  • no 36th second?

  • Half the life's genius comes from Peter's perfect delivery.

  • Fun fact: Kubrick insisted the War Room's table be felt green, to emphasize how they treat the fate of the entire world like a game. Makes sense except... the movie's in BLACK AND WHITE!

  • i just noticed how ridiculously long that table of food is...LOL the satire never stops...what a brilliant film.

  • "Gentlemen. You can't fight in here. This is the War Room!"

That line's nothing short of epic.

  • Marvellous ! I would have published this part if it hasn't been already available.

  • We had a project at work where they designated a meeting room as 'The War Room'. Of course eventually there was an argument over something, at which point I bounded up and shouted 'No fighting in the War Room!' (oops sorry, I muffed my line a bit)

  • "Our premier is a man of the people, but he's also a man.. If you follow my meaning" xD

  • at the end, we see the Ambassador photographing the big board with a micro-camera

    that either means:

    A) he brought two micro-cameras just in case one of them was confiscated

    or

    B) Gen. Turgidson happened to have a mico-camera to plant on him

  • simply brilliant. greatest line ever.

  • 5 people fought in the war room

  • This film is genius.

  • haha great scene

  • I tell ya this is the funniest scene ever, I saw this many years ago and its still funny now

  • I love this scene, thanks for putting it up but it's spoiled by you putting the full quote as the title. Gotta dislike I'm afraid.

  • @silvertoothpick its spoiled so you are even able to find it via google/youtube :D whithout that caption it'd be hardly possible.

  • This is one of the greatest and most entertaining films of all time. Plus it's Kubrick, even better.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHHAHAHA greatest scene EVER!

  • This sentance is soooo epic (along with that movie naturally :) )

  • One of the greatest movies of all time, right up there with Soylent Green. If you have not seen both, then download or buy them.

  • I dont get it

  • @ColdplayKid112 Your name says it all. (Sigh) There's nothing to get, it's the war room. Don't fight in the war room.

  • @TheDeftonesVault I still dont get it

  • @ColdplayKid112 It's a joke idiot.

  • @MacRocks713 I still dont get it

  • @ColdplayKid112 The joke is this: The situation is one that result in the destruction of civilization through violence. However the guys in the war room are high brow elite people who have a code of behaviour which, on the personal level, avoids any show of violence or anger. It's something you see in reality. Like Hitler never personally hit anyone, and probably rarely raised his voice while killing millions of people. It's an absurd, but real, paradox.

  • @Floodlezoot I still dont ge- oh wait.

    I get it now.

  • @Floodlezoot Rarely raised his voice? Check out the movie, the Untergang right here on YouTube. The whole thing takes place in his bunker during the last days of the European War. He rants and raves constantly like a madman Come to think of it, he was.

  • @dancinkindofguy It's a film. Made in 2004 or something. A drama.

  • @pysgodfach I just thought I check it out for minute or two. Then I stayed up til 2 in the morning watching the whole thing. Great flick. Of course his rant about the abortive 'Steiner Attack' gave birth to thousands of comical video's where people put there own English subtitles in with him ranting about everything from the Bin Laden hit to how lousy his favorite NFL team is.

  • @dancinkindofguy

Are there any real accounts of Hitler shouting though? Biographical drama films do tend to take some artistic license to add dramatic effects.

  • @Superfreaxx Ohh, yeah, I've read several books about it, everyone in the bunker with him testified to it. Bye the last days of the war, he had become a demonic monster (more so than before) with no grasp of reality.

  • Ah yes, the days when you don't need a fart to make it funny... I might use this kind of comedy if I make a film...

  • @Hal9000ize Yeah, I can't stand comedy movies now. All people use are farts and other cliches that we've heard a billion times before...none of which were even funny the first time.

  • One of the best lines ever, if not the best.

  • 2 people think they can fight in the war room...

  • @DanielTheWalrus Better break them up...

  • "how to see through clothing"?

  • What did you say ?! .. "I said Premier Kissov is a degenerate atheist scum !" LOL

  • @baruavice My kinda guy.

  • Seriously, I watched this movie thinking this was a drama. Seeing Sellers made me suspicious, but it wasn't until this quote that I realized Kubrick intended it to be a dark comedy. I know, shame on me.

