One of my favorites, together with Featherframe and Hair Shoes. Didn't know until now there were clips other than the one for Throwing Back The Apple. Very nice.
How did they come up with those beautiful melodies?
@joer999: It was their bass player, that was the "man behind the curtain," for them. He left the band, and they released another CD, w/o him. YIKES! I saw them tour behind it. It was so sad, because "In Ribbons," was one of my favorite CD's, for YEARS! The band kept getting upset, because the crowd kept asking for songs off of their previous release. I actually liked 1 new song called "Kinky Love," but other than that, it was obvious, that the muse had left them...
@Rich27014 I'd say that "Lovelife" had some nods in that direction - okay, some heavy nods in that direction - but was still pretty distinct from what Blur, Pulp, Elastica, and others were doing (respectable as all that was, just not the same). Blur started out being closer to shoegaze themselves, but got ahead of the pack on the Britpop thing.
@yeoman2k1 I would just Google shoe gaze and some stuff should come up. But, some bands that stand out are Lush, Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Slowdive, Moose, Chapterhouse, Swervedriver, among others. However, Lush and the Pale Saints' final album sound kind of Britpop, so you may want to check out some of that stuff, too, as well as stuff from the 4AD label from that era like Red House Painters and His Name Is Alive. There are new bands like Asobi Seksu and School Or Seven Bells.
pale saints were shoegaze, but the album this was off wasnt shoegaze at all. this is more like the poppy folk which a lot of shoegaze bands like moose turned into with the released xyz, and slowdive when they became mojave 3. @fatcatbuzz
@fatcatbuzz Perfect advice. I'd only add A Sunny Day in Glasgow to your list of new bands. I could also make a case for a The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Dead Leaf Echo, and Ringo Deathstarr.

I never realized it before, but this song sounds quite a bit like Knockin' on Heaven's Door...like alot
