit tiefter)

  • @Ewekansig no thanks. i won't google it because i dont really give a shit. you want to hate on someone who gives a lot of her time, energy, and money to various causes in SA because of something so trivial as an accent, that you are really wasting your breath.

  • @Ewekansig and good job responding 5 days later with a comeback. i speak 3 languages , and understand how foolish it is to hate someone for an accent. stupid arrogant south africans. typical. no wonder your country has such a reputation.

  • @Bananabear20 Oh Im sorry for responding so late. I actually have a life and study and cant be on youtube all the time. And well done for speaking 3 languages!! Look at you going up in the world. I speak 6. One of the props of living in a country with 11 official ones. And I dont hate her. Just saying you shouldnt forget where you come from or your background. Im not even talking about SA, but about AFRIKAANS people ect. I wont waste my breath on you anymore dont worry. I have stuff to do.

  • @Bananabear20 SHE"S A FUCKING FAKE!! If you're South African and Afrikaans then you should be ashamed and embarrassed by her! Who cares how long she's been in the US or that she had to learn English, SHE'S FROM BENONI, moron! Every other foreign actress from Penelope Cruz to Cate Blanchett speaks in their native accent when not in character, that's what makes them actresses. She is constantly faking an American accent and for that reason I think she's pathetic and you're just another dom boer!

  • @waheedseria you are psycho. seriously. yes you can lose your accent, its natural and it happens all the time.If you move young, and live in another country where fucking nobody speaks like you, then your accent will diminish. Frankly, Charlize never hired a tutor to help her lose her accent. Ever since she moved to the US, she got her first movie at 19 and moved to US at 18. She already had a clean AMerican accent. Charlize is just smart and knew she had to adapt.

  • @waheedseria You should just be fucking happy she still gives a shit about South Africa to help and donate her time, name, and resources. Her South African foundation set up mobile clinics to helpl children in rural HIV infected areas and its been really successful.

Penelope Cruz limits herself to roles because of her accent, its ridiculous. She sounds retarded and gets the same spanish girl role. And Cate Blanchett's accent is very slight now if you have listened to recent interviews.

  • @waheedseria Cate STILL lives in Australia full time, Charlize moved to America when she was 19. Off course Cate still has more of an accent you fucking moron.

  • @Bananabear20 It's the first time I reply to someone on YouTube and I just want to say you are an angry little man. Don't know your height, but it just seems like you have shortman-syndrome. Now stop swearing at everyone and let people have their opinion.

  • @Bananabear20 Oh my word. Ok, why don't you watch the Inside the Actors Studio clip where she speaks Afrikaans (the American host Jim Lipton even went through the trouble of pronouncing the name of the language correctly, yet she pronounces the name of HER OWN FUCKING LANGUAGE in an American accent). When she speaks it you hear her real boere accent. You know, the one she's constantly masking. She's an embarrassment to my great nation and you are retarded. South African my ass. Be real, bitch.

  • @waheedseria who cares?! grow up and stop being such a crazed nationalistic ass. its just an accent. She is an embarrasment?! she brought more attention and good will spotlight to your country that you will ever hope or be able to .Because of her mention at the oscars, people actually began to realize that your once fucked up country has moved on from being so racist.

  • @Bananabear20 Actually it was people like myself & the millions of other non-whites who were fighting for our rights as human beings getting shot, beaten & teargassed by the police who brought the "attention and goodwill" to my country while she was off carving out a career for herself on the other side of the world. Yes, I'm nationalistic but that's because I gave my blood, sweat and tears for the liberation of my people from my "once fucked up country". So fuck her & fuck you, your highness.

  • @waheedseria lol what aload of k@k, youself? so you were fighting apartheid at five years old? fuck all black, coloured and especially muslim fuckers who talk shit.

  • @waheedseria she also donates a lot of charitable money, her time, and energy. She goes back 3/4 times a year despite not having any familial ties left. She cares. stop fussing about an accent!

  • charlize TRONNNNN!!!!!!

  • @benbezuidenhout she forced herself to lose her accent, she didn't lose it naturally. I have met people who have been overseas for more than 20 years and they still have a South African accent.

  • Charlize is zo'n schatje! :D

  • was that her only appearence on ellen ?

  • man i wish she was gay too.... damn it

  • me 2

    but her name sound french

  • ellen looks like david spade. anyone agrees

  • the south african accent is gone because she moved to LA when she was 16. accents dont matter, her native language isnt even English, shes Afrikaans :)

  • @benbezuidenhout wow! omg! i cannot believe it. she must be really really clever then. She speaks like a native speaker. And her American accent is fake. you have to be under 12 year old in order to get the accent naturally. I study English Linguistics.

