  • Hm, I've pretty much built my htpc with xbmc live on it w/ ir remote and everything. I never got into tv cards and stuff. Can someone enlighten me about any new cards i could add on my pci slots for more awesomeness? I got no cable btw lol

  • I'm probably going to build an HTPC soon...thanks for the vid...this just further emphasizes my decision in this case...the SATA cable trick was great too...this is why it's good to watch people's videos constantly to find new tricks out there!

    2 thumbs up!

  • thanks a lot man, you made my mind over 10+ HTPC cases , but you didn't post the LED pic .

can you do it? because i can't find it anywhere !

  • thanks a lot man, you made my mind over 10+ HTPC cases .

  • How did you go about hooking up your harmony remote to the HTPC? I'm wanting to do that with my harmony 1100, Did you have to have your remote 'learn' all the IR signals?

  • hahaha. thanks for making the video

  • WOOT

I have to try that twisting Sata cable thing

    NICE VID!!!

  • Nice trick with the S-ATA cable.

    Btw. the RAM.

Won't it perform better if put in slot 1 + 3? To activate Dual Channel...

  • Yeah, I don't have this build anymore but I would have put it in the "A" slots for dual channel.

  • one question....

must you be used the boxed cooler or can you change it for an greater cooler ?

    I hope it now.

my favorit is an Zalmann 9500 AT...but i don't know,if i have enough space between cpu cooler and the 80x80 Sidecooler...you know ?

  • Yeah, I know. But unfortunately it's hard for me to say.

I could do some measurements, maybe in the weekend? You must remember that the chassis isn't very tall, so any fan on CPU-cooler would be stuck in the top of the cabinet.

But I'll see what I can do.

  • Oh, sorry, didn't see that Zalmann 9500 AT has side-mounted fans.

Ok, so the height and the 80mm fans is the issue.

    I'll check it out!

  • @nordemoniac no the colours match, not 1 and 3.

  • oh sweet, twisty-SATA cables thats so cool I should try that lol. nice build!

  • yeah it's like curly fries :)

  • You should probably use your own thermal paste. The ones that come with the processor is trash. Try looking into Arctic Silver 5 or TX-2 for better heat transfer. Great video and the quality is great. What kind of camera are you using?

  • Thanks for the comment, yeah I thought about using AS5 but I looked at the heat sink and it already had it on there and I didn't worry about it. Its only a 45W processor and load has never been over 50C... so I'm good.

  • Sorry, camera is Canon Vixia HG20

  • Nice. The quality is great. Sounds great that the stock thermal paste is actually working well.

  • Cute dog btw at 1:57

  • Thanks... she's my best bud.

  • Nice 5/5

  • great 5/5

  • thanks!

  • build a HTPC in less than 3 min. great job 5/5

    Cheers

  • yeah... i would suggest laying off the crack in order to do it that fast, but it works if you're in a time crunch :)

  • yep, can't do crack and build anything. Personally I've had my fun when I was a kid, but know straight as an arrow! And I feel good, my heads a little whacky though. lol
