@Actionguy1 Star trek was already killed before JJ can along. Rick Berman killed Trek, JJ resurrected the francise and is starting to repair all the damage done by Voyager and Enterprise. I like the new film well enough it certianly was better then the last couple Star Trek Next Generation movies.

B5 doesnt so much need a remake, as it needs something else, and I am not sure what that is. For 3.5 years everything just came together right, and then some where along the line the network pulled the plug and things got rushed. When the 5th year came to everyone's surprise they suddenly had to expand the story ark. Since then they have really struggled. Crusade had promise and so did "legend of the rangers" but neither was really given a chance. I don't really know what B5 needs.

I hope paramount decides to do a real Star Trek:TNG/D.S.9 crossover movie. with Amb.Worf's true rank. with his own ship hope they give him an Akira Class.

I think the only real problem is that they all look too young. I think you've captured the essence of this film with your video. Star Trek XI looks dumbed down, a whore who only shares a name with the original series. They're looking to make the film mainstream when Star Trek is not intended to me mainstream. I may be surprised when I go see the film, but my expectations are not high for it.
When I saw the real trailer my first reaction was 'teen-angst' in space. And myself and a friend even said jokingly that it looked like Star Trek 90210.

That should have been the Title for the New Trek remake. JJ.Abrams is not a true Star Trek Fan. changing everything from the original series is lame & lazy. I would like to see a the next few years someone do the same thing with his beloved creations like Lost,Fringe,etc..it would be fun to see his reaction to someone remaking his series.I bet he will not like it one bit.

I think the only real problem is that they all look too young. One of the things about Star Trek that I liked was that they were older, wiser, educated, etc. And for me specifically, I liked TNG because it was more cerebral than the previous, and the ones that came after were either too goofy or too fatalistic imho.

I think you've captured the essence of this film with your video. Star Trek XI looks dumbed down, a whore who only shares a name with the original series. They're looking to make the film mainstream when Star Trek is not intended to me mainstream. I may be surprised when I go see the film, but my expectations are not high for it.

When I saw the real trailer my first reaction was 'teen-angst' in space. And myself and a friend even said jokingly that it looked like Star Trek 90210.
And lo-and-behold, here it is made by someone who thought the same thing. It looks pathetic, like that Thunderbirds remake with the kids in it. That was directed by Johnathan Frakes (Ryker) too, just a coincidence of course - awful.

When I first about the story line for this new Trek movie, I was thrilled. Finally, a chance for Star Trek to revisit its origins. Then I saw the trailerI felt betrayed, let down and dismayed. Then this parody shows up to redeem my opinion of the whole sordid mess. No, I havent seen the movie; a trailer is supposed to entice you to the movie plex—this one does not.
