Being from Atlanta, we had our own version of this Intamin classic themed after the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1985. The following year it was removed as part of Six Flags' ride rotation program and relocated to Astroworld (Houston). After a 4 yr absence from Six Flags over GA, the park purchased another model from the World Expo in Canada and installed it for the 1989 season. Unlike this version, it featured a steel open-ceiling. It too was removed in 2006 when Goliath was built. :(

lol this ride wasnt even 1% scary. you don't even get that adrenaline feeling because it goes really slow. the only scary part is when you actually look down but thats the most exciting thing about this ride. :D

I've been one pirate ship, scared the crappers out of me, how the hell they staying in their seats.

their is no bar that holds you in you just get an rail to hold on to ..

and when i was on one at Alton Towers in the uk i came out of my seats but they still continued to swing it...

The Pirate or Pharoah's Fury aren't capable of doing that, as they don't have a counterweight on the other side / above the ship. I've ridden one like that one there in the video down at Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. That one was called Berserker...something like that. It was ok, but slow. I prefer a Huss Pirate over this thing, even though it flips upside down, and i love upside down rides.
