  • true. just dont like why people compare every thing that is slightly psych to floyd or the doors, i dont mind floyd at all, dont think they were good enough to be some sort of benchmark tho

  • Just stumbled upon another Krautrock band from this era: Sand Album: Golem

Check out the song: Old Loggerhead

Also a big fan of the mighty Fall and Can.

  • @jackdejong That is the greatest 'krautrock' lp ever,it's rare as hell and almost totally unknown but an utter masterpiece-especially 'Sarah'.

  • The guitar could have come straight from piper at the gates of dawn.

  • @nath909 why mention floyd? can and fall was no where pop. floyd was, millions of beter psych bands before the old mainstream floyd

  • @malkiebroon

    why not?

  • @nath909 yeah but why?

  • @malkiebroon

Don't be such a fucking snob. Floyd were supreme at what they did.

Though I'd agree that this owes next to nothing to Floyd. The Fall are not far off the anti-Floyd. But there is room for both in the universe.

  • leave your genres at the door

  • It sounds more like total annoyance than like a tribute to me. But perhaps the intellectuals know better.

  • This is a tribute to the song "oh yea" by Can by the sounds of it, and of course to Damo Suzuki. But this comment states the obvious.

I think alot of what people call Post-Punk is more like Post-Kraut, but New Wave is too much of a vague description that encoporates too many types of music. Post-Punk isn't ideal either but I think it works a little bit better. Or maybe I should skrap the pretentious bullshit and just say that this is a very good song.

  • @NeoDjang I think the genre New Wave works just fine.

Oh, and yes, this is a very good song.

  • please don't ever place 'new wave' next to krautrock or suggest they are connected. krautrock is timeless, a lot of new wave is utter shit.

  • Damo whatisname had an awful beard

  • the monster dums are awesome!

  • garni wahr

  • MeiAIDS

  • I AM DAMO SUZUKI

  • this song goes hard n.n

  • Wow, this song actually sounds like something Can would have done. Which means it sounds awesome.

  • as many here, that song and Paint Work got me into Fall. Toronto, 93. Thank you, Joe!

  • Just saw Damo in vancouver.

Always have this song at the back of my mind..

  • no, I am Damo Suzuki and so's my wife.

  • CAN invented the 'new wave' ten years before the new wave and this song is a tribute to them by a great band which knows the Story. I love Can, The Fall and new wave.

  • How did Can invent new wave? Just wondering.

  • they didn't "invent" it but a lot of new wave/post punk bands were influenced by them. john lydon tried to become their singer at one point without realizing they were breaking up. the original line-up of public image ltd was directly modeled after can's. and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

  • @georgecolon

The song elves is a reworking of I Wanna Be Your Dog, inbred and deranged tributes is what the Fall goes for.

  • you know, now that you mention it i can totally respect this. theres a lot of bands that do crazy inbred versions of sick songs. i am sorry.

  • kraut rock is basically new wave with german wailing. =D

  • i think that german wailing is called progressive rock.

  • @potillo1960

Ehh. Saying Can invented new wave is a bit like saying victorian era composers invented radio pop, it's a bit insulting

  • Oh Yeh covered by MES

  • The Fall's greatest song, perhaps.

  • Great song. Intense.

  • i woke up thinking about this song...thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love it

  • ahhh mate glad you put this on youtube such a good song this is the first song that got me into the fall
