Enya has done various live performances and many with out layering, and she sounds exactly the same as she does on CD... that my dear friends is a talent... current singers don't have it, they can't do proper live performances away from their sound systems and computers. I truly enjoy her music but I can't respect her as a performer.

The quality of this video is not even possible to tell whether or not she is lip syncing or not. I have watched one of her live shows, and she is singing on top of the recording, with real instruments and singers. Her voice was wavering. I can't hear any of that, but how can you say her voice isn't real when you see the instruments being played and you still can't tell whether they're real or not? I've heard that Enya does want to go on tour, but it would be a very large job, since Enya's voice is layered, it would take a choir (and because no-body has the same voice, it won't sound the same) and of course an entire orchestra and band.

Enya is a clown herself. What is a clown anyway? A clown is a person who hides the truth from a crowd of people. Clowns paint smiles on their faces so they don't have to feel happy. Enya sings fairly well on a studio album but with the help of dubbing and computer wizardry, she can sound angelic. With tons of make up and more computer wizardry, she looks angelic. We all know she's a ordinary woman who has found a way to put people in a trance. She's nothing more than an illusionist.

i hate when people say she freakin fakes things. she doesnt for christ sakes. she was voted the worlds best singer and she has a split vocals. she actually sounds like that and she doesnt lip sync.

I think we can enjoy her music "Live" if she actually made it so. I mean her sister Moya REALLY sings live and she has a similar voice like Enya's so i'm a bit puzzled why she doesn't put effort into singing live more often.
As much as i love Enya, her completely faking 80% of her "live" performances is making me question my choices. = (

it's really very hard to do live performances especially in enya's case... i mean u cnt replicate/perform all the songs "live" without the machine...but i love enya as well, what an angelic voice!

It is not playback, lip syncing, computer dubbing or whatever the hell you want to call it. Unlike most singers you hear on CD and radio who sound amazing and suck live, Enya can actually perform with her voice not needing so much editing. Did you ever think that maybe some people can actually sing and everything doesn't have to be a great big lie? Enya, you rock. Haters can shut up.

Dude you need to check her own comments where she says she uses 80-500 pre recordings of her own voice when singing. She multilayers it less for performances but you can still be gauranteed if it sounds similar to her albums she is using at least 50 extra versions of herself as backing vocals.
Really, get with the times. This argument was settled a decade ago! The last time she sung live, unaided was the early 80's with her start up group.

Agreed. It's VERY well known that Enya lip syncs all of her "live" performances. I love Enya's music, but it's sort of a rip to call these performances "live." Cue up one of her songs, then watch a "live" video... it's identical. I'd rather hear subtle live nuances even if it's over her other recorded and layered voices.

@shazammy & vuxfeon: You're both WRONG! Listen to her live performance of "Book of Days". There's a slight slip up in the 1st line. Yeah, it's live! In another live performance when she sings "Sumiregusa" she's omitted the middle vocal break. In her performance for the pope, etc. If you have the ears you can hear the differences. Have your hearing checked & quit smoking that stuff. It distorts your senses.

Enya is a clown herself. What is a clown anyway? A clown is a person who hides the truth from a crowd of people. Clowns paint smiles on their faces so they don't have to feel happy. Enya sings fairly well on a studio album but with the help of dubbing and computer wizardry, she can sound angelic. With tons of make up and more computer wizardry, she looks angelic. We all know she's a ordinary woman who has found a way to put people in a trance. She's nothing more than an illusionist.

Well its live insofar as she is actually singing at the same time there. But the sound you are hearing is also 80-500 pre-recordings of her own voice layered together. She changes it depending on the song and performace but she has done sung in her bare voice for performances in over 20 years.
She admits to this.

No. Enya actually does lip sync her live performances. It kind of sucks, but what can you do? She's an amazing singer... but really only a studio artist. This is also why she doesn't tour.

It is totally lip synced, thanks for telling it how it is lol, I don't know why people don't want to believe that... She is a very talented song writer, but she obviously doesn't have a voice without her studio technology. She looks so silly lip syncing - I just can't take her seriously. She does compose great songs though.
If you want to hear pure talent - especially in live performances, listen to Loreena Mckennitt...
