I still can't believe Portnoy left DT...If I were Portnoy I wouldn't leave band just because of JP's sake, not to mention other geniuses there...(Rudess, Myung, LaBrie)
@HarisDT mike is approaching middle age and wanted to try other stuff while he still can. i don't blame him of growing tired of DT. too much of anything, even the best things can become tedious. listening to labries dodgy singing every night and jordans 5 min wankish synth solo's would get under my skin big time.
@thispagesux Yeah you are kinda right...you can get tired of stuff that's in fact in our ears sounding like heaven...but like you said...It can get under your skin
@09prizefighter09 yeah he uses a crunch lab in the bridge and a liquifier in the neck. other albums in the past he has used a d-sonic/steves special and air norton :D
by far my favorite guitarrist even though he makes me sad knowing i will never be as good as him. it's more than the notes he plays--the tone, the phrasing, the EMOTION
For the first time when I hear JP playing I knew he is gonna be one and only guitarist to have such amazing influence on me. He has all: feel, tehnicality, sound amazing writing skills and he's gonna be my fav. of all times.
JP I hail to you, you are reason Im living my life and playing guitar 14th year already :)
@freakguitar1 I love Per Nilsson too and Scar Symmetry is also on my fav. band list but still no matter how much I try to like some other band I still get drawn back to DT. And once I've seen them live...it's like your fate is sealed and they own you forever :)
Per Nillson, Marco Sfogli, Ron Jarzombek, Dimebag Darrell, Emir Werstler, Jeff Loomis and John Petrucci to rule them all :D but top 3 are JP, Marco and Per.
@HarisDT ah yeah, about the music in general i think DT is very good too, more versatile than SS. but only looking at solos i prefer Per and Marco over JP :)
nice taste you got mate, i need to check out Emir Werstler though, never heard of him...
and i`d throw Guthrie Govan in there.. the master himself.... :D
and HELL YEAH man, Ron Jarzombek is one of my all time favorites! <3
And then "The Edge" , "John Frusciante" , "Jack White" , ect .. are considered as "The best of fucking genius guitar heroes in Ze World" Lol ! (Althought I'm full of respect toward them =D )
Why listen to this when you could listen to the isolated drum tracks?

@cildrenofbodom0000 He's got a piezo, but I'm pretty sure that's installed litterally in the bridge of his guitar.
