  • wtf i2t isnt a ylod it rlod

  • I did it.. didn't even leave the hair dryer on for a few minutes and i looked and the ps3 was melting loads! so i thought f*** this dont want to mess it up even more lol..

so i cooled it down infront of fan.. turned it on message came up about it not being turned of properly.. then another message saying it is going to be restarted to check for any corrupted files etc... then came on a minute later as I was writing this.. and went off again and doing it again now :/

  • Try the Flux Capacitor. Make sure you're setting is 1.21 GigaWatts. This is the dumbest thing ever.

  • ps a hairdryer cannot get hot enough to melt the solder !

i dont think anyone would be stupid enoughto let you trade in a ps3 thats obviously been melted by a hairdryer its so obvious what you done ,and why youve done it! good luck with that

  • DONT DO THIS! your ps3 may work for a week but you will kill your motherboard doing this as your ps3 will overheat again. the cause of ylod is the gpu and cpu chip on the motherboard have lost their thermal compound causing it to overheat. what you have to do is.. 1- remove motherboard, 2- clean everything,3- flux the weakend solder joints,4- heat the 6 black chips with a heat gun to 200 degrees 3 times,4- clean old compound off cpu and gpu and apply new coating,5- put it back toghther

  • I dont know if this will work Ive taken my ps3 apart 2 time and it wont work

so ill try it but if doesnt work im going to be pissed >:( >X

  • so for this not to happen you need your room cold when your playing or what?

  • It worked man!! i tryed 2 times..but now no picture..tell me what to do???????

  • @djsammy031 its your gpu.... you need it reflowed with flux most likely, or get it reballed... could cost quite a bit tho

  • Haha im going to game stop tomorrow to trade this bitch!

lmao this guys funny as hell

  • Sweet actually works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha my Ps3 Starting Melting like its hard to explain

  • Wow the same Xbox 360 Method.

  • nice work, ty. I also found guide from ylodfix.com useful.

  • am going to try this

  • yo man i just tried your method and it works......haha i just did it for the fun of trying and it worked.....thanks

  • yo man i just tried your method and it works......haha i just did it for the fun of trying and it worked.....thanks

  • I kept a hair dryer on the back vents for maybe 15 or 20 minutes, then I wrapped the PS3 in a shirt and let it sit for maybe 10 minutes. After I took the shirt off of it, I let it cool off for a bit then I tried it and it worked.

NOTE: This is not a permanent fix. It will only last you a very short time.

  • @TheDarkNobleOne there the saame problem just different names

  • @TheDarkNobleOne yeah, same thing, overheating (experience: i do a repair service for ps3 ylod and xbox rrod)

  • my ps3 ylod again this trick not a permanent solution. And the other 'heat gun' fix is neither... only solution is get a new ps3...

  • @LoneYakuza no you need to reball the chips

  • Gamestop sold me a broken 80gb backwards compatible ps3 today and it got ylod after playing for just an hour and a half ):

  • my playstion is melted to fuck :(

  • @LePraChaUnKILLER666 LOLLLLLLL

  • @LePraChaUnKILLER666 you have to take out the hardrive first

  • @LePraChaUnKILLER666 thats what happend to me

  • Hello, This worked for me. I wrapped it in a jumper and put it in the ps3 box heated for 20 mins then cooled it with a fan for 20 mins.

I tried the alternative trick of the switches to get my disk out it did not work for me .

    Thanks

  • Hope this works so I can back up all my RB songs before it craps out again...

  • you know if you turn it off then hold the eject and turn it back on at the same time your disc will come out....

  • @sylroe Not on all systems.

  • @sylroe it doesent work on 60gb ps3s

  • im trying this method right now

  • @fireroom666 did it work?

  • @Thushan44

    ill give u a clue.... :(

  • If u want the disc out, press the eject button and turn the backswith on and off..

