  • damn this car is so cool & mystical looking...

  • The sound of those 2 cars give me chills...one of the best sounds a car "can" ever make. Especially that daytona

  • That car is beautiful. Enough said.

  • 1:28 now that is how a Mopar should sound!

  • man... you had a camera that could zoom-in in 1982... damn, that's older than I am. damn the cars... that camera itself is a piece of history

  • @AlexRmF Wow too cool! Someone that brought up the equipment! That was the very first Mopar event we shot and it was with rented equipment. It worked out so well that I went and bought the exact same setup. I still have both pieces around here somewhere. I can't remember the model number of the camera but both pieces were Panasonic. The VCR deck was a Panasonic NV-8420 and yes, the camera and deck were separate with like an eight-foot cord connecting the two! Times sure have changed!

  • @OneBadSuperbird I had a Sony Betacam from that era and it had one helluva fine zoom lens

  • On the speedway!

  • REDNECKS

  • Geez stop shouting......

  • God, I can't imagine if the car was totalled... '69 Charger Daytona is my dream car, hell i'm hoping to clone one, one day.

  • bad thing about these engines are is that they accept only premium grade fuel to make them work. if they could accept 87 octane rated fuel. thatll be awesome..... and get almost the same performance.

  • is that black car at 1:23 a road runner?

  • @jrmissca060708 That was a 1969 Coronet.

  • 69 coronet 500** haha

  • @OneBadSuperbird

Looks to be a 69 Super Bee..

  • @jrmissca060708 ye mate i think it is

  • 1:26 => Engine sound is just priceless.....

  • @GM572 If it was a 4 speed more so in my opinion but the big mopars do have a great sound!!!

  • Keystone Klassics on a Daytona? That would get you thrown out of the Mopar Nats today :o

  • I'm glad the car and the driver were OK... I'd be sick to see something as rare as a '69 Daytona get totaled!!

  • read the video description before you guys ask the same thing over and over!

  • @joshuaaulis92 Car and driver were both fine. Please read video description.

  • The Daytonas and Superbirds with the 2-4bbr carb, 426Hemi would eat any car off the fwys---Petty, running the Superbirds from the late 60's and into the early 70's made him KING RICHARD! 'Birds and Daytonas were eating up most of the winnings of NASCAR during those yrs---TOTALLY AWESOME VEHICLES!

  • wow man...glad the car and the guy is alright

  • "He Endoed!" LOL!

  • that are some nice cars... luckily nothin happend to the superbee, i hope its still on the road..!

  • its a charger daytona

  • oops sorry charger daytona.. i made a mistake...!

  • So what did the car look like after... was it salvageable.

  • The car was fine. Please read the video description.

  • Handling has never been America's strong point...

But your V8 engines are just awesome

  • @itsdamo1993 GT40, S7, Cobra R, ZR1, Shelby Cobra. nuff said.

  • Oh yeh your race and supercars are good....

I'm talking about every other car :)

    But once again awesome engines

  • @itsdamo1993 lol does any manufacture produce an affordable daily driver that has better than mediocre handling/performance though? :)

  • You know the pontiac G8?

It's a rebadged VE holden commodore

100% australian designed and built...only thing in it American is the engine.

They have a lot of bang for buck and from what I've heard they were better than the challenger etc.

The 2010 camaro also rolls on an Australian chassis (zeta platform)

  • Awesome is the only word to discribe that car

  • Man, those Keystone Klassics look really cool on this green Daytona! Congrats to the (then) owner for not having a set of ubiquitous (and not as cool-looking) Centerline wheels on it!

  • There were no finer cars than these ones. Nothing can touch them. It's like comparing Led Zeppelin to Blink 182 or something when putting up these masterpieces to some of todays musterpieces.

  • always loved old dodges and chryslers but was mainly a gm guy. but now since gm's quality has gone down the tubes. Gm should stand for garbage motors. id buy a chrysler over the crap garbage motors is producing any day. i recently bought a chevy malibu(big mistake. they haed a neon for the same price. i wish ihad bought that instead

  • they were both owned by the same company, but this is a DAYTONA not a superbird. daytona is dodge, superbird is plymouth, take care to remember. same build just different name.

  • I am a GM guy all the way but I dont think there is a car more iconic than the Superbird

  • @Kingshti1 The hemi cuda is up there pretty high too, yenko camaro also

  • @Kingshti1 the Daytona AND the Superbird were both legends....

  • what year this video taken ?? awsome cars dude

  • Video was shot in 1982.

