He's saying it because 1. He's an angel 2. He's really in love with Michelle's look alike Mary 3. As an angel, he knows Danny is coming. "I knew I was leaving from the minute I got here." Buzz-Alan had a strange relationship in some ways they were bitter enemies, in others the closest of friends. They made peace before the end though and it was Buzz's advice Alan shot over whether to have the incredibly risky surgery that could possibly save Phillip's life in the last weeks of the show.

She was so good. I still love watching how opposite her Michelle is from Greenlee in almost every way - so funny. Also interesting to remember how mismatched she was with this actor, he could never keep up with her acting-wise in my opinion and this is just another example.
