  • Jeez all u 7 lovers stop bitchin lol. This z ran low 14s just so u all get an idea of how he drives. He had an intake, intake manifold, and full exhaust with a cheap chip. I was stock and ran 13.6 in stock trim. This is from a 40-50ish roll I think. It was two years ago. 05 mustangs are far superior to 350zs. I dropped a whole second from stock with and intake exhaust gears and tune I'm at 12.5@110 auto. No z can do that with the same mods

  • @ZeerXX The DE can still be a threat though huh... I have an 03 with just a popcharger, jwt clutch/flywheel,5/8 spacer,stillen exhaust. I beat my boy in his 2006 mustang with an intake and flowmasters. Not from a dig though but from a 20 mph roll. Plus I got 2 10 subs and 20s . I want to get rid of my system and rims. That would make a big difference..

  • it's not modded, it's mine and ran 13.6 in stock form, and the 350z ran 14.3 in it's form. Im modded now , but not then, not even an axleback exhaust yet. This is only a month or two after i got it, i've only had the car for a little over 2 years

  • yo my bad i removed your other comment i ment to hit reply saying...Yeah a G coupe, as long as is the 330hp model should be dead on with a 05+ gt but honestly i must admit most Mustang drivers suck lol, If you ran him with the 306hp G coupe he should have had you by a lil not much, but it's all in the driver, if this guy could drive that i raced he would be right on me.

  • haha yea it almost looked like a close race man they g35 coupe is a heavy ass car man haha i got my skyline 350GT Jspec model of the G35 is lighter han that of the G35 n responses better with more power n torque so i should run up better without all those heavy unessesary safety feautre n luxury features like the headed seats with the motor to recline n etc.. makes a ride heavy dude lol

  • yea man i hear you, subs, navi, electric seats are big weight features, even exhaust i lost over60 pounds changing, my mufflers alone were 35lbs each

  • ouch that i have a navi but not to worry about that its a small TV that come standard its the stereo thats heavy as well ama convert mines into a just Ipon touch thing so i can remove the hole damn stereo n just [ut an Iod that shold a b a weight saver for ones. the seats front n back will have to go as well n replaced by racing carbon fiber seats.

  • You can't, unless the driver sucks or it's an older one. You're going to have a hard time keeping up with a well-driven 07 or 08 350Z. Those HR motors are strong on the highway.

  • both are great cars previous car was a 05 gt ran consistent 13.6 with auto tranny bone stock without being broken in

    my wife owns a 07 350z traded my 05 stang for it and couldnt be happier but one thing is for sure the papers give the nissan the same hp but on a dyno my 05 stang put down almost 30 more hp and 65 more tq than the 350z with a manual tranny 241 rwhp 233 rwtq for the z the best I have got out of the z is a 13.8 .

  • @ZeerXX WTF? you know nothing about Z's if you think a 07-08 Z is a full second faster than the earlier Zs, I ran low 14s to high 13s in my 03 Z STOCK, my friends 07 HR Z runs mid to high 13's stock.. Do some research b4 you put down the earlier Z's which come with more torque than any of the newer Z's..

  • @iiMGorgeousBabii oh jesus. I've owned my Z probably longer than you my friend. And the best i hit was 13.9 with stock setup. Most Z drivers.. 99.9% of them don't break into 13s. HR Zs with a decent driver can hit mid 13s. And the best can hit 13.1. Keep in mind the HRs have 30 rwhp more than our DEs. And the HRs have more torque to the wheels. SAE standards changed in power ratings when the HR came out.

  • I recently owned a 2007 350Z HR, sold it for a 2006 roush mustang gt currently trading in for a 370z, and I can tell you that in a race from 70mph or so, the 07Z accelerates faster than the mustang due to much better gearing, and aerodynamics. It's almost too close to tell from low speeds, but I can say that the OLDER z's (2003-2005) aren't quite refined enough to make the power of the 2006 rev up, or the 2007 HR that have the potential of beating an S197.

  • i agree 100%. The 06 roush actually run slower than stock GTs. If the same driver drove each, the times are better on the stock gt, because they are about 100 pounds lighter. This is because the wheels are heavier, as are the fascia, and sideskirts added. But what you say still goes with a reg GT also, your right.

  • wow u should feel faster than the 07, no? I have 4.10s with a 93 octane tune, in an auto now, and last track season i ran a 13.3 at 104 not even full throttle at the start due to terrible wheel hop i have been gettin. Now that I have suspension upgrades i have no more wheel hop so I should easily hit 13.0.

