Tenchi was the very first anime I saw, and let me say, it was an honor to see it at such a young age. :D

I loved this show as a kid.

But I think the only thing that puts it above Muyo for me is that it actually had and ending to it.

When I first saw Muyo as a kid they showed about 13 episodes before stopping it. There were so many plot elements brought up there that were never resolved and I think that tainted my enjoyment of it.

I remember Tenchi Muyo very well, but what I didn't remember was the opening...until I watched it today for the first time in forever. I knew the moment it started playing that I'd heard it and seen it before. I even remembered all the lyrics to the song on the spot. Weird.

@stoogefest16 duno if you do/did psychology but its got to do with i think its called flashbulb memory which is like when you think you've forgotten something but then as soon as a stimulus that is related to the thing you've forgotten appears you instantly remember!! so really you have forgotten its just stored sort of unconsciously in the brain! :)

This is ridiculous, I was watching this in the 2nd grade and now I'm sitting here in my last few days of the 12th grade wondering what the fuck happened to all the valuable shows that actually HAVE a story line. I was admittedly obsessed with DBZ for a while, which is only slightly embarrassing in retrospect, but I know that Outlaw Star really was fucking amazing. Anyway, I share your lamentations about the quality of modern-day programming, but what we have now - that wasn't as mainstream then - is the Internet. Elfen Lied, Evangelion, GitS - there's a lot of good shit out there.

I don't remember Outlaw Star much but I know I watched it, and especially DBZ, Sailor Moon, Medabots, etc etc etc. I've seen so much crap that I don't know where else to look if you know what I mean. After watching Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, Elfen Lied, Full Moon, Azumanga Daioh, Higurashi, Durarara....this will be a long list. I think you get the jist. X3

@64522744 The OVA series connects to the Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki series. Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo were somehow spin offs due to the creator wanting to reinterpret the series....(I'm a sequential arts major so we do the same thing as an exercise in class)....The first two Tenchi films link to Tenchi Universe, the last one links to the OVA. And Tenchi GXP is a spin-off featuring a guy who ends up married to Tenchi's cousin and joining the Galaxy Police

There was a DVD at Blockbuster of the first four episode or so. I remember trying so hard to find more episodes, but then they started showing it on Cartoon Network and it was like a little slice of heaven. : P

The Tenchi Universe storyline really highlighted the love triangle between Tenchi,Ayeka and Ryoko. Of course it seemed in the story as if he favored Ryoko, although he did risk everything to help Ayeka regain her kingdom. I always found it amusing that Ryoko and Ayeka were such opposite ends of the spectrum. A great show that proves mulitple women wanting your affection is alot of trouble.
