  • Nice job

  • them braids r like mad tight could have broke off the girls hair

  • hi

my daughter has mix race hair ( realy thik and like ur girls but longer) and her hair is easy to manage but the ends frizz up hori bly she wants to straighten her hair but i dont want her hair to break so would this keep the ends of her hair straighter.

    CrazeHair

PS can it keep straight for more than 8 hrs

  • is she really six

  • Can u use rubber bands becauase i dont have any non metal

  • @PaigeHottey Soak the rubber bands in oil for ten minutes prior to applying and it should still work.

  • Thanx

    i'll b sure to try dis :))

  • thats really pertty

  • that's not straighten hair!

  • Nice! JUST gotta clip dem ends!

  • thanks for the video I remember I use to thread my hair at that age.... one thing I never understand is why are hair stylists always so brutal with hair the excessive pulling and yanking is so unneccessary!!

  • It works so good I do my friends lil sis"s hair and didn't work flat ironed but this did thx so much :)

  • I think you did a really good job on her hair!!!! Thanks for the video;) I'll definitely be trying this technique on my baby girls hair whose texture looks to be just about the same.. Thanks girlie;)

  • She got beutiful hair, i'm 16 and i've never had that long hair :s

  • i'm sorry but my mom was able to straighten my hair better than that when i was smaller with my natural hair, idk if my texture is easier to work with, but her hair was still poofy. hot combs are not bad if u use a heat protectant and my hair was probably bra strap length back then. idk

  • Question: why do so many black Americans do crazy stuff to their little girls' hair to make it look less like natural afro-type hair?

Just curious because where I live in Canada, most of the black folks are immigrants or only 1st or 2nd generation, and they just tend to do cool braids/work with the natural hair textures for the most part.

    Is it a cultural thing?

Stretching and doing all this harsh straightening is terrible for your hair! Why can't more black Americans be proud of their hair?!

  • Comment removed

  • @AshillaBeige I know you commented on this 3 months ago but I just had to say this. First NO stretching hair is NOT a cultural "thing" . Braid work is fine. Braid work is a form of STRETCHING your hair. Afro-A thick hairstyle with very tight curls that sticks out all around the head, like the natural hair of some black people.(definition) Natural- Not being treated, altered or disguised, MEANING "AFRO" is NOT the natural way African american hair grows. Point NO WOMAN HAS "NATURAL HAIR!

  • @AshillaBeige The baby's hair IS a natural texture, just straighted so her mother can properly moisturize and manage her hair WITHOUT tangles causing the child's hair to break at the ends of the hair, THUS retaining growth. And those "black folks" in Canada that you call " Immigrants" * cringes* might just not be black. Not ALL ethnic races that RESEMBLE Black Americans are black.(JESUS LAWD lol) What you said sounded like something a racist confused privileged white woman would have said.

  • @janeblow80 They're black because they're from Africa. I know because I go to uni with them and am friends with them. In fact, most of my friends aren't white. My groups is very mixed. There are few black people here, but many African immigrants who come to go to uni but many are first gen. And the immigrantshave an accent. And I'm not white. My family comes from Africa. You're clearly an idiot for thinking that anyone who disagrees with you is white.

You're also backing up my point. Thanks.

  • @AshillaBeige No my love....your the idiot. If you read what I typed CORRECTLY, then you would read and KNOWN that I didn't call you "white" that what you were saying SOUNDED as if you were a WHITE RACIST CONFUSED PRIVILEGED woman. Learn how to comprehend dear. It doesn't really bother me that you disagree with what I say, just refrain from name calling...it makes you look like a troll. lol ALso...ahhh yeah your comment bore me. Live long and prosper love! peace!

  • @janeblow80 Oh, and stop backing up the euro-centric racist aesthetic so many black people with a racial inferiority complex abide by. THAT'S racist. Why don't you go start a double eyelid surgery fund for East Asian women while you're at it?

Love people who are so stupid and don't even know it. They're entertaining. Thanks.

  • that looks like it would hurt,,, HEADACHE!

  • my mom uses that banding method too on my hair. but she does it with cord, not with ponytails :) and do you have tips for my hair to grow?

  • That song is really good!!

