@AcousticoV Well, it seems the record company didn't consider her 'marketable' because she's heavy and openly lesbian. The party line was that she left voluntarily, but she subsequently sued and the matter was settled out of court. Apparently, being a brilliant songwriter and musician isn't all that important in the music world these days.

@abaxteria Her departure wasn't the doing of the record label and it wasn't because she is lesbian. There were personality conflicts in the band, from what I understand. Also, Kristan Hall was not comfortable with a heavy touring schedule.
It is too bad because she was such an asset. She wrote most of "Twice the Speed of Life."

Kristen Hall had been touring for close to 20 years and knew exactly what she was getting into when she decided with the others to form a mass market supergroup. Press releases rarely contain the truth about unpleasant situations. PR is about damage containment and the truth usually doesn't come out until much later -- often as the result of lawsuits.
