  • YOU CANNOT COMPREHEND THE TRUE NATURE OF REISEN'S LUNATIC EYES!

  • Lunacy means madness, I know this due to having a character named after that word. So I'm listening to the song... 0:32 kicks in, and I instantly know why that word is in the title of the video.

  • @PurifyingHate Lunacy means madness, yes... did you know that the name origionally came from the moon, though? it was a beleif that people became more crazed on the night of a full moon, which, if you look at death tolls, more murders are done on the full moons than any other night.

it was beleived that ONLY the moon was the reason that certain people acted on their nature. some tried to use it as an excuse for murder, and others were beleived, and let go.

  • I kept seeing her eyes for five minutes after the song ended.

  • Shit. I love this arrange so much, but now I see that the first time I listened to it was 12 at night on a full moon

  • The song was lost to me because Reisen entranced me with her eyes.

I'M GOING INSAAANE, SOMEBODY HELP MEEE.

  • How did I miss this piece, it just brought tears to my eyes!

  • t=NODE is quite honestly tied with the infamous O-Life for my favorite Classic/Rock/Whatever-Else-You-Can-Shake-A-Stick-At arranger. Glad to see so many of their arranges being shared. <333

  • Beautiful. The footsteps only add to the mysterious allure of Reisen U. Inaba.

  • Comment removed

  • D: so its not just me stopping at 1:37

  • Apparently. It keeps stopping there for me, too. How unfortunate.

  • This story vividly expresses the experiences of Reisin's life...

The first half of the song represents the sadness and suffering of her life. I can imagine Reisin just after she fled from the moon...

The Lunar War had catastrophic effects on Reisen's home, the moon. She was only little when the youkai invaded her home. As refugees of the war, Reisen's family tried to escape from the conflict to a safe place.

Her family managed to escape to a launch pad on the moon-

  • Their plan was to escape to Earth, the Moon was not safe with the youkai everywhere. The launch was a one-way ticket, they would not be able to return when they left.

As they were preparing to leave, the youkai advanced on them. They mercilessly advanced on Reisen's family. Her parents brought as much time for Reisen as they could. T

he Youkai slaughtered them, the blood of Reisen's parents splattered into her eyes blinding her, the image of her parent's brutal death was the last thing she saw

  • ...The escape vehicle ejected, leaving Reisen as the only survivor. Her tears mixed with the blood of her parents as the pod descended to earth. Her eyes were hidden by dark shadows, only the blood and tears were any indication of her suffering.

She was alone now, her parents were gone. When she landed, she exited to find a strange world... The footsteps at 1:20 represent her aimless wandering, her loneliness, her pain, and her desire to find somebody.

The youkai she attempted to approach fled

  • Her eyes had improved enough for her to see people's outlines. It was raining out, making it harder to see.

I could imagine her reaching out to the fuzzy objects and yelling "wait!" as they fled. Blood ,rain, and tears covered her face, she was a strange rabbit girl from that had fallen out of the sky.

She happened upon Eientei and collapsed, it was too much for her... Eiring and Kaguya found a unconscious moon rabbit on their doorstep and immediately took her in.

  • Reisen woke up to warm faces that welcomed her. Her eyes had improved and she could see the warm smiles of Eirin and Kaguya. They explained how they found her, they asked questions, and after all that welcomed her as a new member of their family.

2:07 represents a hope for happiness for Reisen.

The speeding up of the footsteps represents Reisen's hopeless quest finally leading to the light at the end of the tunnel.

The explosion at 2:32 represents Reisen's newfound happiness, her new family.

  • I can imagine her enduring Tewi's silly pranks, explaining to Eirin how the moon had changed since she had left, and casually talking to Kaguya. I can imagine an event where everyone was laughing as Reisen headlocked Tewi for misbehaving.

She was happy again, but she never forgot her parents. Her eyes were now dyed a deep red from the event...

3:23+ represents Reisen sleeping, a contented happy sleep. A smile on her face as she dreamed about the pleasant experiences with her new family...