  • @AlecCorday That's awesome.

  • perfect

  • So in other words, we fight in PEACE.

  • It doesn't get smarter or better than this in movies.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheJaymorgan007 It certainly does have an interesting sense of humour.

  • This scene is a perfect way to explain people what irony is all about.

  • Hows that for irony?

  • Awesome!

  • Would anyone be able to tell me the meaning behind this line? I know its ironic because it is the war room and there is no fighting allowed, but is there more?

  • @USBPlugger that's it

  • @USBPlugger Mostly the hypocrisy of the government... The rules don't apply to them.

  • You guys want to fight? Take it to the peace room!

  • @AmericanBadass44 Totally commenting in here because I'm in the peace room at my school and people are arguing.

  • @Scaramanganexuspluss

that actually makes me feel sick, both him thinking he can perform like sellers and Michael bay thinking he can direct a Kubrick film. This is one movie I do not want to see redone. you can't top sellers so no point trying

  • @beardedgecko987 dont be mad because your an imature douche with nothing to do. im 13 this is funny all the shit they have on tv now suck so stop being a douche why the hell are you watching this any way

  • @usmc1942 Jesus christ stop repeating your self hoping someone will like your comment. If you Genuinely believe what I said you fell for my troll trap and I feel sorry for you. BTW I'm 13 too.

  • @beardedgecko987 dont be mad because your an imature douche with nothing to do. im 13 this is funny all the shit they have on tv now suck so stop being a douche

  • @Scaramanganexuspluss

    God forbid!

  • GENTLEMAN. YOU CAN'T FIGHT IN HERE THIS IS THE WAR ROOM LMAO

  • Why do they keep remaking movies that just can not be remade?

  • @Cemarhour Because Hollywood is slowly running out of ideas of their own. Why this year 2011 they will be breaking a movie record of having 27 sequels from movies of the past, and a lot of them are making a part 3 or should I saw 3-D. It's a shame but they also like to go after movies that shouldn't be touched. A lot of people try to protest and combat this from happening. However, every year they get more and more closer to the pure classics. They should try to create more new ideas.

  • @Cemarhour I don't want Strangelove to be remade.

If there was a remake, it has to be handled with care, as not to shit all over of George C Scott's, Peter Seller's, and Stanley Kubrick's graves.

  • @BlueKewne

A remake? Oh my God, I hope not! I couldn't imagine anyone playing the parts of these incredibly talented people.

  • @BlueKewne Agreed, Dr. Strangelove is one of those classic movies that should never be remade!

  • @lightingcobra If anyone tried, how could it be any better? This absolute perfection!

  • @Scaramanganexuspluss Does that mean Kevin James will be playing de Sadeski? Oh & Steve Buscemi will have to be Major Kong!

  • @BitterBosh Nah, Steve Buscemi is actually a good actor. Rob Schneider.

  • beardedgecko987 Im 12 and my favorite movie is from 1931. You obviously dont know what a good movie is.

  • @IronMaytons Im 12 and what is this?

  • Beardedgecko987 just wrote the most retarded comment I have ever seen on youtube! Congratulations!

  • Whatever you do don't let him see the big board!

  • Irony: Funny when it's not happening to you.

  • @beardedgecko987 Faggot

  • @beardedgecko987 it's called satire. it's like comedy, but for people who think. watching people get kicked in the nuts is fun and all, but it gets old. anyone over 16 will agree with me.

  • @davedave83 up here as one of my favorite movies, im only 18 too lol

  • @beardedgecko987 masterful troll is masterful

  • @beardedgecko987 obvious troll is obvious

  • @beardedgecko987 WOW!!! Adam Sandler!!! HAHAHAH I thought you were being serious at first.

Oh, by the way I'm 17 and I don't agree with you.

I'm guessing you haven't seen this movie, and it's sad that you can't appreciate or enjoy good films SIMPLY because they are black and white.

  • @beardedgecko987

Im 15 and my favorite movie is the 1933 musical "42nd Street".

  • @beardedgecko987 Ummm...You OBVIOUSLY don't get the joke for one and two this is considered the 2nd funniest film of alltime.

