Forgetting a number or their name is a pretty easy one to do - it's easier to make someone forget something than remember something that didn't happen. I know for the name especially you suggest to them it'll be something that's just on the tip of their tongue, but their mind's gone blank - they just cannot remember their name at all, and the more they try and think of it, the more difficult it is to remember.

Yep. That is the real purpose of hypnosis, not just as a party trick. There are no bad long term effects, if the person is a hypnotherapist and not just an entertainer.

Thanks for the reply,rotating the head to disorientate the subject still sounds rather physical to me,obviously implies an impact on the brain itself,anyhow the subject presumably volunteers for the session so its her call.

Once again, it is NOT rough and there is no impact on the brain. This is a balance thing, not a brain thing. If you think it's too rough, you are doing it too hard.

It's not rough. First check to make sure she has no neck problems. Rotating the head puts her deeper into trance. It disorients her.

I think she probably knows she was hypnotised, but she's just doing what he told her to. wehn you're hypnotised it's just about impossible to not do what they're telling you to do, especially when it's as direct as that.

When we were kids my mate said he could hyponotise people, so we just played along, doing anything he told us to do. Then one of us didn't wake up when he clicked his fingers. He got rather scared. Afterwards we told him we were all faking. He didn't speak to us for 2 weeks. :)

I've always been interested in Hypnosis, I guess it's universal that you don't really believe in it until it happens to you, someone records it, and plays it back to you.

It's a shame, I could really benefit from hypnosis, but it's not as if there is a corner shop with hypnotist's on shop shelves.

It just wasn't your time! Also, many people don't go into hypnosis in a group setting. One-on-one, the hypnotist can adjust according to how you respond.

There have been times when people have "tried" to abuse these methods, but they will always fail. Remember, a subject will not do anything that is against her beliefs or even that she doesn't feel comfortable with. That's why hypnosis is so safe.

It seems to me that the Critical Factor of the mind isnt realy bypassed in Hypnosis. Its just set to "lazy mode".

Most people describe the state as. "i knew what was going on, but I couldn't help doing it"

It's not even a lazy factor. Remember the subconscious mind works always hard and fast even when you are truly asleep.

What you actually do with hypnosis is by pass the conscious mind has much as possible (the deeper you are in "trance") the more you aren't aware of it. It's like being truly drunk. You know you say crazy stuff but it was out before you could consciously close your mouth.

Yes, this is possible, but remember, you would never do anything that you didn't want to do and you can not "get stuck" in hypnosis.
