Omg all of you are wron g the dont just sell shose the sell clothes and pets and cell fones and colone and all that stuff caus its the 2nd biggest store in oregon so shut the hell up
Youre a fucking nut job. Your anti capitalisms rants only says you cant stand other people having thing you dont. You must have been that kid on the play ground always crying because someone else had a toy you wanted. Get off your ass and work hard then maybe you can get appreciate what you earn, instead of covenanting others success.
You're wrong. There is nothing in this mall that I want. There is nothing in this mall that anyone needs. The advertising industry ("organized deceit" as Noam Chomsky calls it) has made people believe they need things they don't need. Incidentally, no one who lives near the mall shops at it because they all know that there are no bargains at this stupid mall, despite the fact that it claims to be an outlet mall.
@patalackranch if you dont like people from woodburn The go to fuckin hell you fucking bastard woodburn is life and and if you lived in woodburn you would like it.so get off woodburns videos
The idea that anyone "needs" anything from these malls is a fabrication of the mall "industry". Over priced, poor quality goods produced to get some kid to spend a lot of money for the right logo. When I was growing up in Woodburn, most of the stores where single owner, merchants who lived in town. Now, Wal Mart, the mall, and all of the greasy fast food joints that line I5 are franchised and owned by groups who probably couldn't tell you where Woodburn is, or pronounce Oregon correctly.
At one time Oregon (Oregonians) prided its self in not following the way of the bucks by opposing the development schemes from out of state companies, ie. California. There are companies from other states as well, but the typical push to develop housing and "consumerism" in Oregon came from down south. The resistance to this was real, and people took a real stand against it, all the way to the Governor, remember the Zig Zag river condominium fiasco ?
Woodburn, like Bend and Newport, have suffered at the hands of the Mall developers.
The land the Woodburn mall sits on was at one time a beautiful strawberry field. The family that was tricked into selling the land at "market value" only got a small road named after them. The real money value has gone out of state to an uncareing developer. The old addage "Don't Californicate Oregon" has been forgotten for the sake of a few bucks. The result is a community gets low wage jobs, and no future.
The problem was when all the californian (transplants) started moving up here. And when they got here, they wanted the same stuff they had down there. so They brought it up with them. Now we're stuck with it. Sometimes i really can't stand them. They move up here, then bitch about everything, especially the way we (pure Oregonians) run OUR state. And they're everywhere too. I'm the only one on my street that was born and raised in Oregon. The rest are from Cali.
Ironic that you should say that, I was just talking to one of my neighbors about the very same thing. We have three new families in our neighborhood this past year, all from out of state. I don't really care where they come from, but as you point out, the "we want what we had back home" idea is what kills the real Oregon spirit. The one guy I can't stand, is from Boston, we don't have good pizza, we don't have pro baseball etc etc etc.
Part 2 If they move here and they want to have "their" favorite foods, or cars or slothes or whatever, that's fine, but what they don't seem to respect is the way things have been here for years. The Boston boy doesn't like the fact my Son went deer hunting last year and got a buck, or we go goose hunting, or we cut our Christmas tree from up in the woods. Fact is, Oregon is Oregon, not California, or Boston, or anywhere else. I agree with you my Brother, I can't stand those people either.
