I got my first billfold at Lake side 37 years ago I guess it has been....and I still have it to this day....I have many fond memories of my parents taking me there as a child.
Wow, amazing video and thanks for posting. I have some great childhood memories at Lakeside. We would head up from Henry County a lot during the summer. I had forgotten about the slide! The Shooting Star was a wicked roller coaster and I still remember how it jerked on the last turn heading back to the finish line.

Very cool to see the video. I worked at the park from 1963 to 1974, ran every ride that is pictured at one time or another. Some strong memories of "3 bucket days" running the octopus and later the spider. Thanks!
Thanks for the info. I always heard a story that a little girl got bitten by a copperhead while riding the merry-go-round. It was living in the wood. I'm pretty sure that's an urban legend!
Yeah, a guy was tragically killed mowing under the tracks, but the main reason Lakeside closed was due to the flood in '86 and the crowds were much smaller than in it's heyday. Thanks for the video.
OMG, I used to go here during the 70's when I was a child - this has brought back so many memories. I forgot all about the space ride!! :)

there was a guy using a weedeater under the tracts and was standing up in the path and didn't hear the roller coaster coming....