  • u twat u dont do that cuz after 2-3 weeks it will get it again so pay sony £131.59 and get a brand new 80GB 4 port playstation 3

  • @MilkandCocos FUCK YOU BITCH MOTHERFUCKING COCK SUCKING CORPORATE BITCH

  • because of you my new shoes burned

  • slim never benn overhitted :D

  • Now basiclly i always tried this and it never worked! But luckily i have my own method of fixing it its very straight forward anoying but hell... Now oddly my ps3 when EVER i set up Daylight savings it always dies on me with the YLOD now what i do is that i fix my ps3 from the grave next i restore factory settings and it worked like a charm! Now i always wondered why it kept diying on me it ended up being "DAY LIGHT SAVINGS" its weird why it does that but i guess my ps3 possesses this issue

  • Why fix it properly when you can do what this guy says and almost melt your PS3? Genius!

  • lol "gimme my disk back"

  • my ps3 fuckin work !! haha thank youu

  • i owe my mom a blowdryer lol

  • omfg. my ps3 cracks sometimes.

  • how much heat does the heat gun have 2 be set to or are u using a hair dryer or a blowdryer please write back ! ?

  • Yo guys if this doesn't work can you take the PS3 Hard Drive out to save your data, and then send it back to Sony for a different one?

  • are u sure this will work

  • @mrmatthewsilva8 what have you got to lose?

if it doesnt work, so what, your ps3 was already broken. mine jsut broke, so ill try it

  • @HalfTheSpeed how much do u think it cost to fix it

  • screw this trouble im gonna try my best but if all else fails im getting the slim

  • yea trading in was what i was thinking... hmm wonder homw much i would get...

can you still trade it in even when the warranty sticker is off?

  • The problem is solder, it becomes cracked and it loses the connection to lots of different little components and even the processor and graphics unit.

The best thing to do is use the heating method with the motherboard on display then push down on the units when they are very warm to force them back into place.

  • @forthehomeless19 yes you'll still have your psn account.

  • @amber970 if u still have ur account but not the same ps3 do u still have the downloads and trophies?

  • when my ps3 got ylod because i live in canada i would have paid 227$ so i got a slim but i wish i could have saw this video earlier :(

  • lol... like Jesus in the cave.

  • CHEAP PS3 FOR SALE SEARCH UP THE SELLER ON EBAY. 'hyperglowfx'

  • my ylod is retarded if i leave my ps3 alone for like an hour and i turn it on its fine but i cant see anything on my screen they i cant turn of from the power button i have to use the switch and then if i try 2 turn it on it gets the ylod XD FML

  • i have a heat gun that lights at 700 degrees F how long should i leave it blowing also i have no blow dryer T-T

  • It actually worked. Just saved myself $178.

  • jeah without socks, like it xD

  • how much u got for selling ure PS3 to get the slim?

  • dont do this shit mine broke even more now it dont wanna turn on

  • I swear it was a conspiracy for sony to make you buy the ps3 slim...they made us download some bs firmware that makes the ps3 stop working after so long...I will miss the backward compatibility.

  • hey so how long do i leave the hair dryer on it?

  • umm i have a 250 gb hdd what should i do?

  • Kool... ima try this lol

  • wat ps3 gig is tht

  • This shit works real talk just did it

  • air force ones ftw

  • thank you! SON OF A BITCH NOW MY PS3 FUCKED VERY MORE! ASSHOLE

  • How long did you let it cool down.???

  • This worked for men thinks man for the video

  • You own the old model. The new one fixed the YLOD, but maybe you wouldn't want to spend 300 Bucks on a new PS3.

  • all you do is cut it off from main power put finger on eject button cut power switch back on keep finger there and your disk is out :)

  • @TheNeoncloud u cant do that on 60gbs

  • @windysid12 my was a 60 gb

  • @dias724 dude my ps3 bearly got a YLOD i heard that u can hold down the power front and u hear 3 beats u can fix it,but it didn't work for me.

