You haven't read much about this case, have you? There are many witnesses to this child's early speech. A fair chunk of a large extended family witnessed his early speech - and outsiders/friends, too. It isn't a matter of any doubt, at all. He was speaking words in context, as you note and would do so until his need was met. So, he would say water, until given a drink; poo until his nappy was changed and so on. If you don't believe it, that is fine - but it is still true.
he asks the dad "he learned the word for water at two weeks" and the dads like"ya" and the interviewers like: "dont u think thats a bit far fetched"? and the dad says"no". no. what a stupid answer! obviously the answer is YES its far fetched "yes, but thats what he did" or something maybe. but its a big fucking bullshit lie so he lied and it was see through
speaking at two weeks? what a load of bullshit! im gonna need some kind of evidence for that. if my kid said a word at two weeks old, if i didnt have a video camera i would rush off to get one and get the two week old on tape immediately. that claim is bullshit bullshit bullshit. a baby has barely opened its eyes at two weeks and this guy expects me to believe that it heard the word for water IN CONTEXT spoken among adults and picked out the specific word for water. bullshit. fuck this liar
Seriously, why do you seek to lie like this? Or perhaps you don't know what Singapore Poly's relative standing in the academic world is? A three year course at Sing Poly will get you TWO YEARS credit for an Australian University degree. It is degree level material, with a more experimental emphasis than normal degrees. You either don't know what you are talking about or are trying to be mischievous.
By the way, the child is now at a University in Malaysia doing sciences.
@gla300 Its genes. Quit being a little bitch and get on with your life. THese prodigies are extremely intelligent. So much so, that they rarely have anyone to relate to, because most people don't think in same way that they do. Perhaps if you had this intelligence you might be able to get a glimpse at what its like to feel truly alone. Very few people are on his level; on his wave length.
@jed52 this is all i could think about when watching the so called interview. they are asking and telling him all kinds of uninteresting stuff. he must be quite bored with them.
I myself am far away from being as smart as him (to put it in a iq number, mine is ranged between 140-150, so... still a lot of people in this world who are on the same level as me) but I often feel alone or stupified by most people around me. what must it be like for him... or is he above this feeling?
Certainly the father's ambitions. Look, he even imagined that a high school (Singapore Poly) to be a university... Huh?? Singapore Poly is the place after 'O' levels, and they get an equivalent of the High School Diploma (Grade 12) after that.
Gifted kids needs supportive and interested fathers like this one. They don't need idiotic and incomprehending comments from people who haven't got any experience of the situation.
Tellingly, the worst comments here, come from Americans and Singaporeans. Such warm, welcoming societies!
What amazes me here, is the ignorance of the commenters below. Several attack the father - and yet none know him, or the child's educational situation. If you research the situation a little more, you would discover that the father is just being supportive of his son's needs. This is what is required in this situation.
I understand that those who attack him, show little insight into the situation. They are revealing their own limitations and prejudices by doing so.
This is not a personal attack on his father. But clearly he doesn't see it that he doesn't give a chance for Ainan to speak. If the boy is shy, then let him be shy. I just hope Ainan will live his life happy and not rob of his childhood.
Sorry, but it just infuriates me how parents like this are always pushing their children over the limit. I'm not surprised if he suffers some sort of breakdown in years to come due to the pressure.

It kinda make me angry to see these kind of people "prodigies".
I mean seriously, why wasn't I born like him ? I've to know the reason.....
Is it in the genes or the surrounding environment ? or maybe both ?

Why would a dad force his child to memorize digits of pi, or take O Level exams when he's clearly not prepared (he got a C)?

This guy's dad is a liar and a psycho. No kid talks at 2 weeks. He pushed this kid too hard.