  • Geez that was poorly written. Sorry for all the typos. Maybe if my dad wasn't bothering me about dishes every damn 5 seconds... annoying as hell.

Very nice arrange. Sorry for the inconsistency, hope you like it anyways.

  • Excuse me. Is this solely your own story or is it based on the touhou books?

  • hunh? There are touhou books? I dunno I just come up with things from character's profiles, the songs influence what I make mostly.

  • .....

Since several videos ago, not only have I been looking forward to the beautiful uploads by the poltergeists, but I began expecting another story by you, 85centimeters. You contribute to the experience that these videos bring so much, it's simply inspirational, what fans create from such a wonderful thing like Touhou. Thank you, 85centimeters, I hope one day my written works are as emotionally touching as yours, and thank you, KakashiMr, for sharing such a brilliant piece with us once more

  • Well, there are touhou books, or you can call it a novel and manga, some were fan-made and some were written by ZUN himself. (Although I haven't read them all, there's too many.) I think one of ZUN's work called "Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth" was about Kaguya, Eirin, Reisen and the story about lunarians.

Its still impressive that you made them with the character's profiles as basis alone XD

Keep up posting and you might want to start writing a novel about Touhou like other people.

  • Your story has such strong synergy with the song. I was just about ready to break down and cry from sorrow/happiness.

  • Wow this story really makes me appreciate the song more. Then again I hadn't got a good change to listen to it well until now. Listening to the song with your story made me almost want to cry. :') I really love this arrange now lol.

  • Amazingly, I seemed to be reading your story almost in time with the song--I got to the part where she wakes up in Eitentei just as the song reached the 2:32 swell. I think that you've somehow managed to permanently improve the song for me--even if I'm not reading this and it's playing in the background as I do other stuff, when I hear the climax of this song I'm going to have happy thoughts of what you wrote now.

  • I dared to look into her eyes. :)

Also goddamnit youtube. Stop cutting me off at 1:37. D:

  • That's what you get for looking into her eyes. :P

I did the same thing. Now Reisen's eyes have stopped my video at 1:37 as well. D:

  • 2:32 is the whole reason i love this song. the whole reason i love invisible full moon in general.

  • you're kidding. progression and mood change is what makes music fun :P

  • Ah, many thanks.

I'll have to show my friend this one now, very nice song.

  • that was awesome beginning to end

  • Gorgeous.

  • I keep forgetting about t=NODE. They have some neat stuff, that they do. One of the other circles who are highly underrated imo.

This arrange, I think, really brings out the hypnotic beauty of Lunatic Eyes. It's actually kind of...eerie.

  • Oh god.. Forget the words "useless bunny"! No matter how many bad things that had happened with her or her weaknesses, Reisen still has and will ALWAYS has the strength to keep going for the people she cares about! We should understand what's she's been though.

More love and respect should be shown for her eyes of lunacy.

Also, outstanding description, Emiya. I approve! This song is perfect for listening (and looking at her eyes does drive me insane but I'm not complaining).

  • What a mysterious song. This is perfect story material, this one actually has a happy ending :)

Thanks for bringing this song to Emiya's attention, I'll get started on the story~

I hope you will like it.

  • Though it's a new moon right now, the glare of Reisen's eyes are having a strong effect on me, as usual...

I wouldn't mind more of t=NODE's work. Hopefully I won't be scared away... Listening to this piece makes it hard to believe that may happen though.

  • A useless little bunny only good for her freaking awesome theme song.

  • I like this overall, the footsteps was a really nice edition.

  • claps for moon rabbits! yaaaaay!

  • Nice touch on the sound footsteps. Make the beginning kinda dramatic.

    Nice find Emiya :)

  • Eerie, in a good sort of way :)

Personally I find "Lunatic Eyes" being a pretty okay song. Not great, not bad either. But this song is pretty good. It started a little too mellow for my taste, but then it picked up. I particularly loved the transition in 2:32

And that picture of Reisen is... hypnotic. Good update overall.