  • Interesting looking back to a time when these cars were not ultra rare collector's pieces, but actually driven. Times have changed. I almost guarantee, if that car is still around..those Keystone rims are NOT on it LOL..gotta love the 80's!!

    Great video..thanks for posting :)

  • Mate that car sound bloody awesome, so did the other one, would have been such a shame to see a beast like that crash

  • It was a happy ending. All's he did was spin the car out down on to the lower apron of the banking.

  • i bet he had to change his undies, glad all panned out well, such an awsome muscle car

  • MOPAR OR NO CAR!

  • HOLY SHIT! Great video!

  • MOPARS RULE!!!

  • Back in the late 60's early 70's Mopars were the best handling cars out there excepting Vettes and Mustangs. I had a 71 MGB and my brother had a 68 Charger with the 383 and he would tear me a new one on a road course, it would corner very flat and launch out of the corners like a rocket. Tires back then were the limiting factor.

  • The noise that Daytona made as it headed off down that long striaght was just magical. When it comes to V8 power and good looks, you Americans rock the show. Makes me wish i was living in the states driving a 69 Charger. Hope the Daytona came out fine after its wipeout. Would love to stick that badass big block in my 91 Hilux. Muscle Cars 4 Ever

  • such a beautiful sound as she pulls away the best noise one can hear.

  • It was a STREET daytona. Not a racing car. Any one who believes that the car will turn that easy is an ignorant. Check the racing Daytona's and you will see how good they take the turns. And remember folks...Very few things were better and faster at 1969. Good vid, mate. It shows what can happen if you don't take care of your car...

  • Nice :)

  • in 1982 that car was only 13 yrs old, my daily driver is 27 yrs old and isn't that cool. what is "endoed"?

  • That cornet RT was pure sex man. (not the Daytona i know which one that is)

  • I'm always amazed how parts and stuff for these old cars have gone up. Back then I would have never guessed they would bring the prices they do. Hind sight, I guess. Had I known, I'd have kept all my "55, '56, '57 two door Hard tops, Nomads, 59 and 60 Impala's and my '49 Merc. But they were just old cars then, could buy them all day for between $25, for a good runner and $100, for a real good one. LOL! How times change. But, In twenty years, some of todays cars might be in the same class.

  • Yup, Been around since '46. Paid a whopping twenty five bucks for the Ol' girl. The engine was wasted when I got it. So it had to been completely gone through. I think the first overhaul cost me about $200. The last one, two years ago, cost damn near 5k. and thats with me doing most of the work. I have several engines in the machine shed. Guess I should have picked up some more trannys back when they went for twenty bucks a copy. I'll find one, but the T-10 will run till then.

  • That's way cool! Again, best of luck with your cars and thanks for checking out our videos!

  • I forgot to mention my first Mopar. It's a 1958 Plymouth Fury. Candy Apple red, 2 door hard top, 392 Hemi six pack, 4 spd. I've had "Christen" since 1960. Of all my sleds Christen would be the last to go, if it can to it.

  • Well, I wish I had known you were looking for a trans. A good friend and fellow Superbird owner in Arkansas just sold a 833 4-speed last week in ebay for $900. So you've owned the '58 Fury since 1960? Wow, you've been around for a while! Congrats and best of luck with your projects!

  • It was Petty Blue, really don't like that shade. As for the tranny, it came from a 440 Road Runner, I don't know who or when it was set it up for Mopar, but it will work until I can find an 833 at something close to sanely priced. I would rather put in a 833, but, I haven't found one. Well,,,, I found one, rebuilt,, in Cali, but the guy told 16K with a straight face. I know their getting scarce but Damn. It will never be matching number, so value will suffer but I don't intend to sell it anyway

  • OneBadSuperbird; Glad to hear the Daytona survived unharmed. Beautiful white bird. I'm finishing up a triple black Superbird I drug out of a barn in Southern Mo. 5 years ago. Originally a 440 six pack, 4 spd car, I'm dropping a 69 Hemi in it out of a charger and a super T-10. With luck it will be ready this spring. Won't be a matching number car, but hey, we all can't have it perfect. It will complete the Plymouth tri-fecta though, 70 GTX, 70 Super Cuda and 70 Superbird. Mopar, my boys Mopar

  • Sounds pretty cool. What color was the Bird originally? I know black wasn't one of the seven colors offered on Superbirds. Oh, and what's up with the "Super T-10"? The Mopar folks won't be too happy with that trans when the A-833 Hemi 4-speed is an awesome trans and the one Mother Mopar intended! Good luck with your car though!

