  • Фантастика! То что изобрел Лев Термен в начале прошлого века - это Гениально! А музыка!!! Спасибо!

  • @MrYANKUZ Да, для того времени это был прорыв. Фактически синтезатор изобрёл.

  • And she uses a Marshall amp!

  • Lev Sergeivich Termen ... a bit different than Leon Theremin. Lev means Leon (Lion in English) but why to modify his family name ???

Do we call Mr Barak Obama: Barakka Bamaluma ??? NO! And then: why you need to modify the name of others ?

  • amazing!

  • super....

  • La media vola conchetumare!!!

  • So good. Congratulations! =)

  • Imagine a theremin/musical saw duet.

  • Nada mal pero Lydia Kavina es la Reina en éste instrumento.

  • Отлично! Спасибо!

  • Lovely & informative.

  • 2:14

  • That guy at 3:30 has a mean rat tail

  • Неужели кому-то нравится эта хрень? Мерзкий звук.

  • @mephi040310 Просто на нём сложно играть. Послушайте с третьей минуты, практически пение.

  • Beautiful instrument!!!

  • i love how they fast forward teh scienty stuff.

  • Could you send me the video of the class without the fast forward?

  • what was so funny at 1:20? :]

  • Really cool, I've never seen this musical instrument before..

I just thought u was touching a string or somethin, but then I looked and there was nothing O.o

Nice job, must be hard to play this..

  • @gibuselli its probably the hardest instrument to play, it doesnt cost alot of energy but it so hard since u dont feel keys or something else like a piano. its just air.

  • Thank you.

    Very much thank you.

What else can I say? Oh! Yeah; pass me the tissue too, please, because you brought me to tears.

I am a crier, do not worry. I usually cry when I hear this Ave Maria; but your rendition, left me wondering so many beautiful feelings, that was an oasis in my day. I salute you.

  • That guys lack of a neck angers me.

  • Nice job. She keeps her pitch range very tight, requiring disciplined "aerial fingering" movements within a narrow range. Anyone know what kind of theremin this is? It has the lovely high end of a Burns, but more "guts" in the lower registers. I don't recognize the make though I think I've seen Lydia Kavina playing one like it.

  • that is freaking awesome!!!!!!!!

  • kk, wiki just cleared me up ; )

'The frequency of the other oscillator is controlled by the performer's distance from the pitch control antenna. The performer's hand acts as the grounded plate (the performer's body being the connection to ground) of a variable capacitor in an L-C (inductance-capacitance) circuit.'

Didn't know he meant the 'generator' in a sound-generating way :shame:

  • You`re right - she alters C in the L-C circuit=)

'Generator' is a russian terminology but 'oscilator' is alo used but scientists mean that this termin subscribes mechanical or quantum mechanical systems :))))

  • What induces the voltage in the generators?

I cannot believe that this works with the minimal magnetic fields of our body oO

Still, a fascinating instrument. Thanks a lot for introducing it to me.

  • Not anything to do with any magnetic field in your body.

Its the fact that your body is a bit like an earth connection, and as such, to an aerial, seems like capacitance.

Radio frequency oscillators often use an inductor and a capacitor in parallel. What is happening here is that

when she brings her hand near the pitch antenna the radio frequency changes.

This is mixed with the other generator and causes a lower frequency beat voltage, the one that we can hear.

  • could somebody explain why it needs two orthogonal input methods (two hands) eventhough in the end it outputs a single harmonic note? is it to make the input more ergonomic???

  • one is for volume, one is for pitch

  • ohhh, thanks

  • i built one but it hasn't this sound!!!!!!wonderful

  • how does it work???

  • WELL I have to admit this is a cool one, although I almost lost my patience when viewing the first half 2 minutes

  • Phisics is a difficulte science;)

    Thank you!

  • cool and freaky! love it

  • Excellent technique!

  • wtf

    this is amazing

  • very nice. Great sound and playing.

  • wow nice. was watching how it was used in 'the day the earth stood still' (old version) the other day lol and watched the modern one today lol. quite an invention. awesome sounds but im guessing its very hard to learn?

  • Yeah, coz you have no scale or keyboard in front of you.

  • Mike this is SOOOO awesome!!!......:D

  • Fantastic. Thanks for providing this.

  • Absolutely wonderful. Astounding.