  • @billtheman100 thats for disk ejection when people have ylod and wants their disk back from the ps3

  • my house exploded

  • @aakashh a small price to pay for the best gaming system ever hahahaXD

  • @aakashh ROFL THAT MADE MY DAY.

  • This dude has an awesome window view!!! Lucky bastard lol

  • that didn't harm the game?!?!?!?!?!?!!

  • my ps3 melted when i tried this....

  • Im gonna try this and sell it back to the store i got it from :) buy a slim with it :)

  • Thats weird.. ive had my ps3 on pretty much straight for 2 years... not playing everyday or anyting, but its usually on and its never given me problms...

maybe im just lucky i dont know...

Why does that flap thing work on your ps3... i have the 160 gig and mine dosnt open... wtf... lol

  • @leaf16nut dude i had my ps3 for 2 years, almost 3 years in a couple months and i got the ylod today :/ watch out dont leave it on too long like me -_-

  • @xTruexMGOxFhx

Shitty deal... yeah i have had mine for like 2 years i think... i leave it on 24/7...

and have no problems... I cant see why it would though... every videogame console ive owned, every appliance ive owned i leave on and i never have issues... maybe its luck, but...

well all i can do is hope cause im to lazy to turn my ps3 on and off every time :P

  • Everybody should just save money & buy a PS3 Slim. It's nearly impossible to get the YLOD with a PS3 Slim, so you won't have to keep giving out cash to get it fixed.

  • @candolism no u shouldnt get the slim just send it to sony thats better than buying a slim

  • I play mw2 online. if i send my ps3 to sony and they fix it and then i sign in to my account will i still have all my past stuff i earned on psn?

  • Course. It's just the solder that's cracked, stats and stuff won't be affected.

  • @Rade472 yeah, that stuff will still be there. but i think u'll have to create ur classes and stuff again.

  • The fan in my PS3 overheated...When I hit the power it went right loud made a click and the light turned yellow, then red and started blinking

  • works 4 2 days

  • wow an american with fifa, lol

  • @daveLFCfan2 Brazilian Bro lol

  • @dias724 how long did u let your ps3 cool down?thanks

  • lol, this is the same thing u do with 360 red rings

  • great video on the ps3 fix. alot of users have had the ylod problem and i have found the best fix is this guide at fixps3(dot)info

  • @MrFixps3 Pretty shameless and obvious self promotion there. "I find the best fix is the one that I sell." Geez, at least login to a different youtibe account to make it look good. lol

  • and pay 150$

  • im not trading my ps3 in im going to keep my 80gb i fixed mine a different way so yes this does not last long but it works

  • ur an idiot u said killzone was inside b4 fifa came u tard.

  • haha mine ALWAYS brakes after playing fifa for a bit... we should sue them:O lol

  • i did this and it worked but only for a couple of mins and unfortunately the hairdryer melted the back of my ps3 soo i am just going to have to save up for a ps3 slim if anyone would like to see my melted ps3 message me and i will make a video

  • how much does it cost if you live in canada to sent it in to sony

  • @1Rockyboxer1 150$ still

  • @xVietHerox oh, thanks, i thought they will change it because of 2010

  • sony gives $150 dlls for a ylod ps3?

  • why did they get rid of that port flap thing and backwards capability??? so so shit im pissed at sony hope the hairdryer thingy works for me hope ma fuckin ps3 duznt melt :/

  • Haha, i can imagine the guy at gamestop, " Hey Why does your PS3 smell like dirty feet? " WTF

  • im going to back up my PS3..

  • if ur game is stuck in the ps3 switch it on while your hand is on the eject button !!SUBSCRIBE!!

  • only for 20,40 and 80 it doesnt work on 60gb what most people with ylod have

  • u have to send it to sony i did now i have a slim u cant get ylod on slim

  • no i used the hairdryer trick

  • did you have a warranty when you sent it back? because i am going to get a slim because mine has YLOD now

  • It don/t matter what you get, my slim just fucked up 10 mins ago

  • Did you heat it up from the back where the connectors are or by the side?