  • The white SuperBird at the start of this video looks awsome without the blackouts on the front nose. Clean looking!

I hope the Daytona survived without too much damage. Thats a bummer seeing it spinout on the bank. :-(

  • The Daytona was totally unharmed. The white Superbird at the beginning was and still is mine 27 years later. The nose had a couple dings so I had redone it. I had the blackouts but also liked the clean look of not having the blackouts. About a year later, I put the blackouts back on. The car is now red, white and blue and is full-on drag car done as a tribute to Sox & Martin that can be seen in another one of the videos I have posted. No blackouts now either!

  • damn i wish i'd have been there that looks like heaven

  • Yup, when you hear people say "them were the days", well, them were definitely the days! Thanks for stopping by and checking out our videos!

  • for everyone who thought that was a 79 300 they are completely wrong STOP THE VIDEO AT 2:05 ITS 75-77 CORDOBA BECAUSE THE 79 300 HAD SIDE INDICATOR LIGHTS AND RECTANGULAR QUAD STACKED HEADLIGHTS AT 2:05 YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THIS CAR DOESN NOT HAVE SIDE INDICATORS BUT 3 LITTLE REFLECTORS INSTEAD THEREFORE ITS NOT A 79 300

  • The white Cordoba you're referring to is not the same car that is parked next to the white Superbird in the beginning of the video. I know this because the white Superbird is mine and I remember talking to the owner of the WHITE 1979 CHRYSLER 300 about his WHITE 1979 CHRYSLER 300. Thanks for your input though.

  • ahh,a 300 forgot about them.did it have rich "Corinthian leather" as lamented by

Ricardo Montalbán? or just plain o'l real leather....LOL

  • That's a good question!

  • RIP Ricardo Montalban

  • did he really die?

  • yeah, on the 9th of January I think

  • sorry ment to type cordoba<(spelling)?

  • cool vid glad that guy and his cars ok..anyways whats that white cordoba<spalling?) 75-76? got in it? i know they came stock with 318-360 or 400's just asking,my mom had a new one when i first got my license and she'd let me drive it(lol bad move on her part)

  • That was a 1979 Chrysler 300. They were only made in 1979. All were white with red leather interiors, special grille, fender louvers, red and blue striping, special wheels and the E58 360 four barrel high output engine. Unfortunately, they were still Cordobas and seriously prone to rust. Finding a clean '79 300 today is a pretty rare find. They were really nice cars if you lived in a dry climate.

  • Those spoilers existed because the Charger Daytona ran 200MPH on the Nascar ovals. Not like all these rice racer fools who have giant wings for no reason other than hanging their washing out on the weekends.

  • Thank goodness the dodge is ok, would have been tragic for a classic like that to get done.

  • Gotta love glasspacks baby!

  • this thing is no match for a 1969 corvette

  • You are high! I love Vettes, the 63 split window coupe is one of my favorite cars of all time, but unless you're talking about a 69 Vette with a 427 4-speed there is no way it could match the top speed of a Daytona. The transmission in the Vette wouldn't hold up. Power wise it would keep up until anything past 120 and then the Daytona's 727 tranny and aerodynamics would let it soar right past the Vette.

  • ohh!!! its because its a coronet 500!!!!

  • one thing that i have never known is why that 69 bee at the end of the vid has the rear tail lights like that. some 69 bees do, some dont. some one enlighten me?

  • Some folks liked the Coronet 500 tail panel with the "third" taillight would be my best guess. Maybe that Superbee wasn't a real Superbee and was a Coronet 500 that was converted into a Superbee. There were a good number of non-Superbee Coronets that wound up as Superbees.

  • That rear-end with that front end equals 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T baby! That is a rare color combo for model. If that car is still around and in original condition it would fetch almost a quarter million. My father bought a blue 69 R/T used in 1971 and I bought myself a gold 69 Coronet 440 in 1998. I still have mine and I have a few vids on here that I posted a little over a month ago. The Daytona... well, it could fetch well over a million in that color. Those are two EXTREMELY badass mopars.

  • YEP he went high on the bank and lost traction good thing he was able to get it back on track COULD have been UGLY!!!

  • He must've lost traction or hit a crosswind and paniced.

  • Nope, he was told by the volunteers working the event that he could take the small banking at 120 MPH because he had a wing car. Luckily, it all worked out OK as he only spun the car down on to the lower aprom of the banking.