  • @beardedgecko987 obvious troll is obvious

  • @beardedgecko987 I guess a retard like you just can't grasp the idea of satire. What are you eight? Your skull so full of shit you can't grasp any other comedy than fart jokes and nut shots? Pull your head out of your fucking ass.

  • @beardedgecko987 haha, what a bad attempt at trolling!

  • @larsls Actually, it was a successful trolling. If you reply to a troll; they win.

  • @aegisfate117 Well then, consider yourself trolled! *puts on sunglasses, rides off into the sunset in his sweet ride*

  • @beardedgecko987 This is clever, Adam Sandler does the same thing for every movie he does.

  • @beardedgecko987 are you serious ?

  • @nexivdr The short answer is no. I'm going to remove my comment because i keep getting death threats. Seems I'm too good at trolling for my own good!

  • @beardedgecko987 LOL Trolling fail.

  • Just watched this film for the first time. I have to say I found it hysterical. This line is possibly one of the sharpest and most comedic lines I think I have ever heard in film, and the way Kubrick deals with the subject matter in such a satirical manner means you can't help but laugh at how idiotic we all are... Fantastic film.

  • irony,youre my eternal lover!!!

  • BEST MOVIE EVER

  • This country was built on irony.

  • best line in the whole movie!

  • Love the irony

  • Sublime.

  • Lol irony, i get it

  • @Salger12 irony. well done for pointing it out

  • THE IRONY

    THE IRONY

  • Happy International Peace Day

  • @Tonylonelyhedgehog Get the fuck out, kid. Peter Sellers, a man with actual talent, is walking through.

  • @LeeroyJenkinsstudio ok ok no need to get offensive (believe me or not) i was a bit woozy and ...

  • @LeeroyJenkinsstudio and I'll admit that was pretty stupid

  • I almost choked on my popcorn when I first ever saw the two fighting.

  • @zufgh

    Ditto!

  • .........Epic fail

  • Modern Warfare 1's mission entitled "No Fighting in The War Room" is reminiscent of this. XD

  • @The501stLego I wouldn't say it is reminiscent, it's clearly an homage.

  • Im guilty of being a "degenerate" atheist

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but in 0:32, is that a buffet table? :D

  • @DMG125 for the pie fight scene, duh

  • @DMG125 It is. One of the scenes before this had the Russian Ambassador complaining about the food and the cigars

-Try one of these Jamaican cigars, ambassador, they're pretty good.

-Thank you, no. I do not support the work of imperialist stooges.

    -Oh, only Commie stooges, ay?

  • @DMG125 it is

  • @DMG125 yes, it was a buffet table. A bit a movie trivia; the end of the film was originaly going to be a huge pie fight in the war room, but the director felt the scene was too out of balance with the rest of the film's tone, so it was cut.

  • @DMG125 Yeah it is. Good old Stanley K. originally planned to have the movie end with a pie fight but scrapped it. (It was more slapstick than he felt belonged in the film)

  • Why does the Russian guy talk like a British guy?

  • @Piriathy He went to Eton.

  • If only comedy was as intelligent as this nowadays...

  • @94AWS is it the audiences fault?

  • @0100110101001011 6 of one, half a dozen of the other

  • Indeed one of the best lines ever :D

  • How the general is clinging to his former "secret documents" when the russian ambassador enters the war room ^^ ... it's just hilarious this typical schoolyardfight in the War room! :))

  • There's some sweet snacks in the war room

  • The first DVD I ever bought, it was! Love that Strange Love.

  • anyone notice the cakes on that table?

  • @KarateKidX the film was supposed to end with a great pie fight, but Kubrick thought it was too silly

  • An absurdity on a par with... "Gentlemen, you can't smoke in here, this is a pub!"

  • Not even close; pubs are for alcohol, not smoking. Not all drinkers are smokers, and they shouldn't have to be subjected to secondhand smoke.

  • Irrelevant.

  • Seeing as you've never even been in a pub, you're irrelevant.

For your information: Sensitivity to the smell of tobacco smoke is a symptom of candidiasis.

  • How do you know I've never been in a pub? No one is immune to secondhand smoke.

  • Best Comedy ever made.

  • lolz!

  • Best. Movie. Line. Ever,

  • I agree with all three commentors! :))

  • Brilliance!!!!

  • Absolute genius.

  • cracked me up
