He asked me how i felt about him joining and i told him i was sad but i was also proud of him. I told him why and i said because I dont know what i would do if he got hurt. He made a promise to me that he will stay strong for me and that made me feel better

But you all do have a good point, we get to see our spouses/Girl/boyfriends graduate if they are in bootcamp, and if they are deployed, we will see them when they get home. Both my bf and I (yes Im female) are enlisting in the Army, he goes to basic training about a month before me and even though yes we still have time together and yes its only basic training this is still an emotional song for me with us both leaving and knowing that after training either of us can be deployed at the same time maybe even have both of us deployed at once. I love him and Im going to try my hardest to make things work despite both of us going into the Army.

I HIGHLY suggest joining a support group! Support groups are how I stayed sane and learned throughout boot, MCT, MOS, deployment, and even now that he's stateside. You said "boot" so I'm assuming he's going to be a Marine. USMC Gals is a Marine specific forum, and Combat Boots and Heels is an all branches one. Those two are separate from facebook. You still have to be careful since they are strangers, but most of those ladies are amazing women. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
Wow! Gap is 15 mins from me. I'm leaving for Marine Corps after I graduate from Stevens Tech in a few weeks. Even though I have no children, wife or girlfriend to leave behind, I can't imagine how hard it is for ones in that position. Semper Fi and heads high to armed forces.

My boyfriend of two years just left for boot camp about 2 weeks ago. It's the hardest thing I have ever gone through to not be able to hear your best friends voice. I give credit to all the spouses who's other half is serving over seas!

My Husband and I have never been apart for 4 years. He left for Boot Camp at the end of June and I am dreading his first deployment as well. But you all do have a good point, we get to see our spouses/Girl/boyfriends graduate if they are in bootcamp, and if they are deployed, we will see them when they get home. Its a wonderful song and it can keep them in our hearts.

Both my bf and I (yes Im female) are enlisting in the Army, he goes to basic training about a month before me and even though yes we still have time together and yes its only basic training this is still an emotional song for me with us both leaving and knowing that after training either of us can be deployed at the same time maybe even have both of us deployed at once. I love him and Im going to try my hardest to make things work despite both of us going into the Army.

this song really touches me right now we are currently going through our 1st deployment and I will tell you what this is the hardest the saddest things that we ever had to do and but this is worth everything. It hurts but I love him too much and I will never give up. Semper Fi baby

My Boyfriend just deployed to Afgahnistan for 12 month on June 6th, it is his 3rd deployment but for me it is the first. I miss him so much and it is hard but i know we will make it together :) I Love you my Schatz! Stay Safe!!!

my boyfriend is in the US Air Force. he just graduated from basic training about a month ago. and i had to say goodbye to him again cuz hhe is now based in Cali and im here in TX waiting for him to return in sept. i miss him so much. he hasnt deployed yet but i knw that day will come and it scares the living crap out of me. we plan to get married next yr around this time. we are going to get engaged as soon as he returns. i love my airman.

My fiance is in the navy and we have been through so much these past couple months. We have rescheduled our wedding three times due to them not letting him come home. I just drove from west virginia to chicago illinois to see him beofre he left and it killed me to only get to spend 3 hours with him I wear his dog tag everyday to keep him in my heart. Please keep ryan in your prayers that he gets to come home the 22nd to get maried

I HIGHLY suggest joining a support group! Support groups are how I stayed sane and learned throughout boot, MCT, MOS, deployment, and even now that he's stateside. You said "boot" so I'm assuming he's going to be a Marine. USMC Gals is a Marine specific forum, and Combat Boots and Heels is an all branches one. Those two are separate from facebook. You still have to be careful since they are strangers, but most of those ladies are amazing women. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

Wow! Gap is 15 mins from me. I'm leaving for Marine Corps after I graduate from Stevens Tech in a few weeks. Even though I have no children, wife or girlfriend to leave behind, I can't imagine how hard it is for ones in that position. Semper Fi and heads high to armed forces.

i know what youre going through. my marine is going back to afghanistan in september, and i dont want him to go either. last time he was over there he got blown up twice, thank god he was safe each time, but just knowing that he could easily get hurt like that kills me. i just want him to come home safe to me.

Nothing against this song... but not all Military personnel are male. so that means that there are Males that are missing their Girlfriends that are over in Iraq or Afghanistan... But i do love the song very good job!!!!

I agree, but I don't think they'd be called "sweethearts." I don't know what they'd be called. But I agree, we should come up with a name and a song for the MALE military spouses as well.