  • Thankfully the guy and the car were allright. Bet his pants were a little dirty after that! Now i like the Daytona, the 'Bird, and the Runner, but i am curious about the 79 300 in the background. Is it still around? My father had one when i was a kid and i have liked them ever since.

  • some people have to relize these were early 80's footage of some great cars-glad that daytona wasnt hurt-consider the new "performance" cars for sale in 82-82 gt mustang,82 camaro's and firebirds-and thats it. im a mustang man myself but i have an affinity for those old mopars.nice vid.

  • Im not a big fan of the Daytona. I like the Superbird more because of the nose cone mostly.

  • uh... they were virtually identical...(shared costs was how mother Mopar saved money) the differences between cars was really subtle.

  • Check out my Roadrunner Superbird

"1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird Sexy 60s Super Car"

  • bad ass car love it!!!

  • I can't imagine parking this baby in a small area. Is it true that you can't see about 3.28 feet of the car nose when you are behind the wheel?

  • Definitely! You have to be cautious with the nose and always remember that it's hanging out front.

  • Freakin awesome car just love I't:D

  • I agree, there are alota factors that caused what happened one main is the tire. The daytona is a legend its sad the younger generation didnt get to experience these cars prowling the streets.

  • this guy just didnt know how to take a bank. Not like you'll see a bank like that on your way for beer.

  • Thats my Dream car!

  • people say american cars cant take corners, but how were you supposed to do THAT with a daytona, there is a HUGE wing @the back for downforce, street daytonas were close to the nascar daytonas, and nascar drivers back then didnt have problems....how could u spin on the first bend?

  • he was ridign to high in the turn and his right rear wheel slipped over the edge causing the left wheel to spin, therefore spinning out the car

  • When that thing started going around my heart stopped... What was even worse is the fact the video ends before you see the conclusion. Oh what a heart stopper. Beautiful car...

  • Glad no car was hurt it still made me sick though.

  • oh man, if this was my dad's car he would of killed me, but i don't see that happening when our general lee is chained down to the floor!

  • By the way....if you think there is nothing wrong with doing this then i guess you also dont have a problem with the movie makers taking 68,69 and 70 Dodge Chargers and using them in the making of the Dukes Of Hazard. You know they destroyed hundreds of em dont you...even Hemi cars if they could find them. You may be a good driver but what you going to do when you really fuck up? Last i heard no one is making the nose for these cars!

  • Here's something for you to think about. The Dukes Of Hazzard TV show destroyed around 280 Chargers. Do you have ANY clue how many people were influenced by that show and became Mopar enthusiasts because of it? There are FAR more Chargers and all kinds of other Mopars that were found rotting in firlds and yeards and barns that are now restored because of that show. It's really amazing what looking at things a little more realistically can do.

  • Another thing to think about. At the time Dukes Of Hazzard was made (1979-1985) the dodge Charger was not an antique/classic it was just cosidered an old muscle car. (You figure in 1979 the oldest Charger used was only 11 years old) People didn't know to appreciate it yet. We also had not yet entered the auto design dark age of the 1980's

  • "I suppose everyone should make their Daytonas into trailer queens and never drive them?"

Yes that is exactly what you should do! If you want to race one the sale this one and with the money you will make off of the sale build a fake one and race it to your hearts content! This car is a part of history and will never be again so they should be preserved and to take a REAL bird out on a track is foolish in irresponsible!

  • NO!!! thats not right these cars are made to be driven. I myself own a 1971 440-6 cuda and a 1970roadrunner. And i drive them...... and i drive it the way they used to

  • nice daytona but i hate keystones...

  • I'm glad that he didn't wreck it, or get hurt.

  • hi there great cars , i live in england and have a general lee replica ,my mate as a 511 hemi daytona replica , nice to see chelsea , i have family that lived in ann arbor i was there 25 years ago brings back memorys keep up the mopars

  • man... i wish i was around in those days...

  • Wow! Cool piece of history... very cool he still owns it.

  • glad he and the car are ok

  • The owner of the car and the car were both fine. All he did was spin out down on to the lower apron of the banking. He collected his bearings and motored on around to the parking area where the rest of the cars were. That was 25 years ago and he still owns the car to this day.

  • i love people like that.keep a car..always..i plan on keeping my car till it wont move!!!! that thing sounds sweet..was it a hemi??? cuz they sound different then a 383 or 440 would. the keystone classics look great on that thing

  • It's a 440 four barrel automatic. The white Bird you see in the background with no nose blackouts is mine from the other video racing the '72 Cuda.

  • wonder what happen if the guy was ok