  • Lol I am ghanaian, we call this threading because we use hair thread for this instead of bands

  • That child looks just like you Shida! Lovely vid by the way :)

  • What's the name of the song?

  • @AfroLady352 "Beautiful Girl" by Trinitee 5 7

  • It Look Like SHE Gotta Perm ' Ann Im Bouta Go Tryy Mines Cause I Seriously Need Maah Hair To Look Like I Need A Perm (its wayyyyyyy nappy) =D

  • Nice. I'll keep this in mind.

Her hair is BEAUTIFUL and so is she!

  • Her hair grew A LOT since the kinky curly video....very beautiful girl....looks just like her mommy. :)

  • i have to use the twist & banding method after blow drying in this humid weather in hawaii.

  • I think the results are very good and perfect for a little girl and minus the pony tails in the front I may have to use that method for myself as well as my children :)

  • I can tell that when she's older, her hair is going to look beautiful when it's flat ironed.

  • She's so ADORABLE! And she looks JUST like you. =]

    Cute vid!

  • cool

  • she's BEAUTIFUL. and her faces are so cute when you're doing her hair like... "OMG Mom, hurry!" lol You're such a great mom! :)

    BTW- LOVE THE SONG!

  • Is thats your daughter? She's really cute. I have curly hair. I want to get straight bangs without cutting my hair. I've been checking put vids to naturally straighting curly hair. This helped a lot thanks. I'll try it. Do you know how to get bangs without cutting hair or a hair piece , that would help so much. ^_^ Have a good one!

  • Really nice!!

  • how long did it stay in?!?

  • your daughter is gorgeous ! great video =)

  • what is the name of the song i loved it

  • She's a mini you.

  • @wildmartina keep the bad comments to yourslef and it still come out cute she got hair right what about you? mhhmmm aint that a nice questiion for you

  • This may have been done naturally, but it still looks dry and poofy. I would of just deep conditioned her hair and after blowing out her hair, I would of just done twists. It''s a more youthful look I think.

  • @WildMarTina I actually braided her hair up that night, and it was even more beautiful after taking the braids out. She had a softly defined braidout. I braided her hair up every night to keep her hair under control. Thanks for your feedback... and it wasn't dry at all. Her hair was extremely soft!

  • @WildMarTina Agreed! .. i wonder if you was going for the puffy look.

  • This is a awesome video. Im a daughter myself and my hair is like a low afro look that very hard to manage and its course. But anyhow for my first day of school im going to get my hair hot-comb and I just needs some tips before i do. ( i have got my hair straighten before but in a while )

  • Oh wow what a coincidence I did this to my daughters hair last night except I didn't band it i sectioned off and plaited it instead. Will try banding next time. I could have given her a nice braid out after actually..Lol. How often do you do this to your daughter's hair. She's a lil cutie btw....;0)

Just added you to my subscriptions..I'll be sure to watch through the rest of your vids.

  • @mizzy76 I don't straighten her hair often at all. In fact, this was the last time I straightened her hair, which makes it about 6 months since I applied heat to her hair. Right now she has two-strand twists.

  • @ShidaNatural that was the 1st time in about 3/4 months for my daughter too and I two strand twisted her hair afterwards...too many coincidences..Lol. If you get the time I'd love to see images of her hairstyles and her regimen. She has such beautiful hair.

  • Nice,i love it...

  • im going to do this and then flat iron so i dont have to blow dry this will make it last longer thanks so much but im on break now im not straightening my hair till december or jan...

  • hahahah that little girl is cute=]

  • OMG!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO POST!! I have 7yr old twins and they want their hair straightened, but I don't want to damage their hair so I told them they have to wait until they older just like mommy did. With this method I'll be able to get their hair as straight as possible or leave it a little puffy(MY FAVORITE)....I LOVE IT! THANKS :))

  • @Priscillaslove Please please please share you results!... and 7 year old twin girls!!! God bless you!

  • Why NO metal???? cuz all I have is ons with metal just a small section

  • @JOJOsJOJOsJOJOsJOJO Ponytail holders or headbands that have that metal clasp seems to pull the hair causing breakage.

