Hahaha! I played this a lot! Somehow I always forgot how many sponges I'd used - so mr. Jones always ended up with sponges in his abdomen! Didn't crash for me, though.
ooo I want to play this! Reminds me alot of Life and Death, an old game i used to play as a kid. Seems to have a little better graphics though. Too bad it crashes, I was getting into it!
You know, I might be a little biased here, but I prefer Life & Death and it's 4-color CGA to this.
There's something about L&D's design, such as the instrument table where you actually pick up the instruments - as opposed to picking them on a menu in this version - that I feel is more atmospheric.
This version feels like Adobe Photoshop where you essentially "paint" incisions and use the eye dropper... I mean hypodermic needle to inject the patient. ; )
why are there 2 arrows?

Yeah it's crap with only 2 colors and no sound (except the internal speaker's "beep").. Look at it:

@HappyD88 Sort of. The author (Dr. Myo Thant) evolved this into the game "Life and Death" which was released on Amiga, Mac, and PC.
The legality is kind of grayish, but the PC and Amiga versions of L&D do show up on abandonware sites occasionally.
The "series" consisted of:
Life & Death 0: The Surgeon (this game) (Mac & Amiga)
Life & Death 1 (Amiga, Mac, PC)
Life & Death 2: The Brain (Mac, PC)
Life & Death 3: The Brain 2.0 (Mac)
Life & Death 4: Virtual Surgeon: Open Heart (PC)
