  • I love how Shadow vessels crumple up, like how insects die.

  • Love those Vree battlesaucers. It always breaks my heart to see Minbari cruisers get cut up though. The ships are so big, you have to imagine the crews must be large too...

  • I'm watching the whole series again and am only a few episodes away from this one. Loved this show. It had some of the best space battle scenes ever.

  • God what a great show

  • Who doesn't get savage glee at the Narn cruiser getting some pay back for what the Shadows helped to do to the Narns?

  • @ScreamingTc Certainly not me. Seeing the Narn Cruiser aiding Sheridan's forces brought a smile to my face. It made me wonder if there were a few other Narn warships in the fight? (not too many I'd imagine as only a small fraction of the Narn's warships survived their war with the Centauri).

  • I can't help but wonder which Alliance members discreetly stayed behind after the battle to scoop up some of that sweet (albeit damaged) Shadow tech for study...

  • @Vistico93 If Sheridan was smart, he'd snag up some of that shadow tech for study to find out possible weaknesses and maybe work to incorporate some of it into his own forces as the Shadows may have had tech that even the Vorlons didn't have.

  • @girlgarde As some of the scenes seem to imply, when a Shadow vessel dies it starts to break down eventually just disintegrating entirely.

  • @Fbueller129 Crap, you're right...... The Shadows probably rigged their ships to be like that so their tech didn't fall into enemy hands. Still, if Sheridan could get his hands on a disabled Shadow Vessel, he could still possibly get Shadow tech from it, just making a possible observation is all......

  • Note at 1:06 when Franklin slams into the doorway... the entire doorway flexes like a piece of hard, molded plastic. Gotta love those sets.

  • Well, Star Trek had fighters. For like, one episode of DS9.

I like this episode because it's one of those times where the Narn get to give the Shadows some loving back. Always nice to see the Narn not getting the crap kicked out of them in a fight.

  • Awesomeness! They don't make battles like these anymore. Especially the cool soundtrack.

  • nasa and the others will never create such awesome ships and weapons... that job's waiting for some multi-billionaires with special taste in life...

  • it gets hot at 1:30.. then at 1:50... :PPP

  • awesome vid but i think the opening volley from the alliance fleet is missing

  • @werdorino

Yes, that's right. Now that you've noticed it, there was also a nice fight scene in this episode between the White Star commanded by Ivanova and a small Shadow fighter. Maybe I'll put this up, too.

  • thank you for posting the actual clip and not some vid with lame music in it.

  • @silaku

Thanks for your comment, you're welcome.

I've noticed that there aren't many Babylon 5 battle-vids here on Youtube with the original sound in it. Well, I know B5 isn't all about battles, but they kicked ass anyway ;)

  • @StarTrekMarco Oh I don't know, it was the battles that first attracted me to Babylon 5. Star Trek ones had always been kind of boring due to the limitations of technology, and the fact that the ships just weren't interesting (to me). Babylon 5 had the kind of Battles which actually where things happened, and in some cases pretty horrendous things - like that Minbari cruiser being sliced up by the shadow beams. Plus they had fighters as well as capital ships, and actually used tactics.

  • @ScreamingTc Even when Trek went CG their battles were still boring. Usually involved one giant mass of ships throwing itself at another giant mass of ships.

  • @Fbueller129 I normally snore my way through most Trek battles. The exceptions being Wraith of Khan, which is the best submarine warfare battle (set in space), the FIrst Contact battle, and the opening (and fairly one sided battle) for the Star Trek reboot. That actually managed to make Star Trek seem far, far more exciting then decades worth of the OS and it's spin offs. Plus it managed what a lot of Star Trek failed to do - it had emotional punch.

  • @Fbueller129 Plus they rarely if ever showed the cost of the fighting. The last moments of the scene where it shows the damaged and destroyed Alliance ships is sobering - nothing in the B5 universe happened without a cost or repercussions.

  • @ScreamingTc Yeah I'll say. The Alliance victory over the Shadows is what led the latter party to send a brainwashed Anna Sheridan to Babylon 5 which had dire consequences for everyone in the B5 universe forever......

  • Vree cruiser (at 2:00) is just amazing

  • @kimnice

Yeah, the Vree Saucer is very cool, but my personal favorite is the Minbari-Whitestar :D

  • @kimnice not bad little anti fighter ships from the look of what they did in that clip :D

  • @kimnice the Vree- inspiring thousands of years of UFO mythology LOL

  • @SantomPh Need the classic courtroom scene, can't remember the episode, but it was a brief bit with a human sueing a vree for having abducted his great-great-grandfather or something like that. :)