  • i am probs like 1 year older than her im also very young i have long afro hair and i really need a way to keep it straight without straightning it. I have straightners (they only last a day hence that means i wud have to straigten it like everyday) i have tried texturiser it hardly works my mom is refusing to let me relax it in case like it all breaks and my hair gets really short. i reallllly need some thing any help? oh yeah and cutting it is not an option thanks xxx

  • Yu did a GREAT Job =] . wat Is Thee name of tht Sonqq ?

  • it wasnt straight. still poofy

  • @syntheticmunkey I didn't want it bone-straight.

  • ok how do u use the anotation.....and do u put the pixs in the video with your macbook to

  • hi im sofia and i was just wondering wat that cream stuff was the move was really amazing and u daughter is beautiful wat was the cream and would it be good on my hair. my hair is more curly than frizzy on top its wavy and the ends of my hair curl inways to u have any clue if it would be a good product in my hair . thanks would u be able to make more vidios . x :D :P

  • @TheSweetsofia123 Hi Sofia - That cream is from my hair care product line. It's called ShidaNatural's Moisturizing Cream, and it can be purchased from my website (see weblink descr. box). I think the cream will do well on your wavy/curly hair. It's very light in texture, yet extremely moisturizing. I twill not cause build up, nor will it weigh your hair down or make it greasy. I urge you to try it.

  • Im trying it tonite

  • your daughter looks like you :)

  • im knda new on youtube and i waz wondering how did you get the pics and the song in the intro of your youtube video also how did u get the capations like the 1 in the very beging of your video?????

  • @briannanadesuwa I use my MacBook for everything when I do my videos, and I get the captions by using the annotations options thru YouTube.

  • that buter would make ur hair well greesy :/

  • omg ur daughter is too cute!!

Hey i have a question, you seem like you know what ur doing so since i'm biracial (i'm half asian and half hispanic), would more heat damage my hair? I have hair sort of like african americans but it's not kinky at the top, it's more curly. The ends of my hair frizz out and poof out so yeah.

I was thinking of using that technique, is it worth it? Would it damage my biracial hair less?

    Thank you for your time!!

  • @XxxMysticalxRosexxX It wouldn't hurt to try this method. My motto is less heat is better, and you're preserving your hair strand by not applying frequent heat which puts you at a high risk for damaging your hair cuticle, which ultimately results in split ends, breakage, and dryness.

  • wow never new this method...tumbs up!!! Gosh....i have to let all my friends know this one....ones a again thanks so much for sharing...Stay blessed!

  • im going to try it on my hair tonite

  • @cdm0014 Let me know how you make out with this technique.

  • So cute. Reminds me of me as a little girl.

  • Sorry to be judgemental, I like the tutorial and all.. but shouldn't you be teaching your daughter to embrace what she looks like naturally (especially at such a young age)?

  • @amandajoyceisabella I think it is also important to show our daughters what our natural hair can do..It can be straighted, curly, wash and go's, and be in afros. Just because our hair is natural doesnt mean it has to be stuck in one look . It is so versatile! ~Blessings~

  • Hi! I just want to thank you for this video! I did this last night and the trick with the ponytail holders is amazing and it worked! I was able to get my roots very straight, not my ends because I desperately need a trim!

Anyway thank you so much and please don't stop making videos! :) I am DEFINITELY a fan!

  • I love this song! And you're daughter is gorgeous! May God keep her that way. :-)

  • were did youe get the cream from ??

  • i got hair like ima dude i go n\h

  • Comment removed

  • She is such a beautiful girl!

  • that hair is "flawless"

  • that was a cute look........what is that name of that song??

  • I appreciate the good info. Does the paddle brush have little balls on the ends or are the bristle tips smooth? Also, what brand of paddle brush is more effective? Thanx

  • Yes, the paddle brush has little tiny balls on the tips of the bristles, and they are smooth. I don't get any particular brand, just what I find at the drug store or something. I try not to got too cheap, like dollar store quality.

  • thaT was soo cute! and this video was heLpfuL. :)

-hey just wondering (because im naturaL too yaay lol)...wen the ends need to be trimmed, do you fLat iron it or get it professionally done?? thnx.

