When you boil potatoes make sure the potatoes have a little resistance in them when you stick a knife in them otherwise they will not have the right texture. I you boil too much you will have pasty potatoes.
Bill - get yourself a potato ricer. They aren't that expensive and you can cut a couple of steps, and you'll love the results! If you get a ricer, you don't need to peel your potatoes, because the skin gets trapped in the ricer. Also, I would suggest cutting the potatoes a little bigger. Also, the great thing about having a ricer: no lumps!!! The potato squeezes thru the ricer lump free!!!
Also, another great tip: roast a bulb of garlic and add the garlic to your potatoes.
I love cooking shows! Sometimes I find their tips to be a real life saver and I also find learning from my mistakes to be educational in and of themselves.
hi sweetie , i soak my peeled potatos for 2 hrs in water and rinse n drain 3 times during that time and you will have the most fluffy starch free potatos in your life, they are so fluffy and yummy ima mom of giant kids so they eat em like ten pd bag at dinner time and then you can make potato pancakes the next day with left overs and wow those are good damm i should do some cooking vids i love to cook your so sweet bill love ya
Oh hun, you need more butter than that!! LOL My husband is a meat and potatoes man and I make these at least twice a week, if not more!! I use about half a cup of butter for the size pot you were making. Add your potatoes then the water :o). Wanna snaz em up? Add cheddar cheese with the butter or even bacon bits and chives. Add a tbsp or so of minced garlic to the boiling water with the potatoes for garlic mashed, YUM!!
Ok, I am a little horrified about the candles and find it my responsibility as a chandler to speak up. Those candles are Votives. They are intended to be contained when they are burned.(one candle per container and it should fit kinda snug) If you want a candle that is crafted not to use in a container, you should purchase a pillar candle.....sorry..I hope this doesn't sound anyway other than it is intended...to inform...with love. YesCandles
I make them WAY easier and they taste HELLA yummy. Just microwave the potatoes in plastic wrap for like 4-5 minutes per potato, then just mash em up with butter and milk. Yes leave the skins on! It tastes awesome! But yes! CLEAN THE POTATOES haha
I think you have found a niche. like cooking for not so good cookers or mmmmamalikey's cooking basics with attitude!!! I love the concept. Great job!!!!
Agh, I love your show. I make vegan versions of things you cook and they come out great. The fact that your show isn't all "high tech" helps a lot, too. It doesn't feel so overwhelming. Keep up the good work.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmamalikey lol Great cooking videos, ppl can learn more about cooking from u! You seem to have enough knowledge to be a home economics - cooking teacher! ;) 5/5 thumbs up!
Well, I guess maybe I'm the only one. :( Oh, well...I know how and I've shown the world. And heye, there are 18 year olds who have just moved out and divorcees who don't even know how to boil water... it might help them! :)
