I watched this film and yes I too thought KUBRICK. But then, 'you just pissed on a gypsy in the middle of nowhere' surely has to be THE greatest line in the history of cinema.
@alienhell663 In the actual film? Then it's the final section of 'The Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla' from the 'Ring' Cycle of operas by Richard Wagner (1813-1883). Other fantastic music used in the film includes the 'Alpine Symphony' by Richard Strauss.
ive no seen the film but have read one of his books. instead of giving him solitary (as a non-conformist), they should have banged him up with ian brady and peter sutcliffe. he could then have paid back his dues to society.
It's a good film, but there's things that Bronson did in real life, that would have made far better footage for the film. Like attacks on governors, & his famous rooftop protests.
Totally agreed! The weird clown face stage performances could have been totally cut in order to allow more time for them to build his notorious reputation as the most famous prisoner. I was disappointed about that :(
@Konstanz2233 They were trying to show you who he is a person, everyone knows how violent he is not many people know what he is like as a person. Least that is what I got from the film.
tom hardy should be nominated for a oscar hell he should win it but instead they will just give it to george clooney for up in the air which there have been what a million movies and roles like that before

If you want to see Bronson on the floor in 5 seconds, then yeah.
Tyson was an animal, when that bloke was in his prime, 21 years old, he was the best fighter the world has ever seen, imagine him bare knuckle? the guy has the hardest punch ever of any pr boxer. Fuck Muhammed Ali, he would have killed Ali, and he would also have killed Bronson
i agree that he'd batter bronson... i gott acontest some of what you said- firstly bare knuckle, hands unwrapped, if tyson punched full strength he'd have broken his hands. Secondly, its hard to say he was the greatest fighter ever. Incredible, yes, but if you compare him to Sugar Ray Robinson, the real greatest of all time (200 pro fights, 175 wins, 109 KOs) or even some of those golden era heavyweights, tyson can be questioned slightly, especially due to the poor caliber of his opponents.
your comparing tyson, a trained fighter with access to trainers, supplements, gyms etc.. to bronson a con with access to none of those. yet bronson still managed to rack up charge after charge for seriously injuring armed prison staff with nothin but his hands. i think theyr both are animals with some character.. but give bronson the same tools as tyson in his prime.. id love to see that.
Ali was fighting fighters of a complete different calibre to Tyson and beating them of course. Some guys who were considered animlas such as Frazier, Liston and Foreman so how on earth in your wildest dreams you can say he would have killed Ali is pure fantasy and written by your own preference .Ali is considered one of the best sportsmen of all time and he had strength , agility and most of all intelligence when fighting.Tyson V Ali is very debatable
Saw this tonight...Wow...stunning visuals....Kubrick is my favorite director, and I think he would have given this film a nod of approval...The soundtrack was perfectly balanced and unique...I will buy this on dvd...perhaps blu-ray for the colors

