  • this version is at least 1 tone down that the original, but he sing really good.

  • The Ripper was awesome here, this song is bloody hard to sing and he nailed it. Only part I didn't like as much was the chorus-It's like he forgot the lyrics were 'This is the Painkiller' and just said 'Thah, Ahh, Tha -'.

As a sidenote, I want that damn bike! or at the very least, those sick circular saw hubcaps.

  • Is that Rob Halford?

  • @KrissKross97 nope, tim the ripper

  • sounds better with the ripper cause he doesnt force it, i mean ge doesnt sound like a squirrel

  • Common, this versin is 1 step down of its tunning so that means that makes it a little bit easier to sing due to de tunning wich is a much lower note range... still great versino the best version of judas live!!

  • 5:31 is like most difficult moment to sing, after that whole screaming throughout the song, you just gotta have the power for the last scream. Well, i though it was the last at that moment, but Tim manages to do it again on 6:26 . Tim is an awesome singer. No mistake choosing him for Rob's replacement. Tim sings Painkiller differently than Rob, but in an equal kick ass effect.

  • Andre Matos-Angra ??????? you are out of date

    LOL

  • Only 5 Men cna sing this song:

    1. Rob Halford-Judas Priest

    2. Tim ''Ripper'' Owens-Yngwie Malmsteeln

    3. Chuck Schuldiner-Death

    4. Andre Matos-Angra

    5. Arturo Huizar-Lvzbel(Luzbel)

  • @AFIROCK100 Bruce Dickinson???

  • @AFIROCK100 lemmy kilmster??? :D

  • Drums is so fuckin' sooooft

  • Hey,glenn on da daguityar samsrta.l

    Glenn Tipton rules :-)

  • Pain pai......Ripper ownes

  • how the fuck does this video have only 107,890 views????

  • The Ripper is alot younger than Halford, Rob would have wanted him to do this. They are both Jesus at vocals!

  • halford fuck this boy...

  • I love how you can actually hear the bass...have some respect for bassists

  • @jameshopper8311 agreed! i love the sound of bass in this one too

  • Ripper sings better than halford

  • Tim remeber to me Jack Black

  • You would have to be deaf to say that Ripper isn't a great singer, he's more talented than 99% of singers

  • Ripper owns PainKiller!!!! 5 STARS

  • Rob cannot perform this song anymore at a decent vocal quality becaues of age taking his toll.

Tim does an amazing job still with this song.

  • 1:02 Chad Kroeger from Nickelback?

  • judas priest ....we all worship you guys

  • Tim is the Screaming Painkiller!

  • the song is really hard to singing. +1 Tim

  • best of the best

  • he sounds kinda like halford but even better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lo que sea de cada quien el primer solo de esta cancion eslo que vale la pena ya sea cantada por "THE RIPPER" o "METAL GOOD" :)

  • IMO priest shold have packed it in after Halford left. But if they had to get a new singer, they should have gotten the lead singer from Primal Fear. Listen to "Metal is Forever".

  • Ripper Rocked The F^%$#R

  • WTF IS THIS? I looked up judas priest with HALFORD

  • Priest is the best metalband.

  • The ripper really did a great job here. I've heard rob do worse live.

  • @nuppert check out the halford live in anaheim 2009 dvd, halford makes perfect vocals in that one

  • @nuppert take a look - halford live in anaheim painkiller ;) halford is still metal god!!!

  • Tim is not bad at all he sings very much like halford! but halford cannot be brought down by anyone coz he's a metal god!!!

and that solo kicks some serious ass \m/

  • he does very well, but Hartford is the best! live music metal and if it's worth I have 13 years and love this music and what is now a simple garbage

  • No......just...no

  • i dont know this vocalist

  • Scott really does like playing his own songs.....doesnt like 70s

  • Omg Ripper can sing every note in the world! Just saw him live this summer with Dio disicples

  • /watch?v=mk7JM3PEuCk Try screaming as good as Halford does here at 60!!

  • Judas Priest is a legend thanks to Rob Halford.

  • donde puedo conseguirme esa especie de oja metalika q le colocan adelante de la rueda de la mototcicleta?¿?¿?¿

  • Halford has been Metal God since 1969. Don't tell me it wont eventually catch up with you? Just like Steve Perry. Amazing vocalists cant stay amazing forever unfortunately

  • everyone compares ripper and halford but they never contemplate halfords age. I'd like to see ripper sing this as well as halford can at 59

  • Oh my god! Glen's solo is so fucking amazing!