  • Ellen wants to munch it.

  • Her perfomance in "Monster"... One of the best ever!

    She really deserved that oscar.

  • shes perfect,,,very beautiful ,,,stuart is very lucky guy,pls take care of her, godbless

  • @chiemary she split up with stuart like a long time ago, she is with keanu reeves now.

  • @closer84e nope shes not with keanu reeves i heard she with a farm guy.

  • love charlize! love ellen!

  • She is African . big up africa

  • char char!!

  • WOW Ellen said her last name right! Good for you Ellen!

  • Have any of the haters actually seen Monster? SHE is an amazing courageous actress ... and that is all that matters.

  • does it matter how she speaks? goddamn people its her life.

  • her afrikaans has faded a lot.. she seems 2 have lost it but that will happen if you have been from home a long time and don't really speak the language in your everyday life n e more. still love her though:)

  • where is he sooth aufrican accent?!

  • no tiene.

  • Haha! Elen got the surname right the first round, but she lost it after that =] Great though, I really like Charlize Theron!

  • @joededoper

Yes you dumbass. She has lived in America for 12 years now, and her Afrikaans is really good for that one sentence you heard. seriously? she speaks it with her mother everyday, and she generally spoke afrikaans only in south africa. she only starting speaking english really in the united states because of acting and survival purposes.

  • Jesus, is the USA some kind of wilderness? Hence the use "survival purposes"?

Living in another country for 12 years is no excuse; and her Afrikaans is NOT really good. Saying "Lyk hierdie rok goed op my?" is really shitty Afrikaans (that would be Charlize's sentence you're referring to). How is it then that her English, which she only acquired recently, is so good then, while her mother language, Afrikaans, sucks donkey balls? Fucking pillock. Her Afrikaans is really poor. Full stop.

  • Let me explain something to you. she came to the us by herself in 1994, there was huge stigma attached to white south africans at the time and it was difficult to get work. Benoni is an Affrikaans town correct? her english she learned from her ballet teacher, but she basically was in the us and needed to know english without an accent to work, because blonde american chick was what she got. she decided to just speak the american dialect its easier.

  • That is all quite irrelevant to the fact that her Afrikaans is not very good. Learning to speak English with an American accent (not dialect - obviously you don't know the difference), does not immediately result in poor Afrikaans. Making such a statement is just daft. It's great that she adopted an American accent, otherwise she would have been without a job, but it doesn't serve as an excuse for her poor use of Afrikaans.

  • and have you immigrated? you speak better when you go back to the country, your mother language gets rough naturally if u dont speak it everyday.

i have heard that her afrikaans when she goes back is pretty good for someone who only speaks it with her mother now.

and a pretty blonde foreigner on her own would get taken advantage of. to have no accent is best,

  • I have immigrated, yes. I only speak my mother language with my mother (which also happens to be Afrikaans), and I still speak it very well. So well that I can easily hear how poorly Charlize speaks it. You have heard her Afrikaans is pretty good. Well, you have heard a bunch of crap. I am a mother tongue speaker of Afrikaans, and she doesn't speak Afrikaans well. Being blonde and having an accent doesn't suddenly make you an idiot. All in all you're missing the point. Her Afrikaans sucks.

  • @joededoper

seriously? you can tell from one sentence her whole grasp of Afrikaans. Id like to see somebody judge you on how well you speak it really if you only speak it with one person. I can also judge when somebody doesnt speak Russian well( judging is easy) but i am sure i make mistakes when i speak it and i know it. and i have numerous people to speak it with.

you just grow rusty when you are not in that environment. i bet when she goes bad to sa it gets better.

  • No, search for "Charlize Belgian" and you will find another clip of her speaking Afrikaans.

The point is that I made a simple observation of her use of Afrikaans (which, I reiterate, is poor). That's it. Perhaps it does get better when she's in SA. I didn't comment on that. I merely commented on the extant examples on YouTube of her using Afrikaans, and she doesn't do it very well.

  • sy lyk fantasties! 'n ware superster...

  • a2m mit charlize!

  • Gosh she pronounces her name in Afrikaan exactly the way we pronounce it in Russia. She is AMAZING!!!

  • @ksjusha28S the same in italian!

  • mayne, she should of jumped on the couch !