  • i tried this ands it did not work

  • @atoledo82 HEY!! if you wanna fix ur PS3. watch my videos of how to do it and read my description too for info. I know how to fix the YLOD. go to my videos....they are very helpful.....and if you dont understand it then message me saying the probem and il make a new video.

  • haha this better work im goin to try it for my 40gb... it died 2 days ago ^^ il try it n sell it if it works

  • so you didnt lose your money?? I dont feel so bad any more your about to get a working one and i have a working one we both happy!!! you wanna go watch a movie wit me tonight? lmfao

  • well oddly enough i still think sony should be made to pay.... but our "argument" has been very fun :L i thank you for ur time, i still dont agree with ppl doing quick fixes as it causes more problems but to be honest i was anooyed and just looking for some1 to blame..

  • its bc im a bad person, if you are good boy dont try this! i refuse to pay the sony to fix a product that has a 10 year life time! If they care and dont want no one to get ripped off the should just recall all this pieces of sh*t dont you agree? i could care less if they dont faggit

  • @dias724 ohhh yeh Sony just wants more $

  • Comment removed

  • What a half-assed way to fix it, why not just set it on fire and be done with it? If you have any intention of keeping your original model PS3 you need to disassemble the thing and re-flow the solder using a heat gun.

  • how long will the ps3 actually last? i dont wanna rip some customer off who ends up buying the shitty ps3 i traded in. i hope it dont last too long so they can return it and get their money back.

  • my ps3 had the yellow light and i turned it off and kept it off for 2 days and i turned it back on and it practically reset itself and now its working fine.

  • aare u suree

  • no it did the same thing a few days later, i just bougth a new ps3

  • yea cant really say all ylod are caused bye over usage since i only use mine once a week maybe hour at time and also hears of friends getting right out of the box so whatever the reason sony needs to fix mit should of never put such fragile cpu ship that close to the source of heat had sony ps1 and ps2 never had no problems till now on secon one plus had to send off for repair ,now know how to fix with commen hair drier yea hair drier seen laots of post that say they dont work well THEY DO..

  • IT WORKED : D

    THAAAAAAAAAANKS

Do not do it while HDD is inside, it might cause damage to it!!

  • Thanks for the tip man ^^

  • WOW man My PS3 got the YLOD 5 days ago and i did this trick last nite and it came back to life!!! now i got my MW2 back and im gonna go trade it in ASAP thankz a lot man i apreciate ur help!!

  • Yea man no problem gland i can help! Yea trade it in as soon as you can, it will not last long

  • I did it and it did work... hope it works for all of you with this problem as well. I had originally opened the system and cleaned the Ps3 thoroughly and that didn't work. Gave up for some time then tried it today, had the hair dryer blowing in the back vents for 15-20 minute moving back and forth and it worked. Be careful the heat melted the back vent grid a little bit. For all of you people who have tried everything else it is worth a shot.

  • lol 30minutes really? i just found out this method as well (not from you)and made a vid but i didnt put it in for 30 min. i had 7:24 in just a sweater. crazy how you rps3 didnt warp from the top like mine did. when i had it in high temp for little time than you.

  • lol read the title and description it says LESS THEN 30MINS... so yea 7:24 is less then 30 right good job u did it correctly!

  • does the speed of the heat have to be slow or does it have to be fast?

  • yeah well im just saying cuz you put in the vid "about 30mins" thats a lot. im just amazed on how your ps3 came out fine while mine not so good. uther wise i woud have traded mine in as well

  • Maybe your blow dryer was more powerful then mine? idk

  • i never heard of it before

  • DAMN IT!!! STILL DIDENT WORK!!! i followed everything you said :(

  • I accidently did it from the back, will it still work? Or do i gotta do the whole thing again and this time do it by the side?