Our politicians put in expenses claims for thousands of pounds out of the public purse and no punishment is rarely dealt out. A low profile one might lose their job as an example and to satisfy the public whilst the higher profile ones cover each others backsides and justify each other with their clever public education talk
Tom Hardy is sooo under rated, I hope people sit up and take notice after this. He's a real character actor, transforming his body to get into the role. He's just as good as Christian Bale, maybe better come to think about it.
@Fangbanger88 I have to salute this man with allegiance, this dude , MAKES you convinced , that he is actually the real Bronson. Seriously the movie is Brutal to the maximum. This makes Clockwork Orange look like dennis the mennis
I was an extra in this film and Tom Hardy was so funny in-between scenes. It was a pleasure to work with the cast and crew. Great food and we got paid as well. ' I'm gonna make you Fackin laugh, you cant' Cheers Tom.
Tom Hardy's performance is brilliant! Hopefully the movie will inspire people to look into the true injustice done to this man.......the movie is just that-a movie. Look up the facts & you will be horrifed how one man has wrongly been in prison for 35yrs - 30 of them in solitary! He has never killed or raped a single person....his violent crimes have been in prison against brutal guards or inmates looking to make a name for themselves.
LMFAO in the states? it will get rid of that crappy steriotype they put us with, being all posh and loving tea lol let me know how it goes down in US pleez will be interesting lol
Well it´s has the same sort of style and wacky characters like Clockwork, but i never felt morally challenged with Bronson. And thats what made clockwork Orange for me that i was guilty of following a rapist as a protagonist! Still very entertaining movie!
Absolutely love this film. A modern Clockwork Orange? I'd say so. In fact I found this film more enjoyable than the Kubrick classic. Seriously, you lot need to see it.
I know - it sounds like a big thing to say. It won't be as influential of course. But I feel that the film is a lot more accessible and far more enjoyable to watch. Not everyone will agree it's better. In fact I can wager a good deal of people won't. But it is a class film and I think a lot of us can agree on that.
Tom Hardy gives a performance worthy of an Oscar in this! Hes absolutely superb as Bronson. He gets the character spot on and be proud of his achievement. He portarys him as the animal, the criminal and indeed the celebrity that he is with amazing style and charisma. Hes got Bronson down to perfection! He makes this film what it is!
well charlie bronson is 55 years old and hasnt been in a fight for 9 years...so maybe yeah :S but you still cant deny in his heyday bronson was a fucking lunatic and an awesome fighter.
just watched the film , bronson fukin nutter , class, tom hardy best newcoming british actor since ewan macgregor in trainspotting, tom was amazing in the take , and is even better in bronson
Seen this last nite, Tom Hardy is an unbelievable talented actor, its uncanny how alike he is to the real Bronson, he did 2500 pushups everyday for five weeks as part of his physical training for the role, not bad eh?lol.
Tom Hardy is a good actor and did a great performance but i thought the movie could of been a lot better,I just thought it was a bit wierd to be honest,The bit where he gets out for month was shit!
How dare you say it runs out of steam...... This is England's best movie of the decade. And on second thoughts, likening it to Kubrick, this is unique and genius, nothing like what's been done before. (aimed at the 'more info' by the mail)..
i thought u was talking about the film 'this is england' for a second then, i was thinking i swear he never mentioned that in more info :S haha. but ur right i loved this film right to the end when he decides that he just isnt meant to be a good boy and takes the gay arty bloke hostage is fuckin brilliant lol or fackin brilliant as charlie would say
he wanted to be famous. he is famous, he earned the title Britain's Most Violent Prisoner. I hope he thinks it was worth throwing his life away in a cell. I say put him in a hospital where he will be treated fairly so he can regain some sanity then let him out. KEEPING HIM LOCKED IN A CELL FOR 30 YEARS WITHOUT SEEING ANYBODY BUT A PRISON GUARD IS ENOUGH TO DRIVE YOU CRAZY!!! LET HIM INTO A HOSPITAL!!!
they did put him into a hospital and the time he spent in there was the worst time of his life and he was crying and even throttled a warden to get back to normal prison which he loved
0:49 is the funniest part of the film in my opinion. He just randomly decks a nurse. But I reckon in real life the nurse wouldn't have got up so quick. Bronson's a big man, & would have a very hard punch.
The book is 100% better than the film. It's also a lot funnier than the film. My favourite part in the book is when whilst in prison Bronson picks up a tea urn, & it burns him, so he smashes it on the back of a nearby random con's head, who happens to be an IRA terrorist. Excellent read!
yes. i have this on DVD and there is an audio interview with Charlie on the dvd. he couldn't be in the film as he is in an upright standing cage. he also spent a lot of time with Tom and said nobody else could have played him. Really worth watching.

he wanted to be famous. he is famous, he earned the title Britain's Most Violent Prisoner.

Awesome actor! I really think he's one of the best in the UK. A young Daniel Day Lewis maybe?

0:49 is the funniest part of the film in my opinion. He just randomly decks a nurse. But I reckon in real life the nurse wouldn't have got up so quick. Bronson's a big man, & would have a very hard punch.

The book is way better than the film. The film adds parts that never happened.

The book is 100% better than the film. It's also a lot funnier than the film. My favourite part in the book is when whilst in prison Bronson picks up a tea urn, & it burns him, so he smashes it on the back of a nearby random con's head, who happens to be an IRA terrorist. Excellent read!

like what? im really interested in how accurate the film is... was he ever actually in that cage you see him in in the end?
yibbell 2 years ago
yes he was.
read his book. it's fucking shocking.
the reason they put him in that acge is to prevent him from attacking others.
it's fucking awful.
cant say i enjoyed the film that much. it was ok.

yes. i have this on DVD and there is an audio interview with Charlie on the dvd. he couldn't be in the film as he is in an upright standing cage. he also spent a lot of time with Tom and said nobody else could have played him. Really worth watching.
