I was really looking for a royal fur tutorial.I dont know why it took so long to find one here.I have done some basic fur attachment to my animal character.I did use direction length and other stuff to get it in to shape but some things are getting messed up and am not sure which rendering I need to use to make it look real .I did try Maya software but I feel it s till needs something more.Am a bit confused about baking attributes and those map width. If I could mail u?
Can you add fur onto a character with animation already on it? I followed this tutorial and the rig no longer moves with the animation only the eyes and controls follow the animation
Wonderful video as always. Now the big challenge is to use Maya hair, and make a side parting. I always wanted a quick way of doing a comb over. This would be a video that none of the "big boys" like Digital Tutors have managed to do.
@NoFaithNoPain Perhaps I should...The trouble with "hair" is that there is a large bed of knowledge needed to complete the process. The topic is easily a three part series of about 45 minutes per episode so I know why most people shy away from the topic of hair. In the near future, I plan on producing some "In-Depth" training DVDs with industry pro's so this may be perfect for starting that new venture. But, if you need, check the Autodesk Manuals for good hair stuff! Cheers!
@deepfriedectoplasm Thanks for the reply. I did the tutorials and did the Digital tutors stff. Its all good stuff, but nobody does the all - important side parting. I think a field applied would do it but not sure.
@NoFaithNoPain Actually it's a dynamic curve attractor. Essentially you make a curve in the shape you need and assign it to to the hair to act as an attractor. It sort of helps to shape the hair and add some dynamics to the overall motion. It can be a bit tricky to work with and it takes a while to set up and test out. Anyway, it's not that hard to do, just time consuming.
@deepfriedectoplasm Yes, I tried that method, the effect is always "Barbie Doll" and totally rigid, If you loosen it up then it does not work either :( Thats why I will be trying the feild idea when I get half a chance.
Yeah i can watch your other videos on iphone..just not this one ....you are right it doesnt support flash....dont worry it's not a big deal ..I will watch it from pc ......keep the good 1 up ....thnxs for all.......
@LXgomes I'm not quite sure why it won't play on the iPhone. Can you view my other tutorials on your iPhone? I'll look at my settings but as far as I know there's not really an option that is controlled by me to enable viewing on mobile devices. It may be a You-Tube issue, but I'll check into it ASAP. Sorry for the moment...Stay tuned an I'll try and find an answer. Stu

@1realista1 Yes, make sure you go to the plug-in manager and check the "fur.bundle" (Maya 2011) and you should be good to go! Let me know.
