I was at that show and it started hours late. By the time show a lot of beer had been consumed and then when the show arrived they erected a scaffold right in front of the stage for the folks back in the states to see. GIs were chanting "we can't see". I'll bet that is the reason for the lack of sound track.
I only saw Bob Hope when he flew over us with his entourage of helicopters in December 1968. We were stuck in the bush and 2 of our members were chosen (drew the short straws) to be sent into Long Bien to watch the show. They were seated at the rear of the show and never saw a thing. The guys in the field always ended up sucking hind tit . But that wasn't Bob Hope's doing, just the brass back at the rear. Bob won't be missed by a generation of troopers who never knew him, but they should.
I didn't get picked for this show....I looked forward to it...but there was those of us that had to do what we do,,,,but Bob Hope...and Ann Margeret...I did get to meet Fess Parker..no Ed Ames(Mingo) Daniel Boone ..it was a big treat for us...
To Bob Hope - Thank you for the memories! A truly great and funny man who gave so much to the service men and women of our country. God Bless and Keep You.
Thanks for your profound Service to all our men and women in uniform...Thanks for the memories....gone but not ever to be forgotten !!!!! America loves you!
The Lennon Sisters from January 1968 to May 1970 were very pro-Vietnam War and they went on 8 USO tours with Bob Hope during that time to entertain US troops in Vietnam and 15 other US oversea bases!!

AMERICA LOST VIETNAM WAR BECAUSE OF ITS BIASED MEDIA!!!
Since anti-war, liberal American media always focused on American and Vietnamese civilian casualties, and ignored the enemy's casualties and Vietcong's atrocities against its own people as in the case of Hue's massacre of 5000 civilians in 1968, to mislead Americans to become against Vietnam war. Ho chi Minh, founder of Vietnam's communist party once said, " the war is not decided in Vietnam's battle fields but in CBS studio!"
That's really funny I was thinking of the word "great" with Bob Hope before I read your comment! Thanks a lot for posting! The short time I was in Iraq, the USO shows really helped! I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that way either.
God Bless Bob Hope & John Wayne! We love you<