  • The z was still faster up top around the mph i said. the mustang is hard to be made into a top speed car due to the limitations of the tranny. redlines (at 6,000) (for my car) are 40, 70,100,130. (1-4). gears like 3.55's or 4.10s can make the gears more torquey, but the equivalent ratio between the gears remains and the top speed in 4th gear lowers. if i remember correctly, the z was 40,70,98,120,140 (1-5) ratios get closer and hence more torque

  • true, mine redlines at 6800 at the moment due to a custom tune. It made a huge difference as opposed to the stock 5800. Yeah my third gear ends at 90 now it useta be 104-105ish with the stock 3.31 gears. my fourth is about the same as yours. But i know what your sayin, even in the race shown when i was stock, the modded 03 seemed to creep up at 80mph, but then lose it again at 100mph.

  • you run the car up to 6800rpm before shifting? It was always in my understanding that that's a dangerous move working with the stock heads/rods. it's not really a tune issue, its the quality/design of parts that are tested under such high speeds. in fact, i believe i read that for every 100rpm you increase over 6,000 you're putting 50% more stress on the internals. O_O

  • yea it seems to shift around 6500 tho, but the redline is now at 6800 alond with the rev limiter as well. With the custom tune, the steeda mustang tune puts it at the same amount as well. Mine is a bamachips tune. What you said is good to know tho, maybe ill bring it down a bit, I want the car to last. Ill look more into it. Thanks

  • Anyway, like i said yeah, i think the mustang would get a length on the z, and by around 80 the z will begin to crawl back up. if you go on the HR forums, you'll find that low quarter mile times (13.2-13.5) aren't a real rarity with these cars

  • i just got done racing a 05 gt with my 05 z and won! i didnt win by much, about half a car lenth on fifth gear. all i have is a exhaust.

  • like a few said previously it is most likely a drivers race, in this case this driver ran a 14.4 stock and is now modded, he is obvously not gonna drop 6 tenths with his mods, therefor he would not beat me. But an equal driver in both cars, anmd the mustang will win. Good kill tho

  • i believe it, it depends on the driver the new stangs run anywhere from 13.5-14.4 it depends on the driver. average is 13.8-14.0 in the 1/4. Nice job tho

  • Yeah, I call bullshit on this. I'm a mustang guy. There's no way a bone stock, auto GT is going to pull that hard on a Z with full exhaust/intake. The 3v, especially in auto form, is not that strong. Z is a terrible driver or the mustang is lying about mods.

  • Its called top end. The 3V 4.6's have very good top end power, not quite as good as the 4V's but still good. The 350Z falls on its face on the top end, the little 3.5 V6 doesn't have any low end or top end. Mustang is the faster car, get over it, 350Z is slow.

  • Mustang is not stock. I've driven auto s-197's. They are sluggish, and not very much faster than a 5-speed PI GT, if at all. The little 4v 350z has a broad power curve that doesnt fall flat on its face. Auto, stock 3v mustangs trap 100-101. A stock 2003-2005 287HP Z will trap between 98-ish. They should be much closer. Auto stangs are not quick. I should know....I have one.

  • I call bs on you. Yea they are definately sluggish until tuned. however i ran a 13.6 at 101 mph bone stock as I am in this video. how can you say that is not quick? Most stick shift mustangs run high 13s and low 14s if u ever go to the track. Good drivers can hit 13.5 and even 13.4 powershifting, but I have yet to see that, my friend in the Z ran a 14.4 stock, and has yet to hit the track with mods, but his mods are more for top end power, with the torque i got he had no time to catch up

  • I have yet to see an 07 Z run under 13.7 and bone stock i ran 13.6 in an auto. as for the mach one 13.3-13.4 isnt uncommon. Will it take an 05 and up, possibly, but an 03 mach 1 aint happenin stock vs stock. Im noot arguing im just stating the facts. IMO people underestimate the new GTs horribly. the stang is only 200 pounds heavier or so. I put this video up cuz every1 thinks the Zs can take the stangs. look back year for year. the stang always had an edge even back wit the 240 and 300 Zs

  • Most f-bodies weigh 3200-3500, even if they weighed 3600 they still have over 300 ft lbs of torque. They're some of the best in their class in the SCAA.

  • what does 300ft lbs of torque have to do on a road course when the Z wouldnt be far behind in torque. A Z would get killed on a drag strip by a nice F-body but i dont quite understand your reasoning behind a Z loosing on a track. They are newer, more expansive (with exception of SLP), more able cars on curves.
