What bolloks this description is, , this movie says it all..if you can't get your nut around it , don't bother.. Southern based bollocks like Football Factory and Green Street with its Casual by numbers clothes and slang fall way short, this is a brilliant depiction of the time andf the birth of a culture. Its the only terrace molvie that can be viewed as a proper story with real characyters not Danny Dyer caricatures.
decent film, the only thing i felt let down by was the fact that it didn't have enough of 'YOU FACKIN MAG' or cunts gettin their heads kicked in. Plus if Elvis weren't gay, then i don't know what the fuck's wrong with him.
You spelt it right, The book is based very heavily around my team, Tranmere Rovers, who are from Birkenhead on The Wirral
All the scenes of this are set on The Wirral, but our Chairman said that she didnt want any links to tranmere in the movie as it would ruin our "Family Club" reputation.
A cross between Football violence and arthouse. Not your run of the mill Football Factory/Firm/ID film. Watched it 4 times in the last 2 weeks. It really is the best.
Sorry that there aren't enough fights i it for some people, however you are welcome to go out and have a real fight if you can.
I was abit let down by this film, only cos half of the books not in it, and thats my favourite book ever! Still a good film though the fashion and musics amazing! Dodgy accents though, im from the wirral and sound nothing like that
i've never read the book but heard it was good. this film was a big let down.having been involved in the scene during the 80's i feel the film did try and touch on the things that happened back then. but too much was spent on the relationship between carty and elvis.not enough was spent on the mob culture, fashion, and the robbing that went off. the firm is based on liverpool fans in particular as we led the way in fashion, with others in the north west playing catch up. poor effort!
It's a pity you didnt get to read the book first, although the film would have been much more disappointing. I'd still recommend to give the book a read, it's a completely different take on basically everything.
I think the film is incredible, it tells the great book brilliantly focusing on the interesting relashionship between Carty and Elvis. An epic film with an awsome soundtrack!
Zero stoyline just a few fights here & there (nearly every one started by a headbutt). Pointless film & pretty poor imo. Along with the soundtrack the only other positives were Rebecca Atkinson & Stephen Graham.
yeah the soundtrack was decent, joy division and the bunnymen etc, plus the woolyback song was ace, but i thought the rest of the film was lacking quite alot..
watch the film its much better than the firm, football factory. the trailer makes it looks shit. Its not really a hooligan film. its a very powerfull film. well acted.

I found it to show the silliness of pointless violence.
Also I think it demonstrated the power struggle the smaller of us face in life.Brilliant.