  • ive seen judas priest two weeks ago. halford was fucking great. the best singer ever no matter if its metal jazz or fuckin rnb. he rules the world of music. \m/

  • Sounds like Dio singing Painkillah... Well, he's in Dio Disciples so no wonder :D

  • it got heavier live!

  • can sum1 tell me whats the song that have drum solo, i know its not "Painkiller"...cant remember the song though...anyone?

  • Ripper looks a little like Brett Favre. LMAO.

  • Halford does painkiller much better than this...

  • @ghous96

    Only on the CD

  • Glenn tipton Rocks ...

  • ....let's see him in 20 years....

  • I was so unfair to the Ripper. I said hes not as good as Rob, but this Painkilla was amazing - 90%. Only Rob had 100% in the studio

  • ultimate-guitar . com /news/entertainment/5_people_you_meet_at_metal_concert . html

    #2 at 1:01. :P

  • Ripper does all the highs to effortlessly.. These days even if Halford can do it he looks like he is going to pass out while doing it. Dont get me wrong Halford is amazing but he just cant do it anymore

  • Meh Halford is the original and in my eyes always the best but the vocals here are still amazing =]

  • Halford is the fuckin metal god on studio albums but is horrible singing live, Rippers not too good on studio albums but is awsome live. Weird!!

  • @Demonomaniax. Rob used to be killer, but he's kind of losing his voice. Rob is studio and Ripper live?

  • watch?v=UJ4Nel-aHZM

    Painkiller HQ !

  • He did a nice job, especially those last few screams.

  • omelette without eggs

  • Halford is Halford and Ripper is Ripper. That's all.

  • Comment removed

  • Come on guys, stop underestimating Tim! Yes, Halford IS BETTER! No one can deny that! But Tim is good too! He can sing perfectly, but not as Halford!

  • @Stevenoulis im sorry...ive never enjoyed the live performances of halford especially on this one..for me the ripper is better live than halford on this one, im sorry

  • @ghettomaistor

yeah but Rob is 60 he was belting out high notes while ripper was still a baby

so you know he could lay waste to ripper anyday but give him a break hes near 60

  • @Stevenoulis yea, agree, Schuldiner is the best :D

  • @DAVETSETSKHLADZE Personally, I prefer Halford! But both are great singers! :D

  • @Stevenoulis I can deny that!Halford can't sing the most of his songs live while Tim can!Halford can't reach Tim's high noted and Halford doesn't have "Rippers" passion and personality in his voice! The only thing that Halford is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better is writing songs!

  • @AXLPANOSROSE On my opinion that's not true! When Halford could sing perfect and had a great voice, Tim wasn't even 15 years old! Now Halford is 60+years old! It is natural that he may lost his voice! Give him a break guys! Personally, I saw Judas Priest in July 2011 and Rob had a great voice! Both are great singers anyway!!

  • @Stevenoulis yeah both are great singers that's for sure! But even when Halford was young he couldn't reach the high notes that he reaches in studio!I don't compare the 60ty years old Halford with the 40ty years old tim!I compare these to according to the past of Rob Halford!

  • @Stevenoulis! Tim got more power and voices even when Halford was young

  • THIS IS NOT JUDAS PRIEST JUDAS PRIEST EXISTIS ONLY WITH ROB HALFORD

  • @krauges haha... no -.-

  • @powermetaler93 yes fuck you halord is the best ripper is just a footnote in the great history of judas fucking priest

  • Guys lets be honest we watch a video where Tim Owens is nailing rob halford...Accept it.ITS A FUCKING FACT

  • @Lo0yd haha it sounds kinda funny.. tim naling rob XD but seriously I couldnt agree more. Tim sings this so effortlessy and looking at how rob sings it now is sad. It's like he is going to drop dead anytime.

  • OMG Tim is fucking amazing, people you're overestimating him, ok, Rob is Amazing too but Tim can handle the business too ja!

  • I couldn't give a monkeys what people think, Rob or not, that is one hell of a vocal performance, and anyone who says otherwise obviously has shit in their ears

  • i agree it's not the same without halford. but you don't realise that when you talk shit about rippers performance you talk shit about the band. they're the ones that hired him. do you really think they would hire someone who sings terrible??? anyone who knows anything about singing will not say it's terrible.