  • Since I wear my hair curly, in its natural state, I never flat iron my hair before trimming cuz I know too much will be cut when it gets curly again & shrinks up. There are 2 ways I trim my hair. 1) When I've put my hair in 2-strand twists, I clip the ends while the twists are in, 2) When I wear hair in a wash & go, I trim each single defined curl.. one curl at a time. I like trimming it this way when I want to create shape to my style.

  • thank you! =)

  • So lovely. So cute. Magic fingers!

  • whats the song called

  • Your daughter is the cutest little lady. You are teaching so many sisters how to care for their children's hair! Great Job Shida! God BLess!!

  • her hair is of the chains........ i find that when i wash my hair it is so hard and it looks really short, but the minute i put softe in my hair it makes such a difference

  • hi i was just wondering wat this song was called cause its really nice reply to me if u can thnx by the way i love this vid its really good

  • The song is called "Beautiful Girl" by Trinitee 5:7

  • thnx i was wondering wat it was i really like ur video its gr8

  • Thanks, glad u enjoyed it.

  • its ok

  • GREAT job, Shida! It's nice to see a mother take the time and nourish her daughter's hair rather than slap some chemicals in it and expect it to be healthy. Beautiful!!

  • Yea, I'm hoping her hair reaches her hips by the time she's in High School.

  • I luv this video, i've learned something new everytime i've watched one of your videos, really appreciate it....

  • Now every mother should incorporate this technique for their daughters to maintain longer, stronger hair. Loved it, and yes she's such a beautiful little girl.

  • WOW, this is an awesome video. I think every mother should be doing this with her daughters hair. One if neice's is not even 2 yet and she has a perm, so heartbreaking.

  • OMG, a relaxer at the age of 2! WOW!!!

  • Way to go in getting creative with no-heat styling!

  • lawd. thats ur lil twin

  • i like this song. she's cute.

  • I love the song and love your lil one's hair..great job!

  • Your daughter is such a cutie pie. God bless her! Side note: Im loving this song!

  • Thanks, and I love ur YT name!

  • Why thank you Shida Estrellita means little star in Spanish and Bacio means kiss in Italian :)

  • This looks great! Very good 5 stars! I've never used a blow dryer, flat iron or pressing comb on my girls, I'm hoping to hold out a little longer. This will be a good first option. I'm scared they might like the stretched look too much. LOL!

  • I know what you mean. I don't want her to get too used to it either. lol

  • Very cute!

  • Great video!! I'll do this when my daughter grows some hair on her head..lol... Thanks :-)

  • you make blowdrying look so easy...

Love the results though. Hair looks so moisterized.

  • @FhrizzBall Blowdrying really wasn't that hard, and her hair is very, very moisturized. Love ur YT name, btw.. lol

  • she is beautiful...like my grandma would say "you spit her out" LOL she looks just like you girl! A true blessing

  • @StarryEyedDreB Yea, that's my mini me.. lol

  • your daughter is your twin! so lovely! very well behaved.....

  • my blow dryer broke so last week i banded my hair over night to dry straight so i could do my twists. i just used shea butter and my gosh my hair came out as if i lightly flat-ironed it. THE ONLY THING though is that my ends were very dry. thanks for sharing this vid.

  • another great one shida! thanks!

  • Excellent technique! I will have to try this method with my five year old oppose to the flat irons. Thx for sharing!

  • @kshel104 Let me know how you make out with this technique on ur 5 yr old.

  • I sure will. She has been asking me to straighten her hair lately.

  • I tried it and it worked pretty well, but I still used a flat iron on low heat to smooth her hair out. The paddle brush really helped out!

  • Beautiful! And she def is your twin : ) Wish I knew all this about natural hair 9 years ago, I would have never permed my dau hair. And she HATES the creamy crack

  • @naturaldiva71 That's good. My daughter never wants a perm either. I hope she doesn't change her mind when she starts doing her own hair.

  • nice 5/5.

  • @shawnapplewhite Thank you son.. lol. Luv u

  • She had some beautyful hair and it came out real good.

  • You know what, I am natural and I just started doing my own hair like this. Now that I've seen this, I know that it's okay. Many props to you for being such an outstanding mother. Some children will never know this kind of love and care. God bless you both!

  • @Banksparty4 Aww.. that's so nice of you.

  • Beautiful!

