Who says a 3lap is a world record? A world record is the fastest known time. And since almost all good players fight for fastest lap world records, this is a WR or 3laps aren't WR as well.

Well, the shroom starts at 0:22 and ends at 0:25 (almost 26) so the shroom lasts nearly 4 seconds.

Well, don't rely on YouTube player's time indicator, it's not accurate at all. Actually I just watched frame-by-frame how long a mushroom lasts while preparing the new rMC WR (I testes with 2 different shrooms), it lasted 45 and 46 frames (at 30 fps), the time were 1,502 & 1,565 sec, and 1,535 according to the exact framerate conversion.

So, a mushrooms lasts nearly 1,530 second.

And why would nintendo make shrooms of different lengths when just milliseconds can make a huge difference?

Lol you know at the end he used 2 shrooms, not only 1.

1 frame is nothing, it's because you can't exactly determine the beginning of the shroom effect and its end (the "fire boost" animation fades for like 1-2 frames).
