No Key arena is almost 15 years old. It was rebuilt and opened in early 95. Furthermore it had basicly no club suites or any money making abilities. Thats why they needed a new arena. Also Bennett TRIED TWO DIFFERENT TIMES TO GET AN ARENA BUILT AND BOTH TIMES WAS TOLD NO. Oklahoma City offered everything that seattle didn't....hence THEY MOVED. GET OVER IT!!!

the nba even stated that unless they get a bigger arena then there will be no basketball in seattle.
they were thinking of moving the sonics to the Everett event center which is like twice as big as the key arena but it would be also twice as hard for many fans to get there.
