@HighpsiaddicT actually octane rateing means a shit load dude the higher the octane the more compression it takes to ignite it properly. thats why race cars all use high octane fuel or ethenol and methenol. honda engines are high compression and they recomend to run high octane fuel to stop detonation because the higher octane fuel is slower burning there fore reduces detonation.
@xrsrule Spark plugs ignite gasoline, not pressure. Octane is a rating for anti-detonation properties. Detonation is when gas not only ignites prematurely in a cylinder but also explodes (rather than an even burn) causing a loud knocking and damage to the cylinders. The higher the octane, the less likely detonation will occur. It's a very important thing in aviation engines.