  • I don't know..Rob or not, This Screams it's powerful!

  • @TypesOfMetal Nah, I've heard Tim done better. I think Tim is a great singer btw :).

  • Agreed. It was horrible, but a copy nonetheless.

  • 2:23

I don't give a fuck whether it was rob or not, that was a powerful scream!!!

  • exactly, no rob, no judas!!!

  • The way Ripper came out on the bike was a complete copy of how halford would rev the bike. I don't agree with him coming out on the bike.JMO

  • @MrJarkshark Correction dude......it was a HORRIBLE copy of Rob ...

  • Ripper did had some lessons from Math Barlow :P

  • That blonde girl at 1:02 is scared shitless lol.

  • It sounds sooo fantastic live. I actually like both halford and ripper.

  • 1:55 he smile like "yeah i did it!"

  • man... the drums sounds just perfect!!!

  • Ripper looks like Paul Jr from American Chopper. I hate to say it ,but he sounds better live than Rob does on this song. Every version with Rob sounds like his pants are 3 sizes too small.,

  • @XA351GT yeah but this version is downtuned. i'd like to see one where ripper performs it in the original octave (which halford somehow STILL does)

  • But best version is still Death's one

  • @Brutalslamgrinder dissagree

  • Gamaei o Ioudas Papas.H fwnh tou Halford einai monadikh alla kai tou Timm Ripper Owens GAMAEI.Apo ta gamisterotera Heavy Metal kommatia olwn twn epoxwn

  • He is very sympathic. He is with Blaze Bayley one of the better new wave metal vocalists.

  • Halford... Ripper... Schuldiner... the ONLY people who can pull of the PAINKILLA!!!!!!!

  • @nando88

Ripper can't. He is out of the Metal God's league.

  • @nando88

    Schuldiner can't

  • @MetalHimera gtfo of here... u probably don't even know who chuck schuldiner you anime noob fag

  • @nando88

I know who is Chuck, I like Death, but Chuck just can't sing this song - he didn't hit even a half of notes.

And solos was also ruined. It's hard, but you must face the facts

  • @MetalHimera What are u talking about, dude? Death cover is really rwally good. One of the greatest covers in my opinion.

  • @alk61200

No, it's not. It's not "bad", through, it's nice, but can't compare with original song. Vocals are wrong, they maybe fit the song, but you can't put Chuck in a line with Rob and Ripper. And my favorite solo is also ruined.

I just don't like fanatics, who make an superhuman-idol from Chuck, just because he died. He was a great composer, great musician, but he was not perfect, like all we are.

  • @nando88 Ripper is the only one who can pull off this song live. other singers that i know could sing this song awsomely would be Bruce Dickinson, Geoff Tate, and Ian Gillan

  • @nando88 I pulled of painkiller as well, don't believe me? Go to my YouTube. And I sang it how it is supposed to be sang like the studio version.

  • @nando88 i love how you name off the only 3 people who have even tried! im pretty sure singers like Bruce Dickinson, Geoff Tate, and Jorn Lande could do it as well

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan queensryche is the shit!!!

  • @WarbringerManiac i know!!!! Queesnryche rocks!! Geoff Tate is amazing!!

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan im seeing them sept 11th :P its gonna be my first time seeing them. my parents always saw them back in their day. now its my turn haha

  • @nando88 Nope I can pull of the Painkiller too.

  • Ripper fuckin owned it \m/

  • I AM THE MOTHER FUCKING PAINKILLER LOL!!!

  • wow rippers is good! still, he just hasnt the same presence as halford :/

  • @arthuryk

dude priest is al tipton dude not just halford ripper did amazing job

  • fuck he cant scream like halford it lost its energy

  • ROb is awsome live people im just going to say hs cant do this one live though not to make rob seem bad live becuase hes awsome can someone show me a video he did good live?

  • without the voice of Rob Halford, Judas Priest is Death! ... Horribble!!

  • @Judaspriest1995 Not to hate Ripper, but I'll never could accept Ripper's voice in The classic metal band, he is such a Nu-metal singer, not Halford

  • This is the only song that I think he sang better than Halford. As hard as that is to say, since I think Halford puts far more character into his singing.

  • Halford so cant sing it live this good

  • Judas priest без Роба не Judas priest

  • Poor Drummer to play this song must be his worst nightmare.