  • This is just what i needed im going to try this method. Thanks Shida, you're the best!

  • I'm going to use this technique on my daughters hair. She has very long & curly hair and I refuse to flat iron or press it so this will be a great alternative for me. Thanks for the great video!

  • Great video, your daughter is beautiful and I love the music.

  • Great i used to band my wet hair when i was relaxed to get waves. I might try it again to see what the outcome will be!

  • She is so beautiful ! I wish I knew this method for my daughters hair 23 and 18 years ago ! LoL Peace and God's Favour to you and your babygirl!

  • Oh she is so cute and her hair looks wonderful. i love the song you played. God Bless:)

  • Her hair is so healthy its gorgeous!

  • Your daughter is adorable. Love the banding method for stretching. Great video!

Question: What type/brand of paddle brush would you recommend?

  • This method of stretching the hair is really great, especially if you're one that tries to use less heat as possible. My daughter's hair strands are very fine, and she can't take a lot of heat from a flat iron or hot comb. I think I got my paddle from a drug store. I don't even think it has a brand name on it.

  • Oh, she's so adorable. She looks just like her mommy. Her hair was beautiful in the end. And the combing was so careful and gentle. If only more girls got that kind of tlc for their hair...

  • I know right. I wish I got that kind of TLC when I was a little girl.

  • First let me start by saying....YOUR DAUGHTER IS SUPER BEAUTIFUL!

then let me say this, I like the look but I wouldn't call this straight hair. Fully stretched yes but not straightened.

    Otherwise....she looks soo cute :o)

  • I would agree that her hair is more so "stretched" than "straight". Did you read the description box? That's why I mention the word "stretched" in the description box. Maybe, I'll change the title to Straightening/Stretching. Thanks for commenting. :-)

  • She is so pretty and her hair looks so healthy. I'm working on getting my sister to go natural w/ her daughters hair...It's hard but I'm breaking her down. lol

  • Very nice!

  • Very nice , and smooth results. Lil Shida looks to be pleased. Do you ever style your daughters hair in a style she doesnt care for, or does she have the deciding vote 10% of the time? Just curious because my daughter and I have that conflict from time to time.

    Thanks for sharing.

P.S I saw your hair bangin in the background.

    ~keep it real

    Africanexport

  • I try to make her happy when I style her hair. She's really not that hard to please. What surprises me the most is that she loves being natural, and has no desire to get a relaxer... THANK YOU GOD! She says she likes having natural hair cuz she can wear her hair curly. I hope she keeps the same attitude when she starts doing her hair herself.

  • Thats great. I think that our daughters will have a valuabe knowledge anda understanding of their hair , that not all women will get to know, or experience. Praide God for the information and the love that is shared on what we know it to be, video networking site; but double as a portal to share. What is shared is up to the individual.! Well I have rambled.

    Be well

    ~keep it real

  • Love this style, my mom use to do this style for me when i was younger and sometimes i still do this to my ponytail

  • actually sometimes this is how i dry my hair to a slight wave look

  • I actually braided her hair last nite (8 in the back, and 2 for the 2 front ponytails), and she wore her hair in a stretched braidout today. It came out beautifully! I liked her 2nd day hair better than her 1st day.

  • Naturally Beautiful.

    *Peace*

  • what's the name of this song?

  • I was just wondering the same thing lol

  • I think it's Trinity 5:7 but I don't know the name of the song : )

    ~Destini~

  • The song is by Trinitee 5:7, and it's called, "Beautiful Girl"

  • thank you much and god Bless :)

    ~Destini~

  • Love, Love, Love That Song!

  • I love that song. Your daughter looks like you. She seems to be a little lady. No squirming while you did her hair. My daughter is an adult now but she was the same way. Beautiful daughter and mother. Have a blessed week and happy growing.

  • She is beautiful and her hair turned out very nice!!! Will definitely try this method in the future. Thanks

  • I'm going to try this, my goal this year is NO HEAT!

Your daughter is a lil you, to cute.

    Great results.

  • Cute.

  • I am so in love with the song. Almost makes me wish I had a daughter just so I can play this song for her over and over again.

Almost, I have enough trouble managing my own hair. Great job!

  • Great technique! Is this Trinity 57 singing?
