When I record, my Video FPS is slow sometimes (seems like 1 frame per second) and other times it is fast (30 frames per second). I get around 70 - 100 FPS in-game (Battlefield 3). What can account for this? I have a relatively good computer and used your settings. I have a 560 Ti and i7 2600k.

@joker2100 It could just probably mean my settings are too low for you. You can bump up some of my settings if your computer can handle it, I'd try that first. If that doesn't work, just lower some of my settings.

@joker2100 Uncheck compression, that might drop ur fps, make sure u have like 3 threads or 4 threads, since u have i7 2600k, it's good...Since BF3 uses more gpu power, make it force cpu recording, try those

i record some gameplay when i have done all the right settings, its good because i dont lag.

but when i try to play back the recording it just shows 1 frame from the video and i can hear the sound in the background. i dont wanna use fraps coz i lag

@LewisHDgaming This means either your computer can't handle it or your settings are too high. If its too high put the YUV settings @ its lowest and uncheck compress. The quality will be fine. Also make sure your FPS is @ 30 FPS

Yo, im having a real problem. I have almost the exact same settings as you. But for some reason Dxtory doesent save my recordings. I started recording a game, and then Alt-Tabbed to the folder which I set Dxtory to save my recordings to. The file was there (So it obviously WAS recording), but then as soon as I stopped recording the file just disapeared. I didnt have this problem before but now I do. Someone please help me! Thanks.

Do note that if you put it to 60 FPS the file size will double.

Speaking about mb/s, if you want a 720p video @ 1280 x 720, your write speed should be at about 40. 100 for 1080p videos @ 1280 x720.

I don't know why it did, but when I selected compress it fixed my problem. Originally, without it selected, it was recording fine and would randomly drop to like 15 and then go back up and repeat the routine. Basically, it was generating a roller coaster effect with the frame rate. Thank you.

@SquixHD That's odd. I have never come across a problem like this. Make sure you have a folder selected on a hard drive or other hard drive that has space.

@SquixHD Then you're settings are way too high that your frame rate for recording is about 10 FPS. Just go into the YUV button next to the codecs, click low quality, and make sure the "compress" box is unchecked. This should make it run better. Oh and make sure you set the max FPS @ 30.

@maverick19958 I can help you with this. Go back into the settings for video recording and go to the YUV settings, set it to the lowest quality and make sure compress is not checked. This should fix your problem. And don't worry, The lowest quality settings still looks nice,

@TheTTEETTRRIISS Go into the audio part of Dxtory (where you find what the input is for audio) and click the plus button. This will allow two streams to be running at once. So all you have to do is basically click plus and choose what the input for the mic is.

@MCFRICO What you can do is lower your FPS capture rate, lower your YUV settings (As shown in the video) and unclick compress. The file will be bigger and it wont waste time compressing. Your computer CPU can depend on this. Just lower the YUV/Framerate/Unclick Compress

@MCFRICO If you have a processor with more than 1 core (it's 2012 soon, so I hope you have that), go to advanced setting and set the processing threads to 4/8 or whatever the highest is for you.

@TurbidAttack954 It does not use less cpu. I've done the comparisons, Dxtory is a lot better quality than FRAPS by far. Plus with Dxtory as I said it does not drop your framerate but FRAPS does. I like this better. Plus I now use camtasia to record my screen.