  • She's great because she has beauty, intelligence, and talent. And she has this great classic beauty and looks like a princess but she's so down to earth.

  • @Tigerlily21 By classic, I'm guessing you mean blond-haired, blue-eyed and northern European facial features?

  • @OctoroonToYou Actually, her eyes are green, they just look blue, and her natural hair color is a reddish-brown...

  • @OctoroonToYou not necessarily, since Elizabeth Taylor and Ava Gardner and Sophia Loren are considered classic beauties. I'm talking classic beauty in the sense of old hollywood. She looks like she could have graced the screen and fit right in with the Lana Turners, Kim Novaks, and Jean Harlowes which is different from the generic Jessica Simpson/Paris Hilton image we get today in stars.

  • @Tigerlily21 AND she has a great sense of humor :)

  • I'm surprised she speaks Afrikaans perfectly! I live in South Africa. It's an awesome country and FYI I AM NOT RACIST, just because I am South African doesn't mean i'm racist.

  • Well she is from South Africa and she speaks it every day with her mother :)

  • At 2:33 you can clearly hear her accent, lol. I love it!

  • how is she phony in this interview? at all?

  • Really? How? She seems so real and down to earth here to me.

  • Plus she has this great sarcastic, dry humor that you are mistaking for phony.

  • was meant to put would love to look like her!..also her acting is amazing especially in monster love it!

  • I think she is one of the most beautiful woman in the world. She is also an amazing actress and her personality really shines through and i love the fact she seems so cool and a lovely person. Would love to like her she is perfect!!

  • wow she is for me the most beautiful blonde ver

  • This woman's beauty makes no logical sense. Good LORD SHE PERFECTION...

  • and there's plenty more here

  • Charlize Theron is AMAZING!!!

Her role in Monster was AWESOME!!!

Who wouldn't love this beautiful woman?!

  • she is lovely, i have nothing but respect for her.

  • Charlize is the coolest! Love this girl. She's IMO the most beautiful in hollywood but look at how fun and down to earth her personatliy is. Some of these glamourous movie stars seem fake or superficial on talk shows but she seems like a cool chick you can have a drink with. And she's a brilliant actress. She's the total package!

  • theron "tron" is 'n spietkop se van

  • haha that is totally true. i don't know if i'd put it that way but speaking both english and german i find it to be a complete mish mash. it's odd, but nonetheless intriguing.

  • dude. that's so true!!

  • if german and english had sex dutch would come out

  • south african beauty:-)

  • any idea where this truck stop is?

  • shes gorgeous.....luv it we she pronouns her last name.

  • Charlize theron is my epitomy of female beauty.

  • Youre talking weird dutch......

  • omg, isnt english her native language??????her accent is amazing..

  • nope, afrikaans is her native tongue...but she, i'm sure, was exposed to it living in south africa and such!

  • She learned english by watching TV =b. Thats so cute, I think.

  • I swear on every Charlize Interview she talks about something with getting drunk! xD shes just so down to earth..

  • I think it sound more like german... see i'm german and friends of us are netherlands and i can understand parts of what they're saying! If they talk slowly... ;-)

  • Umm, I am South African so I know how annoying it is to be considered 'African', South Africa may be in africa, but we like to be thought of as our own country, and not just another african country. What I mean't was Canada and America may be on the same continent, but they are run by different goverments, and are totally different countries, much like South Africa and Other African Countries.Sorry If I may have offended anyone.

  • I love South Africa.... I was in Johannesburg and it was amazing! :)

  • What are you talking about? Obviously you are your own country. If someone knows you are from Africa but they don't know where specifically they can say African. Same thing with Europeans, being called a European is fine if someone doesn't know where I am from. All this arguing over semantics is useless

  • She is an African American. African american doesn't mean that your black, you can be white and be considered an African american. Just like Blacks from europe are considered europeans. Ya'll stupid!

  • She's South African you retard ... as in from southern Africa not America. By the way South Africa is not in the USA just incase (most likely) you thought. How worthless an stupid you are.

  • Well yes she is South African, but she became an American citizen this year, so technically that does make her an American now

  • well most african american citizens in the usa have never been african citizens,so with your logic they can not be called african.shes not technically just an american now.she is a citizen of south africa and america.but still a born south african citizen.she still makes us proud

  • yea, and not African either, South Africa is its own country, thats like saying an american is a canadian, not very nice is it?

  • yea, pls NOt African either, South africa is its own country.thats like saying an american is a canadian, not very nice is it?

  • Haha...African American! Thats so funny!