  • @videotitan1

    ????????????????

  • Ok!!!!!all this discussions about who sings this song better!!!! Halford or Ripper?!!!!I l love both , they r great singers. Just a reminder Ripper sings this song in a lower key, wich changes everything!!!! so lets all just chill and enjoy metal!!!

  • Woooow!

Ripper rocks! He's way better than Halford.. I respect Halford, but this guy sings painkiller better than Halford was back in '91

  • Ripper can't sing this song ! Halford is the best !

    But the chopper is cool

  • @hardrocknrollmetal I like them both but I must admit Ripper's singing sounds more ....uhhhh....manly to me. And we can also hear the Ian's bass FFS.

  • @hardrocknrollmetal HAlford even when he was young sang it shity live for some reason

  • Ripper ist der Bessere !

  • Man he owns this

  • by the way would you stop bitching about ripper. the guy was a cover band singer, and did an excellent job taking over for one of the most iconic vocalists in heavy metal. what the hell more do you want from the guy. hes a great metal vocalist and can sing all the priest songs extremely well

  • holy shit he sings it better than halford did live

  • @BOOLsheet He did drop it down a key though, Halford used to sing it in its original key.

  • @BOOLsheet oh yah by far, i tihnk Halford is a slightly better singer!

  • @BOOLsheet Lol, its a key lower. He CAN'T sing it the way Halford can live:P

  • @Archangel112 halford cant sing it like that anymore. anyway, range doesnt have anything to do with "better." its just where your voice sits.

  • @BOOLsheet Halford never sung it like this, this is a key lower. Halford uses high head voice and falsetto, where-as Ripper uses lower head voice and chest voice.

  • @BOOLsheet he sings really good but i like ROB BETTER.......you cannot say hes better

  • @hockeydude634 i preffer rob too, but he never singed painkiller live as the album, maybe because it was one of the last song with 17 songs before it, but anyway, theres only 2 good videos when rob sings it "well" one from japan, and one bootleg in the 90s

  • @sonnic1995

to be as old as Rob is he does a damn good job

  • a 2 maricones de mierda no les gusta

  • Dont say Ripper aint a good singer but Rob Halford will always be the one and only singer fronting Judas Priest in my opinion

  • leave Ripper alone, he do a Good Job!!

  • Ripper is a talented singer, no one is disputing that. The problem when he joined Priest was that he had MASSIVE boots to fill AND his voice is very reminicent of Halford's, meaning that people are reminded of him. It's a shame really. He done better on this song than I've ever heard Rob perform it live, even back in the '90's. Still, RH is a Metal God.

  • i fucking love this song !!!!!!

  • i think only on the painkiller album songs he sounds like him

  • they had to tune it down for ripper

  • Where teh fuck is halford!????? There is NO judas priest whitout halford and i mean NO. Awesome kickass drummer fuckin great solos and riffs, but whitout halford its not complete

  • This actually sounds class tuned down.

  • Halford is still way back better than ripper.

  • Tim Owens is good.I still prefer Halford.

  • I know Judas Priest had generally wierd feel without Halford but I can't possibly figure out why Rob's in such trouble reaching those high notes like he did in the 90's or in the studio.I guess fatigue is a major problem for him.If most wouldn't care for the stage presence he'd sure be packing a wallet anytime.I liked Ripper era, especially Jugulator

  • Wow, they picked *this* as the last song of the set!? Is there a harder priest song to sing?

  • why would he sound like Bruce? wrong band dude

  • Ripper sounds like a chicken.

  • even when sure some of the most devoted halford fans want to kill me, in my opinion ripper's range is wide and more agressive than halford in the painkiller days, rob have al ways had an amazing range but ripper is brutally better

  • Paain.... ?!

    Paain.... ?!

    Paaainkilleer!!!

    \m/

  • All hail Tim Owens

  • IMO this is the best live version of painkiller. By the time Rob came back to priest, he had lost his ability to sing those high notes

  • @dhruvrajvanshi

and for the same reason judas priest version with halford back has turned the songs slower to give the chance to halford to have enough air on the lounges to sing, while ripper screams like hell like if he didn't need to suffer to do it, priest sound on ripper years where faster and agressive

  • one problem needs to turn up guitar ☺

  • Ripper is one of the best replacements ever. PRIEST rule.
